Assassin's Creed Shadows first screenshots-1

New Assassin’s Creed Shadows video focuses on exploration

Ubisoft has shared some new gameplay clips for Assassin’s Creed: Shadows that focus on its exploration mechanics. And, thankfully, Assassin JorRaptor has compiled them into one big video which you can find below.

In this video, we get to see the main character using boats and horses to traverse the world. The game will also have the series’ iconic synchronization mechanic. Moreover, we get to see its Target Board (which is similar to the one we saw in Mirage).

Assassin’s Creed Shadows takes place in 16th-century Japan during the Azuchi-Momoyama era. In this game, you will live the intertwined stories of Naoe and Yasuke. Against the backdrop of the turbulent late Sengoku period, this duo will discover their common destiny as they usher in a new era for Japan.

The game promises to have spectacular castle towns, bustling ports, peaceful shrines, and pastoral landscapes. Ubisoft also claims that AC: Shadows will have unpredictable weather, changing seasons, and reactive environments.

Just yesterday, Ubisoft shared some new videos that showcased the new parkour system of this new AC game. In December 2024, it also shared more details about its combat mechanics. So, I suggest reading those articles.

Finally, AC: Shadows will not require a mandatory internet connection to play. However, it will be using the Denuvo anti-tamper tech. Since this is Assassin’s Creed we’re talking about, I don’t expect Ubisoft to remove it via a post-launch update. That’s a bummer but hey, it is what it is.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be released on March 20th.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

  1. ever thought that you have played a game but you havent? Like a form of deja vu? Watching this video was me getting physically tired from playing it for 100 hours, only i havent.

Its a mystery why would anyone buy a game they have spent hundreds of hours already without actually playing it. Oversaturation, no innovation, everything becoming tiresome samey and stale. Ac fans have been screaming NO RPG since odyssey and they put more leveling crap in those games. They dont care, you will buy it anyway due to "fear of missing out", well its time to stop being this predictable, they dont care and nor should you. Stop buying ubisoft games until they show significant signs of improvement or change.

    1. I don't see the appeal either. I liken it to the millions of COD fans that buy the new game every year no matter what. That series is a gold mine. Each game easily tops a billion dollars in revenue. I have asked why they keep buying the game every year and the answer I get is that they like playing the new maps with their friends but AssCreed doesn't even have multiplayer so wtf keeps them buying these games again and again. It's beyond me.

I suppose it's gaming mainstream media hyping the games. That seems to work over and over.

      1. I'd admit that I like the campaigns in many of the COD games, but I would never pay full price for them, and normally try the campaigns years after release. I haven't played online MP since 2003 (Wolfenstein ET).

    2. Amazing how i didn't get that feeling with the Yakuza games, and those are the masters of asset reuse…ubi with all their money can't even try to do that.

    3. I think that way too, not about AC only, but gaming in general.
Besides what you said, I also think that it's partly related to graphics hitting the ceiling since almost a decade now.
Some 2014 games look like they were just released now.
Eventually, games all look the same, especially the AAA ones, of course.
Most games even look like they use 3D assets, at this point.
And the Unreal Engine being used everywhere isn't helping either.

I felt that way when I watched the first videos of Horizon : Forbidden West.
Despite the original fantasy setting, strangely, I felt like I had seen a thousand times already. I didn't even try to play it. (the woke virus also didn't help convincing me to give it a try… lol)

The whole gaming industry is going through a very severe crisis at the moment, and one of the reasons is that so many people like me feel like they've seen it all already.
Since a few months, I even went back to emulators and playing old games again. I just don't see the point in modern gaming anymore, with a few exceptions.

      1. i like said to the mastaidiot above, far cry 4 had volumetric fog to cover the fact that nothing is rendered in the distance, this effect is used in this trailer 11 year later. The effect was used to extreme effect in x360 games, the fact it was still used in 2014 was sad, the fact they still use it today is just depressing.

i dont care about open world games if they are like ubisoft, i dont care about crafting survival, vampire survivors, roguelikes, dark souls clones or stardew valley clones. If the industry cant make games like half life tomb raider, deus ex, system shock, then i am not buying. I dont care about games as as service fomo crap ether, i also play old games now.

Also horizon forbiden woke is mega woke. Its so cringe. Impressive enviroments though unlike ubi. So sad so much time and money is wasted in such crap. The games coming out have not convince me to buy hardware that can run unreal engine 5 games well. I have no interest in new games coming out, i only want the last revelation remaster.

  2. someone's watching Asmongold lol
i'm saying this cause they seem to have toned down the ADHD cuts and that's one of the first things he screamed about.

    1. how can you consistently have the worst takes?

But thank you for reminding me this, i also noticed the graphics in the trailer but i forgot to talk about them in my comment. Notice how everything in the distance is covered in fog, that effect was used in far cry 4 so you cant see that the game cant render that far, that game came out in 2014, 11 years ago, so much for "next gen".

  3. There are some horrendous stutters on some of the wide panning scenes at synchronisation locations in the present state.

  4. I hate when it's too late for a developer to cancel a game.
