Our reader ‘Unreal’ has shared with us a new gameplay video of GTA IV, showing what Rockstar’s open-world game looks like at 4K (3840×2160) with iCEnhancer 3.0. The end result is glorious, so make sure to view the video at its native 4K resolution. Unreal used an i5 2500K (overclocked at 5Ghz) with a single GTX670 (overclocked 1300/7200) and as we can see, GTA IV ran on this setup incredibly smooth even at this ultra high resolution. Enjoy!

To be honest I prefer Watch Dogs than this but they did a good job regardless. If only Watch Dogs was silky smooth on high/ultra textures. Hopefully R* will do a good job of GTA 5 on the PC and it doesn’t look like ported Xbox360 crap.

PC version of GTA V is NOT a port of anything. it’s a dedicated PC version, developed independently and with DX11 and x64 bit in mind. The PS4/XB1 versions are, however, PORTS of this PC version. dumbed down, stripped ports.
dedicated version MaxPayne 3 style or crapy marketing style as watch dogs ? R* leeds are good to creating/portin PC games, at least they did a great job on MP3, but are they really doing this with PC version of GTA V ? we know it was under development from last year when it was released on last gen consoles but is there anything else to back this up ? i think they are doing their best but we should wait and see

Nice shots don’t mean it’s not dated, anyone can make nice shots or downsampled shots. Also, GTA IV is an unoptimised POS just like Watch Dogs, funny you can stick up for it with downsampled shots that are not your own.
You can find lots of videos on youtube. It looks decent at least, not “really dated” as you said in your first post.

Sean is right. Finding a perfect screenshot of a heavily modified game does not prove anything.
Watch_Dogs is visually superior to GTA4 in almost every way, modded or unmodded, and for one simple reason: W_D more accurately simulates how light is scattered in the atmosphere. It makes all the difference. Maybe GTA4 can look nicer (at some angles) in regards to visual complexity, but a complex scene isn’t necessarily better looking. That car model, ported to W_D, would look better.
But back to sunlight: Sunlight itself is pure white, but it gets diffused by the dust in the atmosphere, turning the light blue. W_D has shaders that simulate this blue light on every surface, realistically. Perhaps GTA has a method of turning the scene blue, but likely with environmental lighting/ color grading, which is the old way of doing it. To simulate a night shot, like the one above, one needs to turn off both color grading and atmosphere (air is full of water) and rely purely on the color of lights in reflections. It looks good if you don’t know what to look for.
The ICEnhancer mod looks fantastic when paired with high-res textures and models, but all things being equal (visual mods added or just vanilla), W_D is capable of far more realism. Unfortunately Watch_Dogs can’t really be modded in the same way as GTA4, so equal comparisons are not possible.
He just jump on threads at the right time because he and so many people hate Watch Dogs and can’t give credit where credit is due. Setup screenshots to prove a point when the shots he puts up he doesn’t even understand what makes them look like that.
Bullshots are called that for a reason, GTA 4 is an unoptimised POS and people are only sticking up for it because their new hardware can run the game descent now, yet the game is a far worst port than Watch Dogs, that’s why it had to be modded since that’s what ICE and ENB is, make POS looking games look better.
You also should hate Watch Dogs. You said you hate Skyrim because Todd Howard lied, but Jonathan Morin lied like 10 times more. Yet, you even recommended this game for 30$.
Watch Dogs nearly sold a million copies on the PC, so they did something right, if it bombed you might have a point.

I’m not sure how you’ve drifted so far from the context of the discussion. I’m also not sure what it means to ‘protect’ a game. I’m extremely fair – ive bashed W_D as much as I’ve praised it. I probably bashed it a lot more, actually. But graphically the artists made a lot of good decisions that are decidedly ‘next-gen’ compared to GTA4.

Because people can’t get over the E3 hype and think they were getting it so they say the game is shit, no matter what then try to defend their point with GTA 4 modded shots about at game that was far worse port than GTA 4. People have short memories, they can play GTA 4 good now with ENB on their new hardware while Watch Dogs runs like crap, they just pick and choose their fight to shit on Watch Dogs or just shit on it because everyone else is.

Well, your ripped bullshots are not proof either and ENB is out of date in regard to actual tech of Watch Dogs by a long shot. You seem to think custom configs that don’t get shared for specific bullshots are somehow comparable to a vanilla game that looks superior and has superior graphics tech.
I didn’t compared GTA IV to Watch Dogs. I said that GTA IV looks decent and not “really dated”, and those screenshots are the proof. No matter downsampled or not.
If it isn’t enough, as I already said, you can find lots of videos on youtube with various settings, which actually looks great.
SOme good looking shots are not proof, there are lots of really dated effects and graphics even with ENB, the SSAO and water are just a few.
If it isn’t enough for you, go to youtube, and you’ll find the proof that GTA IV doesn’t look “really dated”. I would post a few videos myself, but you know DSOG don’t like links.
I’ve seen them and I’ve used the mod, doesn’t change the fact it looks very dated now, the SSAO looks ugly, the shadows look too blury, the tress look ugly, there is no grass just a flat textures, the building’s seriously lack polygons, lots of shadow flcker ,the water looks like goo, the distance buildings look poor and bad during the night as well.

GTA 5 sounds pretty impressive and well worth the wait.
the PC version of GTA V is the definitive version, was in development along side the last-gen versions since the beginning and well before the ps4/xb1 versions, which are, btw, ported from the PC version. GTA V on PC is not a port this time, but rather a dedicated build based upon DX11 and x64 bit foundations. there’s nothing to worry about.

One my my fondest gaming memories was when my friend and I booted up GTA 4 on his 360 and stepped out of Niko’s apartment, and seeing what a massive improvement (in technical terms) it was over the previous games in the series. The graphics, physics, character reactions, etc. That was when I knew games had taken a huge leap forward.
Just imagine what they will be able to do with GTA 5!

less than 60fps and not 4K. with iCEnhancer 2.1 + HD Textures and 50+ modded cars it runs for me 45 to 60fps, 1080p. didn’t tried 3. almost the same PC as you.
Do you get the taxes everywhere issues when using modded cars?
yes, but there is a fix for that which i don’t remember what it was. i guess another mod that fixing taxi bug. normaly 3 or 5 cars are ok, but when you go more than that taxi happenes, sometime all of the city become the car you are in. but that mod will fix the issue on 1.0.4. i still have problem with EFLC

I’ve been busy, I tried GTA IV for a very short time
I was getting 60 fps with no mods, then when I with 3.0 my framerate dropped to 30 (vsync on)
I’m gonna try again soon, this time with vsync off, I might try use the mid config
change your v-sync in nvidia’s control panel to “adaptive” that will fix switching between 30 and 60fps. when frame rate goes under 60fps it tears but better than switching 30 to 60 all the time

With AC4 I was getting 40-50 fps, then I used d3doverrider to force triple buffering, now I get constant 60 fps in AC4
sorry dude, i can’t remember the options. but you can force TrippleBuffering in your GPU’s controlpanel, same place as adaptive v-sync
