Speedrunner Finishes “Dark Souls 2” In 22 Minutes

Speedrunner ‘Distortion2’ has posted a video, showing Dark Souls 2 being completed in almost exactly 22 minutes. Naturally, Distortion2 has used various glitches to progress, making this video really cool. Perhaps it’s just me but I do love when speedrunners use glitches to complete the game as quickly as possible. Enjoy!

        1. no, i played and finished DeS and then DarkSouls (hardest one) on PC and now DS2. don’t get me wrong, DS2 is hell lot easier than DS, but i explore everything and everywhere

  1. Depends on the glich. If you use it to move faster or skip some locked door, then yes. But there are gliches that literally teleport you into the final credits 5-10 minutes into the game. That’s not really fun to watch, I think.

  2. On my 1st playthrough, it took me about 35 hours. I do like speedrunning but I didn’t get a chance to do it in DS2 though. I don’t really like the use of glitches though.

    1. You like speedrunning but you don’t like the use of glitches? Does not compute. Glitchfree runs are 1 in a million.

  3. Speedruns using cheats or glitches I don’t find impressive.
    Finish speedruns legit is pro.

  4. Good for him, he can use glitches to run really fast through a game… now let him play vs some real gamers with no glitches and see how long he “lasts” ; ) Not impressed by speedruns, (good for you, you skipped through the game in your underwear and missed all the actual fun of it…………think about that for a second to realize how dumb it is………)……these “speedrunners” are about as interesting as all the “lets plays!” on youtube…no thanks, I’d rather play the game myself than watch some random persom with a mic do it with “commentary”. Make your own commentary kids, play your own games, or stream with friends on ps4. Way way way way wayyyyyyy more fun than watching a random person. Just my opinion, obviously.

I have respect for TRULY skilled gamers…speedruns take little skill compared to competitive online gamers. Real gamers dont use glitches to impress by the way.

    1. SOrry “true gamer” “OMG look at me” but I think theres a different kind of gamers, gamers like you who feel “manly” cause they dont use glitches or cheats, or the other ones like this guy that surely wasted a lot of time looking in every corner of the game for glitches. I can bet this guy has a character that can beat yours in a minute. Its obvious that he has been playing this a lot, so he decide to go to the next level, a level you will never achieve.

      1. A level I won’t achieve? Speedruns take NO skill, especially ones that use glitches. Sorry if that offends you, but it’s the truth…. there is a difference between skill and someone who spends way too much time with one game just to figure out the fastest way to run through it. Anyone who wants to “spend” a lot of time to figure out the fastest way to get through a game can do a speedrun. Most people just don’t choose to “spend” their time that way (and by spend, I mean utterly waste), because like I already said – it takes no skill and therefore there is no VALUE for gamers to say “look at my speedrun skills!” …that’s like saying “i’m #1 in sleeping” ..good job.. but anyone who “tried” could do the same thing you do if they wanted to waste more time than you doing that…. it requires nothing more than lots and lots of time. No skill besides learning the basics of how to run past enemies etc, which most GOOD gamers know how to do……………….

Actually, and more gaming related…the speedrun subject reminds me of a stat that Konami themselves have said people are wasting their time setting in MGS: Ground Zeroes…. “most time spent on two wheels” which is a stat that the current “record holder” has gotten up to 16 DAYS I believe (by keeping their PS4 on for 16 days and rubber banding the dual shock 4 stick so it stays in place and the truck stays on 2 wheels forever……..) …so again – competition without skill and especially a competition without skill and WITH glitches is a meaningless competition because competition is inherently based upon SKILL.

  5. I found this legit, he demonstrated a deep knowledge of the game, and surely he was testing on all the walls looking for glitches. Glitches are not his fault but From Software.
Glitches are part of the games since 197X, People arent cheating but
using the backdoors the programmers left. Aside that people that look
for glitches needs to play a lot that game. Anyways theres a huge
difference between a walkthrough and a speedrun.

  6. So 1 in a thousand then? I am not opposed to glitch-free runs, I have contemplated the option myself in some games but in the end I always decide against it because it’s too time consuming. If a skilled player finishes the game in 5 hours on his first try then a glitchfree runner who is familiar with the game may be able to cut that time in half but you’re still looking at 2.5 hours of total playtime. Total playtime is very important, Fallout 1 only lends itself to glitchfree running because its design is so open when you know the objective you can complete the whole game in 10 minutes. A 3 hour run of Fallout 1 would be much less entertaining to watch and simultaneously it would require 18 times the effort on part of the runner. Single segment would be virtually impossible, barely anyone even has the time to run a 3 hour game on a regular basis.

          1. That’s not what that means, tard. Internet tough guys are people who threaten you and say shit like “you wouldn’t say that to my face, fight me IRL”.

I merely remarked that you must be pretty f*cking stupid to not see the appeal of speedruns even if it doesn’t work on you personally. I don’t like real time strategy games but I get why people play them and I wouldn’t stoop as low as calling them “stupid” just because I personally can’t get any enjoyment out of them.
