Assassins Creed Origins -4

Assassin’s Creed Origins & Valhalla will now work with Windows 11 24H2

When Microsoft launched Update 24H2 for Windows 11, it broke compatibility with a number of Ubisoft games. To be more precise, Assassin’s Creed Origins and Valhalla could not run on the latest version of Win 11. Thankfully, Ubisoft has released patches that address these compatibility issues.

Steam will now download these small patches for these two titles. After installing them, you will be able to launch them on Windows 11 that have the Update 24H2.

I really don’t know how or why the Win11 Update broke compatibility with Ubisoft’s titles. We also don’t know what Ubi did to fix these issues. So, it remains a mystery what really happened with Update 24H2.

According to reports, Star Wars: Outlaws and Avatar may also suffer from stability issues on Windows 11. From what I know, Ubisoft has not released any patches for these two games yet.

Microsoft has advised PC gamers to stay away from the Update 24H2. At least for those who are currently playing Ubisoft’s titles.

Bottom line is that you are now safe to update to Version 24H2 if you play AC: Origins or Valhalla. If you’re playing Star Wars: Outlaws or Avatar, you should stick with the older version of Win11.

These compatibility issues are another reason why we haven’t upgraded the operating system for our main PC gaming system. Right now, the gaming performance on Windows 10 and Windows 11 is similar. In fact, games ran faster on Windows 10 prior to Windows 11’s Update 24H2. So, right now, Win10 is a more stable system. At least in my opinion.

Stay tuned for more!

    1. Most likely.
The Steamdb page says that the ACOrigins.exe got updated (4MB larger) and they modified the install script.

    2. One of the pirated repack guys has released a Windows 11 24h2 fix for multiple existing cracked Denuvo games, so I guess you're right.

      1. Yeah and likely before the paying customers could play their games… are they trying to promote pirace IE dont pay in order to play the games we provide!

  1. hehe i installed windows 10 LTSC version pirated which is supported till Jan 2027, this LTSC version of windows 10 is amazing, no windows store or any kind of bloat. I will stay on windows 10 for as long as possible than move to windows 11 LTSC version also when support ends for windows 10 in 2027.

    1. Still on windows 7 wih the official-unofficial updates pack, some guys make a pretty sick job. The best os ever.

      1. Even if you get it to run dx etc you will eventually have problems with security / drivers etc, try hooking up an older os than that to the internet and you will have all kinds of malware within an hr just by having it connected (even with the firewall etc running)

        1. 100% agree with all what you state above, s**t can happen if you know nothing about how computer and internet works, i'm using it only for gaming and entertainment.

          1. Windows was way better then, today MS is mostly about strong arming what they want – Users be damned…

onedrive, reinstalled all the time even when the package is uninstalled and denied
copilot/cortana… yeah good spyware that does just what the above do
revert all privacy settings on a regular basis
            remove all good UI features
super fragmented & barely functional "control panel"
default driver-updates that overwrites newer drivers way too much
            updates that bricks the computers

Linux is starting to get more and more enticing by the day

  2. this problems are present from the insider 24h2 for a year and ubisoft is perfectly aware of it since it is a problem due to the VMPROTECT drm The issue is caused by vmp.dll older than v3.9.2.2235 failing to load from within the protected executable on 24h2 and since it is packaged inside the main exe of the game it cannot be workaround except by recompiling the executable with an updated version.

    WTF? They didn't?
God, I'm so glad I stayed with Windows 10.

  4. I have yet to see a compelling reason to upgrade to Windows 11 and a whole slew of reason why not to upgrade.

As of December Windows 10 still has a 63% market share compared to Windows 11's 34% market share. No way can Microsoft EoL Windows 10 and make 63% of Windows installations a security risk because governments will step in and stop in

    1. Yeah MS have been going downhill with user friendliness, its like they dont want people to upgrade. Like you say, only a few weak pro's between all the major con's

  5. Lets see…. game… ubi drm nr 1 (denuvo)… and in typical ubi fashion drm nr2 (vmprotect)… what could be the cause of this? My bet is any of the stacked drm as they are made to allow least headroom in order to protect the games… at the expense of the paying customer!
