The RPCS3 team, the team behind the best emulator for Playstation 3, has shared a new video, showcasing a number of PS3 games with online functionalities. According to the team, GalCiv has been hard at work improving RPCN, allowing for many more PS3 games to be played online.
Now what’s cool here is that RPCS3 and RPCN also support adding friends to your RPCN account and inviting them to matches. This is similar to how it worked on PSN on a real PS3. Oh, and get this. Some games even have working leaderboards.
Do note that not all the PS3 games currently work with RPCN. You can go ahead and check out the RPCN Compatibility List here. These are all the compatible games that can be played online right now. Additionally, some games require a custom server to be created by the community (not RPCS3 Devs), in order for online play to be possible.
Still, the fact that you can play PS3 games online on the PC via this emulator is an incredible achievement. Some of the PS3 games that currently work with RPCN are SoulCalibur V, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD, Demon’s Souls, and Blur. So, here is hoping that the team will keep working on it.
Those interested can download the latest version of RPCS3 from its official website.
Enjoy the video and stay tuned for more!

Such a shame that Battlefield 1943 is still in limbo. With so many Frostbite modding tools available, one would think multiplayer would be up and running by now. Even Bad Company 1! There’s the BC2 server files from launch day, for everyone to set up a dedicated server, but not for BF1943 or BC1 😐
Do you know if people are playing bc2 to this day on custom servers?
Yea, there are soo many servers. Its very popular after EA killed the official ones. Im playing everyday, the ping is low too.
Haven’t played on my ps3 since they closed the servers.
Its great, even better on the PC cus of higher ress and fps.
Not to mention….. mouse and keyboard control. That alone is the reason why I can’t touch an fps with a controller again.

Hell yeah. I actually feel bad with a controller. It’s fine for Super Mario, side scrolling games and racing stuff, but yeah. Even then, i still prefer a keyboard lol.
Man , Rpcs developers care more and are more talented and dedicated than paid official developers .
If you want to get the best performance & most stable frametimes out of RPCS3, note that you should optimize your PC for the lowest latency possible, since there is alot of inter-core & inter-process communication happening because of the very design of the PS3 architecture which has to be emulated.
Now, I don’t know how one can do that with Windows, however Linux users had great success by either using the soft real-time capability of the mainline kernel or even patching it with the proper RT patchset (PREEMPT_RT), which can be tuned for hard real-time requirements.
In fact, someone even managed to hit “cinematic” FPS with MGS4 on RPCS3 running on the Steam Deck, which is oddly fitting for a Hideo Kojima game/movie:

steam deck?
Wonderful news. The one thing I’m waiting for now is playing last of us factions using this. Boo, Naughty Dog, for closing the ps3 servers so early.
you can also use mouse injection for better mouse aiming.

Hi, good post. Your website appears to have an issue with Internet Explorer. This problem will cause a lot of people to miss your good content because IE is still the most common browser.
Useless feature and waste of time, they need to invest in emulation quality, compatibility, adding DLSS3 + FG and FSR3 + FG, features that actually important for everybody.
Maybe add plugin system for graphics improvements like injecting ray tracing
