Marvel's Spider-Man 2 feature

Modders are working on a PC port of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

Last month, we informed you about a leaked PC dev build for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. And, from the looks of it, modders are currently trying to reverse-engineer and port the entire game to the PC.

This unofficial port aims to make the full game playable on PC. And, ironically, it may be finished before even Sony announces its plans to bring the game to our platform.

What’s also incredible here is that the game already runs at 60fps on PC. Below you can find two videos that showcase its latest WIP build. The first one shows some swinging whereas the second one shows the Sandman fight.

It’s pretty incredible what modders have already achieved. Now as you may have noticed, there are a lot of graphical glitches and bugs. For example, there are major issues with textures. And that’s the main area that the modders are currently focusing on. From what we know, they are currently trying to bring the assets from the PS5 version and make them work on PC. Once this task is complete, they’ll focus on polishing bugs.

Since this unofficial PC port will be based on the leaked PC dev build, it will be illegal. As such, we won’t allow any links to it once it’s released. Still, this is an incredible work. So, they at least deserve a big kudos for doing something like that. On the other hand, it’s an unfortunate turn of events for Insomniac Games.

My guess is that Sony will officially reveal Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 for the PC in 2024. So, we might see this game hitting the PC in 2025. As such, the modders will have at least one year to complete their project before it. And no, I don’t expect the modders to add any new features. Hell, I don’t even know whether or not this unofficial project will have any control or graphics settings.

Enjoy and stay tuned for more!

    1. Agreed, would be better to port bloodborne or other game with no hope of being ported, but since this is based on the leak and they have nothing better to do, then they might as well go ahead.

  1. looking at the perfect dark and jak and daxter pc ports you realize that the only reason we cant have great things is because these companies dont release the source code like carmack did.

  2. I’ve seen people ask why some of the flat UI elements look like Polygons in 3D space. Why isn’t it a 2D overlay.

Microsoft Learn has a whole dissertation about the performance issues of GDI+ and why people should switch to DirectX for 2D desktop applications. Using the GPU’s 3D pipeline is simply faster at rendering a flat object. In games you can just use a Z-buffer check to avoid any element appearing in front the UI.

I’m sure it’s the same for Playstation and whatever API they bolted onto their FreeBSD OS.

  3. Man, the Sony fanboys frothing at the mouth over this is hilarious.
Best thing about Sony exclusives coming to PC is seeing those monkeys dance!

    1. The meltdown and subsequent cope from the Sony Ponies is typically more entertaining than the actual game!

    2. Spoken like a true Elitist ……

The PC Elitists and the Play Station Elitists are really the same damned thing …. Opposite sides of the same bad penny

I don’t know what you eat for breakfast these days but you’re saying BS after another, reverse-engineering is something extremely difficult, it take years for amateurs to decompile a PS1 or a N64 game, a PS5 game would be next to impossible, if it was something mundane all console exclusives would’ve been ported to PC by now.
And i won’t even speak about the legal issues of something like that

    1. If those games had their developer builds leaked, then yes that would have been a possibility. Ps1 and n64 used a different architecture. Old consoles used to have completely unique hardware and processors. It wasn’t until the Xbox came out that we started seeing a transition to more standard architectures. PS5 is x86 and uses the exact same hardware as PCs.

    1. Hey FANBOY guess what, reporting after 4 months of your initial comment The game is now fully playable from start to finish. Getting 60fps at 1440p with 3070 and the Game runs like butter.
