And this was bound to happen. Despite the fact that Rockstead and Iron Galaxy have not released any patch to address the absence of AO in the PC version, some SweetFX mods appeared that do exactly that.
Now this can be considered as a temporary workaround and not a permanent solution, as we’re pretty sure that HBAO+ can look better than this (though it remains to be seen whether such AO will be used in the PC version).
Those interested can download the SweetFX mods that currently offer support for ambient occlusion from here.
And here is a comparison, showing AO in full action.

John is the founder and Editor in Chief at DSOGaming. He is a PC gaming fan and highly supports the modding and indie communities. Before creating DSOGaming, John worked on numerous gaming websites. While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2. John has also written a higher degree thesis on the “The Evolution of PC graphics cards.”

John a username named “ffleader1”. on steam he fixed a lot of mess from the PC version of Batman and he posted his ini files, proof video and performance guide!
and actually works pretty decent if you really need to play Batman ASAP right now.

That video doesn’t show the worst case scenarios. I can get 60 fps as well, but with constant microstuttering when driving and gliding. When running around on the ground it’s smooth.
Having mixed feelings about this… On one hand, I really want to thank these creative modders who save the day on a regular basis, on the other hand, I fear this could encourage WB/Rocksteady to let go of the mandatory fixes for this awful port.
But I’ll gladly take the mods over promises which are yet to be verified.
Thanks guys for helping us out !
They should just remove the PC version from Steam and release a Batman Arkham Knight Enhanced Edition with All DLC exclusively for PC after 3-6 months and upgrade it for free for current owners. Also add in VR & DirectX 12 support as well.
Dump this disgracefully early access version & start fresh without the negative reviews.
good ideea !
i said it many times i rather prefer delayed games with good support for PC and all types of hardware arhitecture rather than broken games or optimized only for the latest GPU’s
Well to be fair this ones broken everywhere trust me I’ve got a 970 it ain’t running that great or to be precise it runs just below that buttery smooth cinematic 24 fps.
Rocksteady should work on a port themselves.
If they put in DirectX12 support, I’d expect a January 2016 release.
I love the Sweet FX from K-putt’e he is a master
His preset doesn’t have AO though.
It’s like putting lipstick on a pig at this point. The PC Version will never be good unless rebuilt.
haha that was funny
i’d definelly bang that pig….damn she prettier than me
lol
lol the game just looks astoundingly bad. Console versions at the same resolution look vastly superior. Even the quick AO was a big improvement.
I am wondering that myself how can mobile apu & outdated gpus from 2010 can run this game better than a PC with Titans and even look better. That steam refund policy is gonna come in real handy in dark times like these once again LORD GABEN to the rescue.

Fallout 4 Steam DayOne 4k FTW?
Too late. Done it already!
oh my god, you’re one hell of a character in this website….
sorry. didnt want to!
that’s why i love pc gaming,if a game is broken the modders can fix them
WTF:

Apparently modders are doing a better job then Unsteady studios it seems. WB give it to the modding community for free they will fix this utter sh**e of a port in a day or two as they always do. Respect to the modding community. Has anyone tried to force AO through the Nvidia Control panel ?
So turns out Nvidia sped up the videos of gameworks to 60FPS while the game was running 30FPS
http://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/3axvsu/wbgames_expected_30fps_capped_the_recommended/cshc58i
Everything about this game stinks
This has not been confirmed yet though. Interesting nonetheless
Seems like Nvidia’s build of the game with gameworks on is way different build then what Iron Galaxy produced as a final product.
This would explain why the game has no AA features. just on or off. WTF? Lvl detail normal? No refresh rate? lmao. I mean no HBAO+ that’s for sure I mean the game don’t even have AO in general.
I would not be surprised if Nvidia makes a statement soon about it. Because this game looks nothing like what Nvidia showed on it’s video’s.
Nvidia has been awfully quiet lately after the Game Ready Drivers.
I think Nvidia just needs to set new standards on it’s gameworks Titles. Because all these bad ports been doing is hurting them so bad in the eyes of Gamer’s.
Witcher 3 I can deal with because it runs good. But this Batman game makes Unity look like a freaking masterpiece.
Don’t you get it? Its Nvidia FrameWorks. To make 24fps feel like 60fps by doing a speedhack which cheatengine could do eons ago.
it looks like sh*t either way
Nvidia’s build of the game and Iron Galaxys final retail build are not adding up.
Looks like WB will not be giving Iron Galaxy a call. This is the worst port of making the PC look like garbage next to consoles since Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver on PC next to the Sega dreamcast version.
it looks like s**t either way
You need the correct AO bits. IMO this implementation is much, much better than banging your head finding AO bits that work.
The looks much better with AO, I wonder what the performance hit of having it on is?
