MSI Claims That The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt & Batman: Arkham Knight Will Support DX12

While CD Projekt RED and Rocksteady have not revealed anything about their latest games supporting DX12, MSI – best known for its motherboards and its graphics cards – has revealed that both The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Batman: Arkham Knight will support this new API from Microsoft.

As MSI noted:

“The most exciting part of Windows 10 for gamers is the introduction of DirectX 12. You are likely to start seeing the benefits of the new graphics technology already in The Witcher 3, Batman: Arkham Knight and more games released later this year. Some CPU-bound games like MMO’s are able get a performance bump of up to 50% according to Microsoft.”

For all we know, this could very well be a typo, so take it – at least for now – with a grain of salt.

For the record, we strongly believe that both The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Batman: Arkham Knight will benefit from this new API. However, we are almost certain that these two games won’t support it from the get-go.

Windows 10 are rumoured to be coming this July, meaning that both of these games will be already out. Therefore, our guess is that DX12 support may come as a future patch for both of them.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt releases this May, whereas Batman: Arkham Knight releases this June!

  1. >You are likely to start seeing the benefits of the new graphics technology already in The Witcher 3, Batman: Arkham Knight

    >likely
    :/

  2. Considering The Witcher 3 has gone gold then no it won’t support dx12 at launch. After launch is possible but I can’t see it happening

    1. The cause of all those delays was Assassin’s Creed Unity. Developers are now scared to release their games in an unpolished state.

      1. And that’s a really good thing on my book 🙂
Ubicrap and their crappy practice should never be tolerated

      2. It’s not like ACU was the first-ever release of an unpolished game. And marketing departments are well known to use PR speak. CDPR is no exception.

  3. you know the release date of windows 10 is “likely” july and tec preview ended april 15 so whats we have to wait and when i mean wait with micorsoft bugs is defiantly a wait if not for microsoft for drivers to mature amd/nvidia ps windows is taking a differnet approach to win consumers back so windows 7 onwards according to this interview will support dx12 http://channel9.msdn.com/Events/Build/2014/9-004

  4. If it will support DX 12, I will wait for it to happen first before playing it 😉

Edit : Oh wait —__— . Now that I examined the sentence quoted more, I think it meant technologies like tessellation, godrays, occlusion, Nvidia techs or whatever new techs there are and that it will improve in DX 12. MSI only mentioned W3 and B:AK as references and coz they’re both very anticipated games

  5. Im not sure if i missed it but i don’t remember an article about the microsoft hololens. While it isnt directly related to gaming, it is related to windows.
