Bohemia Interactive has released Title Update 1.28 for DayZ, and shared its full patch notes. The team has also shared a new trailer for it. So, let’s take a closer look at what this patch brings to the table.
Title Update 1.28 was made using feedback from players during its testing phase. Thanks to this feedback, the update brings some cool new features to the game.
The game will now have dynamic world events. This means that random things can happen in the game world, making it feel more alive and exciting. The update also adds more weapons for players to use, giving you more ways to fight and survive. Plus, it improves how vehicles work together in multiplayer, making driving and teamwork smoother when playing with friends.
In addition, the update adds dynamic wrecks to the Sakhal map, which makes surviving more exciting and realistic. Gunfights will feel different now because the update improves how weapons handle. Driving also feels smoother and more real thanks to better car physics. On top of that, guns sound more powerful and lifelike with new firearm sound effects.
The island of Sakhal should also be much more active and exciting. Players will now find patrol boats, both fishing and military, near the coast. These boats may have useful loot onboard.
Along the main roads, there will be ambulance wrecks. These often have basic medical supplies, but be careful—they are usually surrounded by infected enemies.
Helicopter crash sites have also started showing up on Shantar Island and the Burukan Peninsula. These crash sites can make travel harder, but they also bring new chances to find rare gear.
And that’s not all. Patch 1.28 adds two new weapons. These are the R12, a semi-automatic shotgun with robust attachment options, and the RAK 37, a returning .380-caliber SMG featuring both 15- and 25-round magazines.
This new update adds three cool new scopes for players to use. First, there’s the long-range Marksman scope, perfect for spotting enemies from far away. Next is the improved PSO-6 scope. Finally, there’s the Sportpoint sight, which has low zoom and is great for quick aiming.
Scopes now have even more features. They can show damage when they are worn out, and some now have glowing reticles that help you aim better in the dark. The rangefinder also got a fresh new look, making it easier to read and use.
Title Update 1.28 makes big changes to how guns sound and feel in the game. Now, non-automatic rifles have better and more realistic sound effects. When you shoot, it sounds more real and powerful. The way guns move has also been improved. If your weapon hits a wall or another object, it will now react by pulling back a little. This new “pullback” motion makes the game feel more natural and adds to the overall realism during fights and exploration.
Driving in DayZ is now much better thanks to a big update. The game’s developers have improved how the game handles vehicles between your computer and the server. This means cars and trucks should now drive more smoothly, even if your internet connection isn’t perfect. Before this update, vehicles could feel bouncy, floaty, or hard to control. But now, those problems should be mostly gone. Driving should feel more stable, more real, and a lot more fun.
Finally, the devs have improved the engine sounds at all distances. Whether you’re inside the vehicle, standing nearby, or far away, the sounds are now clearer and more realistic. This change will help players talk to each other more easily while riding in a car. At the same time, it still lets nearby players hear the vehicle, making the world feel more alive and believable.

This game is still only alive thanks to the community and mods.
It's 2025, and:
– Doors are still placed in the wrong way, and doors are opening in the wrong direction, pushing the player to the wall.
– We still can't jump over open windows.
– Every animation is too long.
– Still not responsive, pressing something 2x is a minimum.
– Manual mag reload, even the mag is loaded fully with ammo in our backpack, or sit in the armor.
– Hit detection is bad.
– Melee combat against zombies is bad
– Hit reg is bad.
– Netcode, connection quality is bad.
– PVP against players is bad.
– The character still can break both legs jumping from an object that is 1 meter high.
– Still do detailed stats.
– Still boring HUD, outdated HUD.
– Inventory management is still a nightmare.
– Zombies still are superfast.
– Zombies still can go through walls, doors like a ghost.
– Maps are too big for default 62 player count.
– Still not real PVE with quests, or missions.
I used to be a DayZ fan back in the Arma 2 mod days and when the standalone just got released (2013). After that though I stopped following it and now in 2025 I'm kinda suprised that after 12 (!) years of development this game still looks and plays just as janky as it used to all those years ago..
The last time I played there was almost no loot. Not much fun when you can't find anything. DayZ mod was better…
I also like how the mod looked in the visual department a lot more than the standalone.
