The Vanishing of Ethan Carter Looks Phenomenal, Gets New In-Game Trailer

The Astronauts have released a new trailer for their upcoming first-person weird fiction horror title, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is powered by Unreal Engine, uses the photogrammetry technology, and looks stunning. I seriously love its art direction, its attention to detail, its environments, its visuals, its overall atmosphere. The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is coming exclusively to the PC and promises to be this year’s sleeper hit. Enjoy!

  1. Damn stunning env. Just hoping what will comes to story, somewhat beautiful games lacks on it.

    Some exceptions of course!

  2. For some reason, I thought The Chinese Room were developing this game. They made Dear Esther and the two games kinda look similar.

Anyway, they’ve done an amazing job with the environments. I actually thought it was made with Cryengine instead of Unreal Engine 3.

  3. Its incredible how that is acceptable but a little salaciousness would have the game banned from Steam.

      1. DX9 is as all engines on PC misused, at certain point a can say on purpouse to release after it “GPU compatible”.

        1. Yep, and Imagine what they could do with DX11.2 😀 Still we have to wait for something Real in DX11.x or/& Mantle
Still in my opinion Crysis 3 & BF4 Have the Best visuals on PC

          1. Watch Dogs is way better than BF4(not E3 look but yet gorgeous).

But I would love if devs ditch DX in favor of openGL & Mantle. Nvidia User!

          2. It is quite brave of you to compare a third person game with a first person, the attention to details are not just prioritised equally. Sure Watch Dogs has it’s moments, it’s still not as graphical appealing as BF4.

I too would favour OpenGL, but OpenGL has it’s flaws and is internally a mess that needs rewriting. Can’t say i would like mantle prioritised either… since that would split the game optimisation yet again.

          3. I’m not completely sold on DX11. The effects it adds isn’t all that much better than DX9, not for the amount of performance hit.

It’s like DX11 improves the visuals 5-10% for a performance hit of 30% (that’s the best way I can describe it, lol). I’m not sure it’s really worth it.
