Path of Exile 2 gets a 12-minute gameplay trailer, focusing on the Mercenary

Grinding Gear Games has released a new 12-minute gameplay trailer for Path of Exile 2 that focuses on the Mercenary class. This is a must-watch as it can give you a pretty good idea of this new hack ‘n slash title. So, be sure to watch it.

The Mercenary is a crossbow-wielding character class in Path of Exile 2. This class has shooter-like gameplay, swapping crossbows and ammo types on the fly to inflict deadly combo attacks on his enemies. To be honest, it kind of reminded me of Darksiders Genesis.

Now what’s really great here is that Path of Exile 2 will offer two control methods on PC. Players can use a traditional point n click system, or WADS controls. This is something I’d also love to see in Diablo 4. So, kudos to Grinding Gear for implementing it in its title.

Path of Exile 2 will feature a massively improved engine for graphics and physics. And, as I’ve already said, it looks better than Diablo 4. Furthermore, the game will have 19 new ascendancy classes. These characters are a new set of Exiles who fall into the same class archetypes as those in the original game.

It’s also worth noting that Path of Exile 2 will no longer be an expansion of Path of Exile 1. Instead, Path of Exile 2 will be a new standalone game, with separate game balance, systems and future expansions. At least, though, your purchases will still be shared between both games.

Lastly, there is still no ETA on when the game will come out. Naturally, though, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.

Enjoy!

  1. Looks f###ing great.
    Embracing keyboard moving, very good.
Level art is great. Weapons effects are great.
RIP Diablo 4. POE2 is better at every single aspect.

  2. Amazing to see what a rather small company can do, one that cares about what their customers get vs a huge company that only cares about profit.

I mean… look at diablo IV that’s basically a launcher for all the upcoming season passes, microtransactions and all other sleezy money schemes there are… vs PoE that designed to be a complete package of fun.. you know what used to be entertainment – before the greedy suits ruined it.
