Grand Theft Auto V Looks Ridiculously Beautiful with SweetFX & Rendered at Extreme Resolutions

K-Putt – best known for his amazing SweetFX configurations – shared with us some images from GTA V (with SweetFX enabled). GTA V looks ridiculously beautiful with SweetFX when rendered at extreme resolutions. For bandwidth purposes, we’ve re-sized these images (as each image was 40MB in size). Be sure to visit K-Putt’s FlickR page for the uncompressed shots. Enjoy!

  1. I prefer the look of the normal game w/o SweetFX. All SweetFX does is turn up the contrast to eye blinding levels. I don’t understand why people love it so much.

    1. SweetFX has more options than just increasing the contrast. You must be looking at the crap sweetfx configs

    2. I’m sorry if what I am about to say (type) comes out as aggressive but:
FFS there’s a lot of settings to be tweaked in the tool, if someone messes things up, it isn’t the fault of the tool itself. IT IS a great tool.

No, it doesn’t. It does a whole lot more. It just requires actual configuration and adjustment. Much of the time, people just install it and use whatever is default, or they do some tweaks, and because of lack of experience, and lack of even a somewhat keen eye, they end up adjusting to whatever makes a stark, loud difference.

Also, the two commenters who replied to you, “jim2point0 and K-putt,” you should go check out their stuff. They do a lot of visual “modding” and screenshotting, and don’t fall trap to those oversaturated, overly contrasting colors and levels that most end up with when trying to use SweetFX etc.

  2. I hope someone is able to mod vehicle FoV in first person mode. The immersion when driving around in first person is insane, but it’s hampered by the horrible low FoV.

    1. Well… that’s like…. your opinion, man.

My opinion: SweetFX IS needed because the game allows you to use FXAA, but not SMAA. SweetFX allows you to inject SMAA, which is superior to FXAA in just about every way possible. I don’t believe K-Putt used any other shaders (except for maybe a little sharpening) in these shots. I think maybe having SweetFX in the title is actually misleading, as people will think he used it extensively.

  3. The game already looks great and i like the fact that Rockstar did not implemented all kinds of shtty gfx effects you see nowdays. The game looks vivid, clean, beautiful.

  4. Looks pretty good but i’d imagine its easier to notice the improvements when its actually in motion in front of you. Give it a couple of months an modders will hopefully have this baby pushing top end graphics cards to the limit.
