Sony has announced that all the improvements and tweaks of the remastered version of Days Gone will be available to PC for free. So, let’s see what’s in store for all Days Gone PC owners.
As Sony noted, on April 25th, it will release a new patch for the PC version of Days Gone. This patch will bring to the game the new tech features of the remastered version.
To be more precise, PC gamers will get official support for DualSense haptic feedback, as well as some new Accessibility features. Plus, there will be some graphical improvements.
For instance, night time will now be significantly darker. The devs have also improved screen space indirect lighting and ambient occlusion effects. Plus, shadowmap resolution will be doubled when Shadow Quality is set to Highest.
And that’s not all. The devs have implemented new Atmospheric/Sky simulation using ozone and spectral light simulation. This will improve overall color tone. It will also produce more accurate light intensities for the sky and sunlight.
Now while we’ll get all these tech features for free, we won’t get any of the new content. The new content of Days Gone Remastered will be locked behind the Broken Road DLC. So, to gain access to the Horde Mode, Permadeath mode and Speedrun mode, you’ll have to purchase the DLC.
I totally understand why Sony has put the new content behind a DLC wall. Thankfully, though, we’ll get the new technical features for free. So, that’s at least something.
From what I’ve seen, Sony hasn’t increased the game’s PC requirements. Still, you might need a bit more powerful PC system to run the new effects. So, be sure to keep that in mind.

It's not like they're crazy expensive effects like path tracing or something, it's closer to a bunch of moderate visual improvements. This is a UE4 title we're talking about here.
Even though this game already runs at like 90 FPS maxed out at 1080p on an RTX 4060, I still hope this update will bring upscaling and frame generation support. DLSS 4 DLAA is the best TAA there is and being able to play at 4K 60 FPS with a mid-range GPU wouldn't hurt.

Having a horde of zombies running towards you that you have to quickly eliminate in order to survive is not what I would call boring.

There is barely any horde in campaign mode and you can easily avoid then with the bike.

Free graphical update for the PC! Not bad at all and I really don't care about the other modes they're releasing.
Hundreds, if not THOUSANDS of extremely negative comments on Steam about this new patch. The game is apparently unplayable for most, it stutters like crazy, needs 20+GB of ram, has now unskippable intros and stuff, etc.
I haven't even had the time to try the original game, but I still have Fitgirl's repack, I think. I'll stick with this one for now.
I woudn't bother with the "remaster" or the base game if i where you.
Unfortunately, there's no DLSS/DLAA (or XeSS/FSR) upscaling, or Frame Gen support.
