Bethesda and Microsoft have just announced a new DOOM game, called DOOM: The Dark Ages. DOOM: The Dark Ages will be coming to PC in 2025, will be powered by the latest version of the id Tech Engine, and you can find below its debut gameplay trailer.
DOOM: The Dark Ages will be a single-player, action FPS prequel to the critically acclaimed DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal. As always, you will assume the role of the DOOM Slayer, the legendary demon-killing warrior fighting endlessly against Hell.

For any faults Eternal had, it wasn't woke at least. The reveal gameplay even made fun of pronouns, which made it into the final release.
Maybe at some point we'll find out the lead developer is a woke freak like Indiana Jones, but there's no hint of it in the trailer at least.

It's some modern zoomer soulless ADHD pill with a Doom skin/mod on top and the IP rights for the name, but it's not Doom I-II, though who cares, right? Those were 30 years ago.

I actually liked the sci fi uac style of doom 2016, did not like the colorful heavy metal wow castles of eternal or the faux speedrunner combat, constantly switching guns. Somehow now doom is about being a medieval knight and riding dragons, wtf?
At least they went back in the realistic graphics.
I like both too, but for diferent reasons.
2016 was a great "basic shooter" and was very gritty and the overall atmosphere of the game was flawless. The way you encounter the guns on the maps as example is WAY better than the floating orbs on Eternal.
I don't mind the wierd designs on Eternal that clash with 2016 (I prefer the 2016 thou) but is too big of a jump from 2016, I also don't mind the more fast paced gameplay but at the same time they forced the constant weapon switching too much with how little ammor weapons have.
Who knows maybe they get it right this time around.
I still love DOOM 2016 and appreciate that its combat is the most faithful to the original DOOM games, but I also enjoyed Eternal quite a bit so I'm willing to give this one a chance. id hasn't let me down yet.
yep real faithful to original game with always run which wasnt option in original release of doom 1993 had to run sprint button to run. glory kills yep real faithful, alternative fire and weapon modifiers yep real faithful wave based arena shooter yep real faithful. its a crappy painkiller clone is what this is not a doom game.

This looks dumb as f*k. Sure it looks cool to play but this is not doom. You are supposed to be a Space Marine. There was never any part about gods or kings. Trying to change the backstory to suit your new story is dumb as hell. Did you really lack the creativity to come up with a new space marine story? You had to go for some medieval viking crap? That is so played out right now. Jesus. Are none of the old doom devs around to tell you the lore of the games? I will buy this game 2-3 years after release when it is $5 on Steam.

A new Doom is always better than 10 other looter shooters but the setting looked more to akin to Gothic Quake I than any Doom(s) … hope they know what they're doing … anybody prefer if they showed off Wolfenstein III instead of this? No? ok.
This was probably going to be Quake before Bethesda and Microsoft said no because Doom is the most popular brand.
Unless MachineGames have multiple teams working on separately projects, otherwise I don't think we'll get closure for BJ anytime soon. 🙁

Looks good to me. The change of scene Doom cross-over is fresh enough for me.
I still have some faith in iD, and hopefully this will be a good game!
