The Evil Within may very well turn into the worst PC game (at least when it comes to the overall quality of the PC version) of 2014. After those ridiculous system requirements, a new rumor arose yesterday, suggesting that the PC version may be locked at 30fps. And what’s even funnier is that Bethesda has not yet commented on those rumors, suggesting that this may very well be legit.
When a fan asked Bethesda’s senior producer, Jason Bergman, whether the PC version will be locked at 30fps, Bergman did not provide a concrete answer. This particular fan has been asking this very same question over and over again, but Bergman declined to give a simple answer regarding this crucial detail.
Moreover,’Cboat’ (an industry insider) claimed that The Evil Within PC will be indeed locked at 30fps.
Bethesda has not commented yet on these rumors, however we strongly suggest being cautions about the PC version of The Evil Within. At least until we get our hands on it.
Stay tuned for more!

4GB of VRAM for a game that looks like the 1st Dead Space. I really think something is wrong with this game.
it looks worse than the first dead space check the latest trailer.
Even the worst port of the decade shouldn’t have those requirements , when you look at dem visuals of this game . I was expecting this game to be good but now I’m a bit disappointed.
TRUE true, some dutch site said the game is indeed 30 fps and its made by a third party studio.
I love the trailer, the gameplay is so RE4 but looks like this will be crapy port of the century.
In realted news driveclub flopped, demfax be mad.
We have to wait and see. It would be a shame though.Looks like a decent game.
Look at that dishonest p**ck dancing around the question. Denial just means that yes, PC will be locked to 30.
That’s the only clue that makes me think the 30fps lock isn’t real. I hope so.
GET REAL, WHAT BETHESDA PC GAME HAS EVER BEEN LOCKED AT 30FPS?! QUIT SPREADING FUD & USE YOUR BRAINS!
Bethesda is only the publisher.
shut up troll and leave
its a japanesse game.
Jesus Christ…this combined with the ridiculous specs they released makes me wonder if they’re actually trying to sabotage they’re own sales. Are they allergic to money?
nah they are japanesse.
Oh FFS!
Seriously, this isn’t a industrial secret, people have a “eternal war” over things because of these bs “stunts”. Just be honest, open, put up a bloody human who can interact with another and answer a f’ing simple question. I keeping asking myself, what the f are these people afraid of? As far as I can think of games were always a success (post the “80’s crash”), why the need to keep everything “under the hood”? This is a market based on TRUST.
If you don’t/can’t trust your consumer and keep threating him like a idiot, I see no justifiable way for you to have any claim about what is right and what is wrong in the bloody market.
4GB VRAM, idtech5, 30 FPS, sub-HD 21:9 resolution… I’m sorry Mikami. While I really want to support your new horror game, I just can’t purchase a PC title with so many cons. Sorry…
japanese devs still thinks PCs are as fast as a PS3
rumors are that PC port is worked on by some other studio , my guess its just bethesda wanting to earn more cash and that Mikami and his team didn’t had PC version in mind , Japan devs were always more console oriented
id like to know which that studio is because they must live in narnia to have such hard time communicating requirements.
If it was on me i would just let them finish the pc version not release on launch.
Also more and more japanesse devs jump on pc, they cant stay behind.
i read that on neogaf , might not be true but regardless , im glad this is coming on PC , DarkSouls was 30fps as well and i didnt had problems , some games can actually pass with 30 fps, but most of them cannot on PC. but we better wait until its out so we dont need to guess
i would have been fine with a crap port hat doesnt have high requirements at the very least someone could figure out a way to unlock the framerate.
but this looks like a trainwreck.
If I can’t play a game on PC at a constant 60fps, then I don’t play it. It’s as simple as that. If it’s a hardware issue, then I upgrade to something that makes 60fps possible.
If it’s a developer issue, then I don’t purchase their crappy game.
idtech 5. worst game engine of the decade. it needs to be shit-canned asap.
also agreed
yey, lets make a game that looks like it made in early 2000 and needs top end 2014 systems to run at 30fps and it’s 50GB for no reason. how they managed to lock it at 30fps ? in all the gameplay videos i saw it has huge fps drop everywhere
Guys, a simple downgrade is a past now. From now on Bethesda games also will be locked to 30 fps and 900p on PC. Welcome to the bright glorious future!
Future might be very much bright for PC gaming. HSA (GPGPU widely used), MANTLE/DX12/OGLNext, PhysX FLEX, Bullet v3, etc. are here or planned and support should grow. Another question is if game developers will use them.
Unfortunately we cannot expect support from engine based on OpenGL 3!!!
Also take a look at the last trailer those are some 2008 blurry fallout textures right there.
Bethesda has been completly vague about everything i dont see any reason to go buy the game when i got zero evidence how it will run on my pc. Thats some completly amateurish effort.
well said man, blurry fallout textures
that’s exactly what i felt after last trailer
Yeah the stoopid devs seems to do their best to make this the stinker of the year. F*CKN morons, 30 fps and sh*tty textures. Yeah thats how to treat the Pc gaming community. But hey thats what you get when you use one of the absolute worst crappy engines ever made by a man that lost it long long ago huh :/
And yes of course im talking about carmac. Im glad he quit making engines. He will be of way better use at Oculus VR I guess!
Its not even them aapparently its a porting dev because japan sucks on pc.
This engine need to die, YESTERDAY
30fps makes more sense for a horror game? Wow…….. just wow… This bs should be illegal.
yes it does and the black lines and crappy aiming also do.
What you dont understand?
lol i remmber the infamous post by playstationblog saying “i was worrying the 60 fps will ruin the cinematic feeling of TLOU but it works well there is a 30 fps option for purists”
Why idiots like that are allowed to post on game jounalism?
Yeah , I laughed so hard when I read that headline . It was an article about TLOU:R on Eurogamer . LMAO.
The sad thing is that peasants who use steam actually believe this and defend he 30 fps lock on evil witih.
Yea, any interest I had for this game died with the extremely lazy optimization job they have done. Did you see the specs page? this is gonna have worse optimization than Watch_Dogs…
*Edit: Also, i am so f’ing tired of game developers pretending that 30fps is a f’ing design choice. 30fps is a hardware limitation, this isn’t film, higher framerates = superior.
Damn it not my performance! i am fine with the specs and graphics but you dare giving me “makes more sense, because it is a survival horror” to make yourself believe that 30 fps is okay. I really hope this rumour stays as a rumour D:
When that is said, if the game is good, i’m still okay with it, i’ll be playing with controller anyway i guess.
Told you so and that means those fag**ts wont get a F*CKN cent from me!
If this is true, they can go straight to HELL!
Seems like , this game is going to be a complete disaster on PC .
WTF!!!
With those requirements?? I can’t believe this…
Intel Core i7 required and 30FPS only available.
That is just hilarious!
30 FPS is not that bad for 3rd person games, but this lock should reflect requirements and developers should also give a valid reason why they cannot deliver more than 30FPS.
All PhysX games can hardly get close to 60FPS on mainstream HW for instance. 30FPS lock might have valid reasons behind but unless we know those reason, it is and always will be just bad port for us.
While im not personally interested in this game, i can understand the feeling of disappointment from poor ports to PC gamers.
Yes, yes, developers….First the requirements, now this.
Keep doing this and cry saying that the PC versions don’t sell well.
Bunch of as*****.
It’s still a Rumor people!! Let wait and see. Just don’t preorder.
with the specs they listed you weren’t going higher than 30 with full quality settings anyway
Thank you $0N¥. All because of your underpowered PauperBrick4 selling well.
