WUCHANG Fallen Feathers feature

A modder has fixed what NVIDIA and Leenzee couldn’t – DLSS 4 Frame Gen now works like a charm in WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers.

All hail modders. One of my biggest issues with WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers was that you couldn’t use DLSS 4 Frame Gen. For some weird reason, the game turned it off during cutscenes or certain in-game events. But now, thanks to a modder, you can finally turn it on and enjoy higher framerates.

This mod comes from modder ‘mmike0913’. As the title suggests, it fixes what NVIDIA and Leenzee couldn’t fix. With this mod, the game will never turn off DLSS 4 Frame Gen. As such, you will get a more consistent experience when using it. This means fewer stutters, too.

Right now, the mod is compatible with the Steam version. You might also be able to use it with the GamePass version, though the modder has not tested it with it. Moreover, the mod needs to be updated whenever a new patch comes out. So, if you are using an older version, you may not be able to use it.

You can go ahead and download the mod from this link.

For what it’s worth, Leenzee released Patch 1.5 for WUCHANG. This patch brings major improvements to knockout recovery and flask speed. However, it did not fix this Frame Gen issue. It also did not pack any performance tweaks or improvements.

The good news is that this latest update has made some other major changes. For instance, it added dialogs for some NPCs to complete some plots. It also added some ‘Wuchang’ voice to complete the story, and added some NPC dialogues.

The devs have also optimized the game code in preparation for future patches to reduce VRAM usage. The aim here is to address frequent stuttering and other display issues caused by VRAM overflow.

Do note that this optimization will not have any effect on the traversal stutters. These will keep happening. As I’ve said, these aren’t happening only on PC. These traversal stutters also occur on consoles.

Like always, Steam will download this latest update the next time you launch its client. The Frame Gen Fix is compatible with Version 1.5. Thus, you can use it to play WUCHANG with silky smooth framerates on high-end RTX-50 series GPUs.

It’s also worth noting that in the previous update, the devs fixed the resolution scaling bug. You can now use DLAA or TSR at 100%. So, you won’t have to use any mod to use DLAA.

Speaking of mods, I highly recommend trying the ParryAnything Mod. This mod adds a parry system similar to the one in Sekiro. With this mod, you can block any enemy attack by parrying. If you time it right, you won’t take any damage, and the enemy will be stunned for a short time.

Have fun!

  1. Framegen costs VRAM and it might not have been turned on by choice because it could be a public relations disaster for 8 GB GPU's that aren't selling that have been attacked (rightly so) by the tech guys and gamers.

From an old reddit comment and I found this to be true.

"at 1080p, it will usually be 500 mb to 1 gb. this is problematic for 8 GB cards, as most games already push the 8 GB to its limits.

at 1440p, it will usually be 1 gb to 2 gb. this is problematic for 12 gb cards, as in siutations you need DLSS3, the card will run out of VRAM to get benefit from it (in future)

some games will swap textures out when you enable frame generation and make it appear like everything is fine and DLSS3 is not adding vram usage"

but the game eventually turns into a stutter fest in a long play session once you run out go in and out of too many zones.

      1. They just released a disposable 8GB GPU's to 🙂

But yeah 4070 really couldn't run RT well so 12 GB was fine. 4070Ti was complete nonsense having 12 GB and 5070 was just as bad.

5070 having 12 GB of VRAM might be the greediest thing Nvidia has done in recent memory. They knew people were looking for a GPU that was close to next console level and they screwed them on VRAM so it would be crippled on higher textures.

There have been 3 cards with actual value in years now. 4090 which required a lot of money and which most people couldn't afford, 9070XT and the 9070TI. Literally everything else is disposable junk due to VRAM, upscaling that sucked on AMD cards until current gen0 (which is used to bypass blurfest temporal AA not just upscaling) or is a complete rip off. A 5090 class card is overkill with DLSS 4 and the price will skyrocket down with the next console release if they can really hit a 5080 level target.

        1. I kind of blame AI for this. Both nvidia and amd switched their priorities to focus on AI first. Nvidia don't really care about gamers anymore as they make way more money in data centers. And all the profits they make; they keep investing on AI.

          1. I mean, if I was them I would do the same too for my own bottom line. Of course I'll do the thing that earns me more money for the effort needed. I'm not saying gamers shouldn't be upset, I'm just saying that's how it is.

          2. Well if you had a choice between a job that paid $20/hr or a job that paid $200/hr which one would you take?

And why would you expect Nvidia to act any differently than you yourself would?

Here's a little fact ….. over 50% of Nvidia employees are worth north of $25 million which is why Jenson had a 96% approval rating in 2024 from current and former employees. Wife having a baby? Three month paid maternity leave, six months for female employees.

        2. I have a 4070 Ti and have never had memory problems with a 1440P Ultrawide (30% more pixels to drive)

AC Shadows no frame gen =6815 MB
AC Shadows with Frame Gen = 6815 MB

HZD Remaster with frame gen 10.4 – 10.9 GB
