Heatwarped Is a New Open-World Arcade Racer Inspired by NFS Underground

Sealime has announced a new open-world arcade racing game that is heavily inspired by NFS Underground, called Heatwarped. Moreover, the developer has shared a PC demo that you can download and play.

As its description reads, Heatwarped is an open-world arcade street racing game set in the 2000s. It features fast-paced driving, deep car customization, detailed environments, and a soundtrack that adds to the experience. The game aims to capture the feel of night-time street racing, with a city that comes alive as you race through its streets.

Now, as you will see in the trailer, the game has very retro 2000-style graphics. So, don’t expect it to look anything like the path-traced versions of the classic Need for Speed titles. This isn’t meant to be a next-gen NFS Underground game. Instead, it pays homage to them.

In short, retro fans will like this new arcade racing game. Newcomers, though, may be put off by its presentation. It’s a cool nostalgia trip, that’s for sure. So, it could win over those who have been waiting for a re-release of NFS Underground.

Sealime has also shared the game’s PC requirements. To run it, PC gamers will at least need an AMD FX 8320 or Intel Core i5-3570K with 4GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 or an AMD Radeon HD 7970. With this PC setup, you can run it at 1080p/Authentic Settings with 30FPS.

For gaming at 1080p/Enhanced with 60FPS, you will need an AMD Ryzen 5 5500 or Intel Core i5-12400F with 12GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 or an AMD RX 5600 XT.

There is currently no ETA for when the full version will come out. As I said, though, there is a free PC demo you can try. You can download it from this link.
