Microsoft and The Coalition have launched the second major beta phase for Gears of War: Reloaded. And, since the teams have provided us with a code, we’ve decided to take a look at it. How does this beta run on a high-end PC system? Well, let’s find out.
For these initial benchmarks, I used an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D, 32GB of DDR5 at 6000Mhz and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 Founder’s Edition. I also used Windows 10 64-bit and the NVIDIA GeForce 576.80 driver.
Gears of War: Reloaded will have 4K assets. It will also have enhanced post-processing visual effects and improved shadows and reflections. MS also claims that there will be support for HDR, as well as for Dolby Vision & 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos. Plus, there will be zero loading screens during the campaign.
Perhaps the best thing about GoW: Reloaded is its PC features and QoL improvements. For instance, the PC version will have support for ultrawide monitors and variable refresh rates. It will also come with a benchmark mode. Plus, there will be support for NVIDIA DLSS 3.5 and AMD FSR 3.1 from the get-go.
As I’ve reported, the game’s graphics are nothing to write home about. Gears of War: Reloaded seems to use the same 3D models as the Ultimate Edition. The devs didn’t update them. Because of this, the game’s environments can look blocky, and the characters might not look as good as expected.
At Native 8K with DLAA and Ultra Settings, the game runs with a minimum of 44FPS and an average of 55FPS. This means that with DLSS Quality, you will be able to get over 60FPS at 8K. At Native 4K with DLAA/Ultra, I was getting over 166FPS at all times. As for Native 1440p, we were over 262FPS at all times. And yes, even at 1440p we were GPU-limited, and not CPU-limited.
My biggest issue with this latest beta build of Gears of War: Reloaded is the texture streaming issues. You can clearly see this at both 4K and 8K. I don’t know why, but the game takes a long time to load the high-res textures. As such, it can look pretty ugly. I seriously hope this is something that the devs will address in the final build.
Microsoft will release Gears of War: Reloaded on August 26th. That’s almost two months from now. So, the devs have enough time to address this tech issue. Or at least I hope so.
Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

How dudes in DSOG see themselves: Gears of War 😠💪🏻☠️⚠️
What they actually play: Stellar Blade, Atelier Yumia 💅🏻👗👸🏼
GOW is overrated anyway.
I was taking the looks for reference, nothing more.
GOW 1 and 2 are very good games
What's "reloaded" about it? Looks like a 10 year old (at least) game. Bad textures and old animations.
i got the game for free because i owned the original one. So check Gamepass if you have the original one you will get the newest one as a free gift.
Can confirm. Bought it for pc digitally years ago. Mid June got sent a code for a free copy of reloaded. I will say i did not notice a code in the Xbox app for pc and only saw it on my series X. Reloaded is play anywhere though so I’ll have it for both pc and console on release.
Gameplay is clunky as hell, maybe in 2006 it was something cool, but in 2025 it's just bad.
Connection quality is mid. Lobby system is straight from 2006.
The game favors gamepad and adds strong aim assist, that's why console bots are rushing and spamming cover movement to everyone with shotguns.
TTK was always bad in Gears.
