Remember the GTX G-Assist April’s Fools joke by NVIDIA? Well, believe it or not, the green team has actually made that joke happen. Project G-Assist is real and it will be using AI to offer players help in games.
Project G-Assist takes voice or text inputs from the player, along with contextual information from the game screen, and runs the data through AI vision models. These models enhance the contextual awareness and app-specific understanding of a large
language model (LLM) linked to a game knowledge database, and then generates a tailored response delivered as text or speech.
NVIDIA partnered with Studio Wildcard to demo the technology with ARK: Survival Ascended. Project G-Assist can help answer questions about creatures, items, lore, objectives, difficult bosses and more. Because Project G-Assist is context-aware, it personalizes its responses to the player’s game session.
In addition, Project G-Assist can configure the player’s gaming system for optimal performance and efficiency. It can provide insights into performance metrics, optimize graphics settings depending on the user’s hardware, apply a safe overclock, and even intelligently reduce power consumption while maintaining a performance target.
Basically, think of it as ChatGPT for games. You can ask for it anything about the game you’re running, and you should be getting valuable information.
It will be interesting to see whether such a tool will support online/competitive games. Will it be able to analyze your opponents’ strategy?
Stay tuned for more!

Sounds like a gimmick that everyone is going to forget about after a couple of years.
Stfu no one asked for wtf u think
Are your parents aware that their 14 years old t*rd use this kind of language on the internet?
like 3d vision and physx.
Well, for your information. 3D Vision is still used in proffesional applications, for developers and nVidia is earning money from it, they only diteched it for us, normal users because the money is not there. Also, PhysX is open sourced and AMD can benefit from it AND ON TOP OF IT, ITS STIL USED AND INTEGRATED IN NEWEST AND UPCOMMING GAMES, no one ditched it really. Same how they focus on servers and businnes when it comes to GPU, not "gamers"….. the gaming part is only about 10 -20% revenue for them (nvidia). THats a reason their stock skyrockets every couple years and would continue to do in comming months and years….. not because of "US" gamers.
latest games have physx?
If you need help with today's games which are made for retards? Well, maybe you should just give up…………………. at life.
This 👍
But damn what a cool frikking tech!
nvidia shows true superiority once again. There is Only One – nVidia all the way!!
You mean it shows how much money nvidia has to hire a ton of people to work on things like these. Imagine if jensen wasnt such a greedy m*fo high on his own farts how much nvidia could accomplish!
Or maybe you just play easymode games. Not every game is as simplistic as an FPS or soulslike.
There are plenty of recent strategy games where looking up aggregated data on the relative power of abilities is a requirement to prepare for hard mode runs. You can not gather this data on your own, there are only so many hours in a day.
BG3, Darkest Dungeon, Circus Electrique, etc. All these games require aggregated player data for optimal runs on hard modes, you're going to get your clock cleaned otherwise.
It's no different from chess. You're not going to learn how to play chess well on your own, you need to learn openings and study plays of other people.
If you never look up data on games, it means you just play easy games or don't play games on hard modes.
Or, maybe you're a moron with sh*t for brains making moronic assumptions.
It sounds like this thing is made just for people like yourself. Likely why you are so adamant to defend it.
Don't bother replying, I won't be wasting any more time on you. Have a good one.
I was LITERALLY gonna say this!
I mean remember the games from 20-25 years a go where there was no hints or not even waypoint markers, not to forget just to get the game running properly so much had to be done.
The world is getting more and more handicapped with total hand-holding in all aspects of life!
There are still games today that could use a bit of help I think. I tried to see what I played this year that would be better with this kind of feature and I fail to see one. I'd still like to imagine that there would be someone who can use it.
I always found discovery to be part of the game. Looking up answers doesn't sound like play so I'm not sure where this is going?
Man, you see how these games play themselves. Look at ghost of too much cinema. What are these developers thinking. If I wanted to watch a movie I'd have done just that.
Part of gaming exploration was found the lore from the subtle clue provided by the world built by the game devs. I remember playing Xenogears , looking at high rise building form our era drown inside the sea, it make me imagine a lot of possiibiility of the civilization of today will looks like in the far future, something that we are very used to gone and drown considered as lost civilization in xenogears lore. It didnt need to be spoonfed by AI, my mind can fill the gap just fine
dogsht!
I could see it now…,
Gamers – "If the game doesn't have G-Assist, then no buy".
DSOG – "X Game will support G-Assist at launch".
G-Assist,Making stupid people even more stupid.
Haha, I like that slogan. You can bet your don't that they won't buy a game or b*tch that it doesn't support G-Assist. They'll even go as far as, I can't buy AMD because they don't have G-Assist.
LOL..yeah wouldent suprice me one bit!
LOL..perfect slogan, for todays retarded Woke braindead kids!!
It's all so tiresome.
AI may be able to tirelessly search through data for info to answer questions but it lacks simple human common sense. A recent example is some people asked how to pass a kidney stone quickly. The AI program recommended drinking lots of urine.
I can only imagine some of the utterly useless recommendations that gamers might get from AI and end up wasting their time trying it.
Seems interesting, lets see how this works.
Alexa why does this guy sounds like an AI?
"Because he is an npc….obviously"

Let's have some real talk here instead of barking at the wrong tree.
What this is, is a way to inject an AI training mechanism within complex 3D worlds and other kinds of games, to train an AI for NVIDIA. The genius here is finding a way to make it/wrap it as a consumer product. This allows them access to training especially for AI Vision for a myriad of tasks in complex mostly 3D environments with a variety of mechanics, rules and goals that normally require human ingenuity, and even better, it is aided by a human to provide basic guidance and correction in these interactions towards an expected result. That is user aided reinforcement training, instead of just brute force, and they get it for free. Think Boston Dynamics, robotics and the evolution of AI, Tesla autopilot, selfdriving, humanoid assistants, and autonomous machinery. Now you have to make them smarter as in capable of interacting with the real world, and if already somewhat capable, do it much better and in much more complex ways. As a company, this is exactly what you would want.
So, the last thing you should look at here is wether it's unnecessary in today's dumbed down games or wether it will be helpful or not at getting unstuck in a puzzle or min/maxing some stats. It's about getting training and you getting whatever out of it, as every other thing that shows up as a dubious product for the sole reason of training with user reinforcement and data. And of course, from their part, it's a genius move and strategy and i love it for that.
Good point about training AI via virtual worlds, but note that this is already done in professional setups with far more complex environments thanks to simulation engines such as Unigine:

Feel free to look it up for yourself, it's a really fascinating engine!
Man, i get it, it's in your name, but stop being so dense shilling at every chance you get for Linux and anything open source. Unigine has nothing against where this is going to get. Sorry to say it like that but… yeah.
Honestly, I expected better from you:
1. Unigine runs on both Linux & Windows.
2. Unigine is NOT open-source.
3. Unigine is used in professional environments for things you can't even start to imagine.
Next time, try to be more intelligent, please!
I know, but still it’s the underdog amti-mainstream engine.
Ill wait until AI in games able to provide genuine conversation, able to create better enemy or other npc. Its the same with how increased computing power are not utilised to make more complex interactive gaming world that will create new opportunity of revolutionary gameplay , instead it become the chase of unnecessary graphical fidelity since Gen 8 of console with their weak jaguar CPU.
Well, half of that is the large language models that are pretty much already capable of doing their part, but the other half is gonna be aided by this too, which is a thorough understanding of the whole game's world, given its variables, states, relations, importance and such, and what a character could know of and wether it makes sense to mention something depending on context… the whole thing. You need all that to make the characters' speeches be really meaningful and make sense overall.
Moar crap I didnt ask nor need…
Useless bs feature nobody asked for, nvidia is catching at straws to find something to advertise their ai cards to gamers
yeah they milking AI like in Crypto time back then nowadays… Lets see how long it will last
I have enough overlays already… I don't need NVIDIA's AI sh*t popping up in my games to annoy me… If I get stuck in a game, there's this magical little thing called YouTube where I can actually see how someone else completed a quest, a level, or a puzzle.
It optimizes gaming performance?
No, it's collecting all of your data. Game devs should optimize their darned games, how's that for a novel idea?
Is there any change of Policy in DSO Gaming ? https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/022577cc1fad0dbaef3497bc02edbf8441808ae0e08051b5caa8ff9860285582.png

I can't wait to see this AI model learning to just troll. its the "try jumping" of soulslike, but with AI! nice.
or, better yet: "AI, how can i beat this boss? — have you tried to git gud?"
Game journalists will finally be able to finish the tutorial.
They will ruin everything, wont they?
