Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes – PC Requirements Coming Soon, Framerate Locked At 60FPS

Earlier today, the official Steam page for Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes got updated with some minimum PC requirements that surprised quite a few PC gamers. However, Konami and Valve reacted fast and took them down almost immediately. And as Robert Peeler – Online Community Manager for Kojima Productions – said, the official PC requirements will be coming soon.

Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes is releasing on December 18th, and according to Robert Peeler, the framerate will be locked at 60fps. Now we know that this lock will disappoint some of you, however it’s at least a 60fps and not a 30fps lock.

Moreover, Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes will support both gamepads and mouse+keyboard control schemes. And as you’d expect, keyboard and Mouse users will be able to map controls to the keys or mouse buttons they choose.

For those interested, we’ve added below those minimum requirements. Do note that they are not the official, and that they may contain spelling errors.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

OS: Windows Vista, 7, 8
Processor: Corei5 SandyBridge 4Core(4Thread) 2.7GHz or above

  1. Huh this will be interesting, wonder if the pc port will be any good. Never played a metal gear game, but have heard crazy decisive opinions on this series, can’t wait!!

      1. As long as you don’t have your PC hooked up to a TV through HDMI… Nasty bug that forces the refresh rate to 24hz and hasn’t been fixed by the devs yet. A Steam user released a fix that works, though, so it’s not the end of the world. 😉

  2. these were posted on steam store page before they got removed:
    MINIMUM:

    OS: Windows Vista, 7, 8

    Memory: 4 GB RAM

Graphics: GeForce GTX 650 or above

  3. It is probably engine related. I assume the Fox Engine isn’t optomized for over 60fps, just like the Evil Within. At least they are aiming for 60 and not 30.

    1. thats the problem this gen with the crappy console hardware, if you buy dual GPU’s need to put that into higher resolution gaming

    2. thank god you’re just a minority or many would drown in your tears i guess… 144hz and 400fps for a game that doesn’t need anything more than 60fps , also engine is probably locked for 60fps so i guess you’ll be missing out of best game of 2014 then

        1. no its not a demo , its a prologue and it can last way more than 3 hours.. its made for fans of the game , so i don’t really expect everyone to understand but you should give the series a try. and i’m pretty sure it’s one of best games to come out this year.. there’s nothing but recycled crap we see every year , like COD , AC and also FC4 that is exactly the same game like FC3 only different levels.

    3. yea you should ask yourself , why did i buy 120hz/144hz monitor for console ports instead of competitive gaming like CS , DOTA or SC2

  4. This Gen is Aggressive for some PC Gamers… 1st No support for the 32bit now Locked 60fps WELCOME SLOW MO!!!

    1. haha the no 32 bit thing is hilarious to me. it baffles my mind how sometimes i see morons asking why it the game wont work on windows xp 32 bit, it makes me want to punch myu mopnitor everytime i see that

        1. I know yes. I just meant that in 8 years time when 4K 120fps will be easily attainable, there would be a fix as well.

    1. Yeah, WTF how in the world can they do SH*T like this!
We who have g-sync monitors then and those with 120+ should be even enough for those F**S not to pull this crap!

    2. That’s nothing-at least you still get to play it.

Try waiting for months for a game that finally makes it’s way to the PC only to discover that your region is locked out from purchasing it(MGR: Revengeance). I’m still waiting for news whether MGS: Ground Zero will also slap me in the face with it too.

Even Valkyria Chronicles is region locked in Japan. It’s not locked in my region but the practice is so random and out of the blue that it’s a worrying aspect for any PC gamers anticipating future Japanese games coming their way.

  5. Well even if it has a locked FR I know it will not want a 680gtx min requirement. Besides All my Konami games from the past years on PC have been great.

  6. I think this is a good minimum. 120 or even unlocked would be better of course, but i’m fine with 60.
Hopefully it also supports super high resolution like 4k and higher.

  7. It should be illigal to do SH*T like this on the Pc!
Come the F*CKN on and make it a BLOODY standard to NEVER look the fps on the Pc and + allways have a F*CKN FOV slider you RETARDED developers SH*T!!

    1. why would you need more than 60fps for this game? no one is gonna modify half of their engines just so the can please 3 people with 144hz monitor.. its a miracle this is coming on PC and you cry about unlocked fps that has no benefits for this game at all

  8. when mgs will have crowds of hundreds of people and all those simulations unity has then we can compare the system requirements.

  9. Hey whining kids. 60FPS lock is probably all about the budget. And Kojima is probably not willing to invest that much in PC version due to piracy fears. Maybe it’s 60FPS because that’s what the game was designed for. Anything else could screw it up. (there are ALOT of console games developed around a fixed framerate)

And 60FPS is not just a random number. it involves the animations, the rendering and alot more stuff. And changing all those require money. We all know how much effort it took Capcom to convert RE4 to 60FPS. And again that took money to convert!

And how big the 120-144hz PC gaming market is? like 1%. Just be grateful we are getting MGS. I AM! who knows maybe after the release there will be a way to unlock it without any major problems.

    1. hey whining kid, you are whining about whining, which is worse, as an owner of a 144hz monitor you can fuck straight off…this is probably because they did the newb peasant development mistake of tying physics to framerate ffs.

  10. maybe it’s like skryrim and the physics are tied to the framerate (60hz) which imo is a failure as an owner of a 144hz monitor.
