Gears of War: E-Day is now available to those who have pre-ordered its Premium Edition. Although the game does not have native support for DLSS 5, I was able to enable it via RHI. And man, this is another title that greatly benefits from DLSS 5. With DLSS 5, Gears of War: E-Day pushes visuals that we may only see in next-gen titles.
To enable RHI and DLSS 5, I had to disable the game’s Easy Anti-Cheat system. If you don’t disable it, Reshade will not work. Those interested can disable it with the Ultra+ Mod. You can download it from here. Once you have installed it, you must launch the game via the EACbegone.bat file.
Here are also the settings I used for DLSS 5. These settings not only enhance the in-game characters, but the environments as well.
And here are some comparison shots. The DLSS 5 shots are on the left, whereas the vanilla shots are on the right.
To capture the following screenshots, I used an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D, 32GB of DDR5 at 6000Mhz, NVIDIA’s RTX 5080, and RTX 5090. I also used Windows 10 64-bit and the NVIDIA Game Ready 617.14 driver.
Without Multi-Frame Gen, the game runs at 50FPS with DLSS 5. Since this is higher than 40FPS, you won’t have any input lag issues. Therefore, I highly recommend using Multi-Frame Gen. With DLSS 5 at 4K/Ludicrous Settings with DLSS Performance Mode and MFG X4, it was running at 170-190FPS. Without DLSS 5, it was running at 200-220FPS.
DLSS 5 can greatly improve the visuals in Gears of War: E-Day. Everything looks much, much better with DLSS 5. Ironically, Gears of War: E-Day is already a great-looking game. But with DLSS 5, it can look like a next-gen title. Or at least that’s the visuals we’ll most likely get when PS6 and Xbox Helix arrive.
If you own a high-end GPU like the NVIDIA RTX 5090, I highly recommend playing Gears of War: E-Day with a DLSS 5 mod. The visual presentation will be elevated to new levels with it. Owners of an NVIDIA RTX 5080 can also use DLSS 5 at 1440p (with the above settings). Or you can drop your settings to Ultra so that you can game at 4K (obviously with DLSS Performance Mode and MFG X4).
Our PC Performance Analysis for Gears of War: E-Day will go live this weekend. In that article, we’ll have benchmarks from various AMD and NVIDIA GPUs.
