Here Is What a Next-Gen “Blade Runner” Game Could Look Like in Unreal Engine 4

Blade Runner is one of the greatest sci-fi movies of all time. And a couple of days ago, Polycount’s member ‘Vulfy’ shared a number of screenshots from a project he’s been working on that is inspired by this classic movie. In short, the following images give us a glimpse at what a next-gen Blade Runner could look like in Unreal Engine 4. Enjoy!

  1. These are great and all, but any good Blade Runner scene needs neon lights, rain, Asian signage, and wet, translucent plastic and glass. This does look dystopian, but the Underground is in England – Blade Runner is in a future Los Angeles after Chinatown grows to encompass the entire city, basically.

Also, here’s a fun fact: Blade Runner is set in 2019, which is only 4 years from now. I always wondered why they put futuristic movies not-so-far in the future. Why not go way out, like 40,000 years from now? I want to see THAT future – one that I know I’ll definitely never see in real life.

    1. Yeah it’s kind of funny watching old sci fi movies set in the future and they’re still using CRT monitors.

  2. IDK for you guys, this screenshots are awesome, but they lack “that” Blade runner feeling

  3. I just don’t understand why a NextGen “Blade Runner” game hasn’t been made yet. The tech has been caught up in terms of what an OPEN WORLD BR game could be, for many years now and it seems like such a no-brainer in terms of the fandom being thrilled about it. Imagine, say, GTA 5, but in the Los Angeles 2019 of the original film and today’s graphics to make that happen. It would be absolutely incredible – and it could maintain the theme, given how deep the writers of games these days go. Playing Deckard in the pre-2019 days, etc. Stopping for clues at the side shops, etc. Just bewildering to me why no studio’s done it yet. BR fans really want an open-world game for it.
