Infinity: The Quest For Earth Gets New Screenshots

I-Novae Studios has released a new set of screenshots for Infinity: The Quest For Earth. The team plans to launch a Kickstarter campaign for the game in 2015, and will be sharing more screenshots in the coming months. It will be interesting to see whether the game’s concept will stay intact, as that 2010 trailer was simply mind-blowing (included below). Enjoy the new screenshots after the jump!

  1. Very anticipated game… But I almost lost hope that its developers can solve their obvious management and PR issues to finish their great task.

  2. Let’s see if they release this before Elite Dangerous release their planetary landings…which I’m looking forward of course. 😉

  3. I have been following this “game” for almost 8 years. In that time besides the shiny tech demo which at the time blew me away is nothing more then the same tried and true gimmick.

    This is from 2006 and 2007 people

    Editor’s choice for the most anticipated standalone game of 2006

    Honorable mention for the player’s choice of the most anticipated mod of 2006

    Player’s choice for the standalone game of the year category (received the highest number of votes, but ineligible due to not being released yet)

    Editor’s choice of 2007

    Infinity also received a Visual Delight Award from ModDB in 2006.

    At this point I see nothing more that grabs my attention. Between Elite Dangerous’s open world and planetary landings and interactions (Which I hope the studio does follow through) and Star Citizen’s offerings this game is eclipsed at this point.

    For over 8 years they have teased us with this and that, pictures and a small limited combat alpha.

    Back then all of the procedural stuff the open ended exploration seemed very enticing. Now with one game already out offering much of what is toted here and a another one on its way i feel this is too little too late. Vaporware, very very good looking vaporware is what this “so called” game has become. Id love to be proven wrong but after 8 years you are asking for a kickstarter (Mind you the main dev wanted to license this game engine to others and clearly that did not work hence the kickstarter campaign) shows to me you have no sense of direction or ideas where to go with this game and your PR is a mix between no info, and lackluster screenshots while trying to deliver something you promised and set out to do 8 YEARS AGO.

  4. Same problem as No Man’s Sky. What the hell do you DO in the game? Flying around endless space is cool and all but that’s not a game. A game needs goals and the threat of failure.

    1. It’s online game, like EVE but with direct control. Possible doings are:
      – farm the mobs;
      – dig the resources;
      – create the alliances;
      – conquer the galaxy;
      – seek the Earth;
      – take part in another global events;
      – make the user generated content.

      But as I and John Price wrote the game development is toooooo protracted to believe that it can be successfully finished.

      1. Those are absurd plans for an indie or small studio. It’s definitely vaporware then. How can they be so foolish? Who is giving them money to pretend to work on this?
