Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League feature 2

Rocksteady accidentally leaked a Denuvo-free version of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League

A couple of days ago, Rocksteady accidentally leaked a Denuvo-free executable file for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. And while the team has restored Denuvo to the Steam version, piracy groups were able to grab it and use it so they could crack the game.

This isn’t the first time we see a developer accidentally releasing executable files without Denuvo for their games on Steam. The exact same thing happened with Lies of P, Persona 5 Strikers and Conan Exiles.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is a GaaS (Games as a Service) title. It’s also a pretty average game. So, I don’t believe there is a lot of interest in it. All I’m saying is that you’re not missing much. Moreover, its ending was hilariously bad. Thus, you can skip it and never bother with it. It’s not really worth your time.

It’s a shame really to what happened to Rocksteady. In a way, both BioWare and Rocksteady are shadows of their former selves. The reason I’m mentioning BioWare is because they too tried to capitalize on the GaaS model with Anthem. And… well… we all know what happened with it. Or how about Arkane Austin?

At this point, I don’t see any reason why Warner Bros is still using Denuvo for this game on Steam. Right now, it’s only punishing its legitimate customers. But hey, it is what it is.

Now the reason a lot of publishers are still using Denuvo is because it’s still very hard to crack. Like it or not, Denuvo can protect a game for its first two to three months. Yes, it’s an anti-consumer practice. And yes, I’d love to have all PC games without it. Business-wise, though, it still makes sense to use it.

I just hope that more and more publishers will start removing it from their older titles. Square Enix, Capcom and Bandai Namco have been doing exactly that these past couple of years. So, let’s hope that more publishers will follow their example.

Stay tuned for more!

  1. They've wasted enough money with this game already, why keep paying for the Denuvo license? The game is basically dead on PC.

  2. Assassin's Creed Mirage and Dragon's Dogma 2 were also "accidentally" leaked without Denuvo.

Developers are just done with all this nonsense, and I don't mean Denuvo but work conditions in general.

    1. If I was getting less pay just for executives to shove in overly expensive bloatware that barely works by a company that pays pirates to avoid their product for PR point, then yeah I'd be pretty pissed off as well.

  3. And the one person still playing that dumpster fire saw an 5-10% uplift in performance along with less stutters that denuvo caused… Bet they are ooh so happy! Its not hard to see why mistakes like this is happening when most of the staff likely consist of hires based on external physical attributes rather than skills and/or brainz

  4. Please always add quotes to the "accidentally" in this case.

Even Rocksteady employees hate this project at this point.

  6. Yeah, I noticed this denuvoless version on a site, so I did what every good person would do…
    Donwloaded it
    Put back the denuvo
    Sent it back to Warner

    1. Benchmark it and laugh at how "invisible it is" according to the tech-illiterates who think denuvo don't cause performance degradation. That said if you have a good antivirus it will detect the game as a woke32 virus

  7. Hilarious!! Now everyone shall remember how trash this game is until the heat death of the universe, and the unbelievers will be able to continue playing and get mocked.

  8. Yep just an unofficial "release" is all this is. These digital items have no value or almost none since they are infinitely available. They knew they had a stinker and decided that releasing it so it could be easily torrented would spread it around and get interest and likely some sales from it from those who were never going to buy it anyways. These people know that sailing the seas is the perfect distro pipeline, it results in spreading it and some sales they would never have got anyways. You don't think the ptb couldn't shut down all torrenting everywhere if they wanted to? lmao.
