Our reader ‘Nick Parladikhs’ has informed us about a new video, showing what Metroid could look like in Epic’s next-gen engine, Unreal Engine 4. Created by ‘kwstasg’ this video borrows the environment of the Reclections Tech Demo from Unreal Engine 4 and shows a real-time model of Samus. It looks cool, so be sure to give it a go!

While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2. Nintendo games with good graphics? Never gonna happen.
It depends of what do you mean by good graphics.
wii was just two gamecubes merged together power wise, wii-u is just 3 wii`s merged together. nintendo rather have crappy gimicks then good graphics.
All Nintendo first parties have good graphics*. Wii only lack was resolution (just see they running on Dolphin, it’s awesome).
Still you only pointed hardware “thingies” (which I don’t, even partially, disagree).
We could argue about latest lightning systems, physics simulations, 4K gaming and all that stuff, but PC serves us in this case right?
*I believe that Art style is what fits better here. Still a fair point IMO.
Pikmin had pretty damn great graphics.
lol
i think the cartoonish style is intentional, still remember that gritty zelda cgi and then…..windwaker came out. pfffff
I think this demo serves more to showcase the effects than the Samus model :s
Meh. Don’t add particles just to showcase UE4 having emissive particles. I also hate when these videos make everything shiny to showoff screenspace reflections and image based rendering. It should be subtle please don’t overdo it.
If get to be developer someday i will only make my games for pc and Nintendo consoles.
Then I think we should partner up! 😀
