Entertainment Weekly has revealed the first images for the second movie of Mortal Kombat. These images show off some of the new characters that appear on it. So, let’s take a look at them.
The first image gives us our first look at Johnny Cage. Karl Urban will play this character, so I’m curious to see what he has to offer. Urban is a talented actor but it will be really hard to beat Linden Ashby (who was charismatic, had a great sense of humor, and did most of his stunts). At least in my opinion.
The second and third images show off Kitana and Shao Kahn. Martyn Ford will play Shao Kahn and he is a great fit for that role. However, the helmet of Shao Kahn feels kind of… weird? I don’t know but something feels off with it.
The fourth image shows Hiroyuki Sanada who will return as Scorpion. The other returning characters are Liu Kang, Jax, and Sonya. And, in case you’re wondering, Cole will also return. Or at least that’s what we know so far.
I really hope MK2 will be better than the first movie. While the MK 2021 movie was gory with cool fatalities, it wasn’t as good as the 1995 movie. At least in my opinion.
Mortal Kombat 2 is scheduled to be theatrically released by Warner Bros on October 24th, 2025. Thus, we can assume that we’ll get its first trailer this Summer.

It is the same cast exactly. Just checked IMDB. Johnny Cage, Kitana and Shao Kahn were not in Mortal Kombat (2021) and all other actors are reprising their roles.
Sonya looks old and definitely not hot.

Im surprised that with the reboot, NRS didnt lean more into movie tie-ins with it. The first movie was entertaining and a great watch on streaming during covid. I expect the second to be similarly entertaining. Bringing Johnny around does feel like itll become more camp though.
Karl Urban, why? Why would use such an aging actor in franchise that's suppose to last for years to come. I'm sure their are tons of other actors they could've used for the part of cage. This is Mortal Kombat 2 not mortal Kombat 10. Hollywood and their dyck sycking ways I tell ya.
