Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 New Screenshots-1

Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 just got an official 90GB 4K Texture Pack

Now here is a pleasant surprise. Saber Interactive has just released an official 4K Texture Pack for Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2. This pack is 90GB in size, and it is free to all owners of the base game. So, if you own it and your GPU has enough VRAM, you should definitely get it.

Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 is powered by Saber Interactive’s proprietary engine. This engine was also used in World War Z which ran extremely well on PC. And, as we’ve reported, an NVIDIA RTX 4090 can run it with 60fps at Native 4K on Ultra settings.

The game does not support NVIDIA DLSS 3 or AMD FSR 3.0 at launch. However, Saber plans to add them via a post-launch update. Sadly, there is no ETA on when this update will come out.

Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 seems pretty optimized on PC. Well, that is if you use a modern-day CPU. After all, the game pushes A LOT of enemies on screen. Regarding its GPU requirements, an NVIDIA RTX2080Ti can push 60fps at 1080p/Ultra.

Another thing to note is that Space Marine 2 does not use the Denuvo anti-tamper tech. This is great news as some may have thought that piracy would be a big issue here. The game also had a peak of 225K concurrent players on Steam, meaning that it has sold well on PC. It also has Mostly Positive reviews on Steam.

Since I’ve finished the campaign, I can say that I really enjoyed it. This is a fan third-person action game with lots of enemies on screen. And when I say lots of enemies, I mean LOTS OF ENEMIES.

It’s also worth noting that Space Marine 2 has been a commercial success for both Saber and Focus Entertainment. From what I know, the devs are already looking into developing a sequel for it.

Have fun!

  1. From reviews 16 GB VRAM isn't enough. The only way this game wasn't blurry in the first place for me was DLDSR combined with newest DLSS which bypassed the temporal AA. The in game DLAA and DLSS sucked.

That means only one GPU in the world can run this texture pack and make it worth it. The 4090. RIP DOA 5000 series 12 GB and 16 GB cards. Textures are always the biggest upgrade.

    1. The 7900 xtx vram is bandwidth matched with the 4090, at least on paper. It should work there as well.

  2. I love mods Hd texture packs pc pcsx2 dolphin reshade but you must be out of your mind to download 90 on textures.

  3. Beat this one too, long time since ive got so engaged, now waiting to be more polished, GPU usage was pretty low on my end

  4. Neat, official too. Gotta get this one. Plenty of storage space left and my 4090 needs something to chew on.

    1. Textures = VRAM. You either have enough or game starts stuttering. 16 GB of VRAM people are stuttering even at 1440p on 4080's which means it's even worse on 16 GB AMD because Nvidia has better compression and can get by with slightly less VRAM.

This reminds me of the Shadow of Mordor texture pack where only a couple of GPU's out at the time could play it without stutter. Best bet is they release an optimized pack that only covers the really low assets or if a modder does it. The rest of the game looks great once you bypass the TAA. If you want the game to look good on a 1440p screen you just DLDSR to 4k then combine it with DLSS to get a 1440p internal and adjust sharpening with smoothness in the driver. It's night and day on any TAA game and when the game doesn't have exclusive fullscreen you just switch the desktop resolution inside the Nvidia Control Panel to DLDSR 2.25/4k. Switch it back after a play session.

TAA is legit so bad in this game and the DLAA implentation so crappy that just doing the DLDSR thing will give you a better picture than the 4k textures. Different DLAA versions can always be leveraged in games too. Now days I just use the newest version from techpowerup and rename the old one backup. The newest version is almost always better than what's in a game.

      1. Thanx but when someone from the interweb asks you a specific question you either answer or choose not to.Certainly not a memory trip into aliceworld.

        Cheers

        1. I did answer the question. Steam Reviews already tell you that your 4080 is now junk because Nvidia screwed you on VRAM. I told you how to still get a good looking game since you got screwed on VRAM. This patch is for 4090's only unless you want to stutter. A future patch may release less textures or a mod.

          1. I see no VRAM-related stuttering on my RTX4080 with the 4K texture pack at native 4K TAA. I also tested performance at 6K DLSS balance and the game still run without stutters, so you are clearly exaggerating. The game does use a lot of VRAM though (16GB VRAM allocated, 14GB process), and it also require a fast NVMe and CPU (they recommend 12 cores as minimum).

Your logic is absurd. Even if this game would stutter on my PC at max texture settings, it does not mean that my PC is obsolete. It does not take much away from the experience when you lower the texture settings in modern games. I saw absolutely no noticeable difference in Space Marine 2 between ultra and high texture settings and VRAM usage was much lower (around 8-10GB).

    2. I just tested the game with the official 4K pack. VRAM usage depends on the settings. At native 4K TAA the game uses around 9-11GB when I start playing, but as I explore the map the VRAM allocation can rise up to the max 16GB, but VRAM usage is around 14GB.

I also tested the game with high texture settings. I saw no noticeable difference in texture resolution, but VRAM usage was around 9GB VRAM.

  5. Where can you download this patch for the hmmm…. Blackbearded edition? Cannot get it of course from Steam or Epic
