Gears of War Reloaded feature

Gears of War: Reloaded Day-1 Update Detailed – Full Patch Notes

Microsoft and The Coalition have released and detailed the day-1 title update for Gears of War: Reloaded. This patch will be automatically applied to the game. So, let’s take a look at what it brings to the table.

The Day-1 Patch brings lots of fixes and improvements. It fixes translation and text mistakes on the screen, and it makes controls respond better on some devices. Online play and matchmaking should also work more smoothly now. On top of that, the update adds quality-of-life changes. For example, handheld devices now switch correctly to mouse-and-keyboard mode when needed.

Not only that, but the patch fixes many crashes and makes the game run better on both PC and consoles. A big problem with low frame rates when using a DualSense controller on PC has been fixed too. PC players can now enjoy the game at up to 240FPS, which is a huge upgrade. The update also adds push-to-talk voice chat, better support for Ultrawide monitors, and more options to control mouse sensitivity. On top of that, there will be lots of dedicated servers, so players won’t have to wait in long queues to join a match.

Gears of War: Reloaded has just been released. Sadly, I’m on vacation and I can’t test it (even though I have already pre-loaded it on my main PC). So, don’t expect any performance impressions. I’ll be back this Thursday, so that’s when I’ll be able to test it. Thankfully, I’ll also be able to cover Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. So, good news to those who are curious about its performance on PC.

Stay tuned for more!

  1. The game runs fantastic. They did a superb job in terms of optimisation. Its bloody smooth and in 4K its reaching 200fps with everything kranked up.

DLAA 4K etc. its amazing that a UNREAL game can be so so sooo buttersmooth.
Love it. I got the game free because i already had the original one on my PC.
0 traversal stutters, or any other stutter.
This my friends makes me happy.

    1. It "runs fantastic" because as I found out recently this is a UE3 game, they were so lazy that they didn't actually bother to remake the game and have instead just re-released the game running on the same engine they released it the first time (and second time).

      1. They did remake the game.
Gears 1 was made on the first version of UE3, Ultimate was made on a newer than latest version of UE3, with custom tweaks on top.

It was 100% fully remade, aside from AI and animation system.

        1. They absolutely did not "remake" anything, this is just a port job of the Ultimate Edition from 2016 which was a visual downgrade in many areas such as rain and art direction. The ONLY visual differences you see in this 'new' version are from them choosing a slightly newer version of UE3. The cutscenes are even still locked at 30 FPS lmao. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/62c4b8e0ff6697e426af059bf5c55cbef53a0ea0fd7856bae3ec5ebaeb94aa57.png

          1. WHat make the size of this game up to 70 GB more ?? The 4K .bik video file that still on 30 fps… THats a shame… I wish they remade this fully realtime like Last Of Us Part1 Remastered to honor the legacy and shows how far tech have gone from 2006

          2. There are clear differences in the assets and textures. So yeah, it was remade. You gotta play it or watch nick930's comparison on YT before passing judgement.

          3. I literally own a copy of all 3 versions and have played all of them… there's no difference in asset/texture quality unless you're comparing the xbone version to the PC version.

          4. : sigh:

Ultimate / Reloaded is a 100% remake of Gears 1. Reloaded vs Ultimate is like a remaster at most, a patch at best.

          5. Thanks for confirming what I just said?
Original -> Ultimate, was a remaster with many issues.
Ultimate -> Reloaded, is little more than a patch/port.

          6. Original -> Ultimate: a remake. The visuals and assets were remade and expanded. Not remaster. Remake.

          7. Remaster and remake are literally interchangeable terms, the "remake" of Call of Duty 4 is called "Modern Warfare Remastered" despite it being a full graphical overhaul, same thing with Oblivion, Dark Souls, etc.
I don't know why you're nitpicking these terms anyway since my original post was quite specific that "they did not remake the game" referring to them just porting Ultimate and calling it Reloaded.

    2. The thing is, nobody owns a $2000 RTX 4090, much less owning a $6000 RTX 5090 except 0.001% of all PC gamers with no job and no life though.

EDIT: @sincereghost:disqus nailed it when he exposed the truth that this is actually still an UE3 demaster of a 20-year-old game. Yeah, this is the pathetic state of the modern gayming industry.

No wonder why nearly 90% of these woke western activists pretending to be "gamers" (more like gaymers) closed their shops in only 3 years since 2022 while Asian developers are flourishing and dominating the industry lately, because most of them haven't succumbed as much to Talmudick Satanism yet.

      1. I see that you're back again at trolling after a taking a break for over a year now. I remember you for the low IQ troll you are, I even remember you so clearly to the point that your previous PFP was a man strangling a woman. I don't respond to trolls.

        Blocked.

    3. This is not a good way to see it. Even with all the improvements (on top of an already improved version) it is ultimately still an UE3 game. Imagine an UE3 game not running at stellar levels of performance on a PC like that.

      1. Silent Hill 2, for example, doesn't look much better than this, yet it still runs poorly even with FG. UE5 is trash…

  2. re-re-release. yeah it runs well. it bloody well should. this thing came out 10 years ago and then 10 years before that. only now it has reloaded on the title. its sad the best games coming out, are ones that released 20 years ago.

    1. Gears Ultimate DID NOT look average for early 2016. It looked outstanding. Of course, Gears 4 later that year ended up looking ever better.

      1. That's what John wrote in his 2016 performance analysis, and I wasn't impressed either.

Moreover, I think the Ultimate / Reloaded version has a much worse atmosphere compared to the original with characters looking like a dolls for kids. See the comparison below (or watch "nick930" comparison on YT). I would rather play the original version because it's much more visually appealing, even with dated assets.

        1. Yup, the clean visuals of modern graphics. Can't have 'em lookin' all gritty and dirty now can ya? Gotta get that sterilised look you've seen a hundred times before.

        2. He used the botched PC version with black crush lightning and textures. The X360 version looks better and more natural. I like both the original and the remake, now better in Reloaded form. I found Ultimate absolutely great looking for PC in early 2016. It was not like state of the art, best looking AAA possible. But it was a visually a very polished remake. Only performance was all over the place back then.

          1. I played both versions (x360 and PC). The difference in black crush was minimal with the default post-processing, and the PC version also allowed you to adjust or even turn off post-processing. This meant that on PC you could get an image with no black crush and without any colour tint.

As for Reloaded, this version lacks contrast and iconic HDR look. Read the comments section under the nick930 comparison video (original vs. Reloaded). You won't find many people who prefer the Reloaded aesthetic.

  3. Don't know if it's a game issue or AMD issue or specific RDNA3 current issue:

The new high quality shadows for character and other dynamic objects are a mess, look worse than Shadow on Low. Absolutely needs fixing.

  4. PC: Fixed a persistent low-frame-rate issue when connecting a DualSense® controller to a PC.

Obvious hint, that they didn't do a base level of QA. LMAO.

  5. I played the whole campaign last night and it was just meh, I did play the original pc release before the ultimate still have it somewhere, 10gb installed from what I remember, this is 7x the size, Gears 5 is SMALLER install than this! and looks better at the same settings. muddy bland. I'm glad I got the repacked version, no problems playing, no crashes whole sp campaign in one sitting.

It was amazing back in the day but now it's just average, forgettable duck and cover game. I get the updated textures and such for the bloated size but unless you play at those resolutions it's a total waste.

WAY too many cutscenes and walking dialogue that likely added 10s of gbs by itself and sadly no repacker has downscaled those to cut the size down a lot. I guess the only reason for this is to fix the wonky "ultimate" edition many skipped like I did. I think the OG pc version was blackbox release.
