The Evil Within has just been released, and Bethesda has released the launch trailer for this new horror survival game. The Evil Within was developed by the mastermind behind the original Resident Evil, Shinji Mikami. We’ll be sure to cover this game, so stay tuned for our Performance Analysis. Until then, enjoy the trailer!

Where is the drama? where is the crap port? Where is the hate?
Oh right i forgot that will come when ubisoft releases their next game.
Yeah, let’s wait for Far Cry 4.
Oh i am so gonna be furious when ubi kiev ruins fc4 when it runs on the same engine as fc3 did.
At least it looks good. Can’t say the same about Evil Within.
i dunno, i have not seen textures as varied as this in any game to date. I think the textures and lighting make this one of the most atmospheric games i have ever played. It looks very good with some things like characters that could be a bit better.
But the amount of detail in the textures is like none i have ever seen. Id tech 5 does have it’s high points.
I hope you understand that a game engine has nothing to do with amount of details in a texture.
lol, talk to me when you understand what is special about id tech 5 and what i meant by texture detail.
And how do I know what you meant by “texture detail” without talking to you? I’ve seen different textures in Evil Within. Some of them are good, some of them are from the PS2 era. Same as in every other console game, and it has nothing to do with a game engine.
true but evil within was ported by japanesse devs on a infamous bad engine with opengl and they messed with that engine to make it use dynamic lighting and shadows, something wolfenstein does not have.
id say looks slightly better but thats it.
I run fc3 with 60 fps with ease.
If i run this badly someone is gonna get it.
I AM LOOKING AT YOU UBI KIEV.
Ubi don’t need Kiev to screw up the PC port. See Watch Dogs.
true the entire studio is made of french consoletards.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tIEEXpnuyEc speaking of which.
The trailer, which I assume presents a more cinematic view, has no letterbox. The game has a ATROCIOUS letterbox that practically everybody is complaining that gets in the way of gameplay.
and you can remove it as well as get rid of 30 fps.
It can be moved at the expense of diminished FOV. The letter box is removed by cropping the image and it turns one problem, into another problem.
They need to a FOV and proper fullscreen option ASAP. This is ridiculous.
i watched someone playing it on twitch for 4 hours with the fixes i didnt feel the fov was terrible then again i havent played it yet.
The console is there, the only thing bethesda needs to do is give us the command.
Loved cinematic view…at last someone is venturing in new ways(yep not that new)… almost a indie feeling in a AAA game.
I love that jap guy! And the game is great… deal with it!
LoL the 4GB vram was pure marketting BS. The game doesn’t even max out 2GB GPUs. At 1080p of course.
it runs on old cpus as well.
From steam forum
“Emailed Bethesda saying that the game runs fine on 2GB cards and and my i5 4690k 3.5GHz that they should consider updating the steam page and the guy said
“Yeah I must say we went a bit over the top with the requirements on this game, I am actually quite happy the game runs so smooth and doesnt require the hardware because I was afriad that my PC couldnt handle it”
He then goes on to say that he doesnt know if they’re working on a patch to fix existing issues reguarding performance and the poor graphic options which I hope will come soon
Its pretty clear that this game was tested on one or even no systems before launch so they just threw together any requirements they could”
I agree. It’s like they just tested it on a GPU with 4GB vram ( maybe one from the new 900 series) and assumed that the game needs 4GB vram.
Wow, there is a Geforce Gtx 7980, i lost 70 geforce card series, my pc is really ancient.
Dude it’s probably just a typo. They are probably just referring to the 980. Gamegpu is a very reputable site.
Thanks Mr. Cat 🙂
they came clean in steam after that 4GB req. they said it needs 4GB shared graphic memory not 4GB dedicated video memory. i guess you can find the post in their steam’s community page.
That’s for an UltraCinematic experience.
the game runs great for me but in the games’s menu the mouse feels sluggish. Usually when that happens it’s an indication that the game will run like crap, but it doesn’t.

I think this review is great, it touched on all the things i found good so far about the game, unexpectedly good the evil within is.
