RoboCop Rogue City feature

RoboCop: Rogue City Benchmarks & PC Performance Analysis

NACON has released the new Robocop game from Teyon, the creators of Terminator: Resistance, called RoboCop: Rogue City. Powered by Unreal Engine 5, it’s time now to benchmark it and examine its performance on PC.

For our RoboCop: Rogue City benchmarks and PC Performance Analysis, we used an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D, 32GB of DDR5 at 6000Mhz, AMD’s Radeon RX580, RX Vega 64,  RX 6900XT, RX 7900XTX, NVIDIA’s GTX980Ti, RTX 2080Ti, RTX 3080 and RTX 4090. We also used Windows 10 64-bit, the GeForce 546.08, and the Radeon Adrenalin Edition 23.20.17.05 drivers. Moreover, we’ve disabled the second CCD on our 7950X3D.

RoboCop Rogue City CPU scaling

Teyon has added a few graphics settings to tweak. PC gamers can adjust of View Distance, Shadows, Textures, Effects, and more. There is also support for all major PC upscaling techniques. As such, you can use NVIDIA DLSS 3, AMD FSR 2.2, Intel XeSS, and UE5’s TSR.

RoboCop: Rogue City does not feature any built-in benchmark tool. So, for our benchmarks, we used the following scene. Since this area features a lot of destructible objects, it should give us a pretty good idea of how the rest of the game performs. For our CPU benchmarks, we also dropped our resolution to 720p (and used DLSS Performance Mode).

To see how the game runs with different types of CPUs, we simulated dual-core, quad-core, and hexa-core CPUs. And the great thing is that you don’t need a super powerful CPU to get good frame rates in it. Even on our dual-core system, we were able to get a smooth gameplay experience at 720p/Epic Settings. However, we did have some hiccups when we didn’t have SMT (Simultaneous Multi-Threading) enabled. Luckily, these hiccups disappeared when we turned on SMT.

At 1080p/Epic Settings, you’ll need GPUs equivalent to the NVIDIA RTX3080 in order to maintain framerates higher than 70fps. Our NVIDIA RTX2080Ti was also able to provide a smooth experience. That is if you use a G-Sync monitor.

At 1440p/Epic Settings, the only GPUs that were able to offer constant 60fps were the AMD Radeon RX7900XTX and the NVIDIA RTX4090. As for Native 4K/Epic Settings, the only GPU that was able to come close to 60fps was the NVIDIA RTX4090.

As with pretty much all recent Unreal Engine 5 games, RoboCop: Rogue City uses both Nanite and Lumen. And while Nanite does not appear to be a resource hog, Lumen certainly is. By dropping our settings to High, we were able to get 90fps at Native 4K on NVIDIA’s most powerful GPU. Again, the Epic Setting for Lumen is very demanding. After all, it’s a form of ray tracing. So, don’t go around complaining about it when you can simply drop the setting to High and get a major performance boost.

RoboCop Rogue City PC performance benchmarks-1

In terms of graphics, RoboCop: Rogue City is a really good-looking game. Most of the human characters are highly detailed, and RoboCop looks just like you remember him. It’s amazing to see how Teyon has evolved. The difference between the 3D model of RoboCop and the one of Sylvester Stallone in Teyon’s Rambo game is astronomical. Plus, the game has lots of objects you can destroy. Finally, we have a game where you can wreck almost everything. This obviously does not mean that this game is perfect. For instance, I did notice a few issues with lighting and effects popping in now and then. So even on the best Epic settings, the View Distance isn’t really… epic. Still, I don’t really have any big complaints about this game. Compared to Teyon’s previous title, Terminator: Resistance, RoboCop: Rogue City looks way better. And that’s the main thing to take away here.

All in all, RoboCop: Rogue City looks and runs well on PC, provided you avoid its Epic Settings. The game will compile its shaders the first time you launch it. We also did not experience any major traversal stutters. Like most UE5 games, it also relies more on the GPU than on the CPU. It’s a well-polished PC game. And, thankfully, it supports most PC upscaling techniques. Unfortunately, though, NACON has removed the game’s PC demo from Steam. As such, you cannot download it in order to measure your PC performance. That’s a bummer. So, I really hope NACON and Teyon will make that demo available again in the future.

  1. Nice Fun Game i’d recommand it ! No stutterings runs very well on my Ryzen 5700X+RX 6700XT with FSR 2.2 +100 fps, aruond 60-65 witout FSR ( sometimes strangely Frames dips to 42 !!) , but ( like Remnant 2 ) i don’t think the level of graphics justify the GPU Cost . For me Metro Exodus is the most beautiful game till now .

    1. What playform did you play this on? and did it come with EpicOnlineServices or require an always online connection to launch..?

I played the demo and it didnt have either of thoose things.

  2. This game is an absolute joy to play. Just turn off all ray…(you know what I mean) and it runs beautiful even on old systems as well. Now, I’m gonna hop….into RoboCop 😉

  3. Lumen is a sh!t!est form of ray tracing if it just calculates gi and reflections, while being optimized for consoles out of the box. Metro exodus enhanced edition sh!ts on all over lumen.

    1. Cus it’s not using HW lumen and then there is the path tracing plugin.

They don’t want the consoles blown out of the water.

Look at Alan wake where they gimped the lighting where cyberpunk went all out.

      Embarrassing.

      1. Yeah even more considering path tracing in Cyberpunk is experimental feature and it’s GI doesn’t have the anomalies of Alan Wake 2’s GI where it’s considered as final.

        1. Alan Wake 2 is a weird one.

For some reason they are using SW global illumination.

Again its so it doesnt look vastly different it makes no sense not to have it path traced.

          1. Sorry forgot to add thats why the anomolies cus for the reason above.

Dissapointing from a company like remedy whove always been so PC centric.

          2. I cant believe no ones calling this out you could litterally have a 4090 and none of its RTX capabilities is even being used.

            UE5 is abysmal.

    1. That one was 10 lbs of steaming hot turd stuffed in a 5 lb bag..

First impressions, Robocop is a tremendous improvement over the Rambo game mess. Probably not even the same employees in Teyon for Robocop.

      1. Did you play Terminator: Resistance? Great game, it’s the same guys, you can see the same kind of game pacing, and design choices in Robocop.
From Rambo -> Terminator / Robocop is just a MASSIVE step up, and arguably the best modern move-based games made!

        1. No, I passed over Terminator: Resistance. It seemed really mediocre at the time. I just checked and it’s $40 on Steam right now. Maybe if I can pick it up later on a sale for $10 I will.

          1. Try it again, the beginning has really bad weapons, but after the 3rd mission on the Hospital everything ramps up and it’s great.

          2. It’s Metro but not linear and with more content.
Easy recommend despite some janky animations.

          3. If you’re a fan of the first 2 films than I guarantee you’ll love that game! The atmosphere, music, sound design, etc. in it is honestly something that most of us thought we’ll never experience but there we were fighting in James Cameron’s future war of T1 & T2. The DLC is great as well.

        2. For me, Terminator Resistance was a real sequel to the Terminator 1-2 movies, I was just blown away by how good the game was.

+Amazing atmosphere that makes you feel like you are playing your part in the Terminator films. The last battle was epic.
+Rewarding exploration and fun combat. It takes time to upgrade your character and laser weapons to the point where you can take out T-800s with ease, but it’s worth it.
+The T-800s in this game are very tough and can be scary exactly like the first terminator film.

-Graphics isnt the worst because it’s UE4 after all, but there are imperfections like blury textures and poor facial animation.

Overall it was easily 9/10 from me. If Robocop is as good, I know I will like the game too.

      1. That’s the best you can come up with? Those games are extremely overrated, try again man.. You can do better. There are a lot of licensed games that will blow Batman games out of the water.

        1. I don’t want to discredit Rocksteady because they did well with Arkham games but let’s be honest Batman is a solid material to adapt (surely that doesn’t mean you can’t make a total trash out of it but there are far more difficult franchises to adapt esp. for the game.
Teyon threw themselves onto The Terminator – a franchise everyone kept screwing up but they did a solid job with it. Now it’s Robocop, not an easy task as well. And we can tell they did the best they could’ve considering their resources.

  4. I played the terminator game and it was pretty good if fairly short, if you like the first couple of movies it’s a good tie in as well. It’s not super memorable for me though. I’m just wondering about the game length here, I’ve read it’s pretty short. The steam band wagon is just not that trusty anymore. And from the handful of negative revs there it seems to push the over the top arch-criminal “capitalism” aspect to then push the marxist “good guy” aspects, so cringe but so typical. 77 was mostly all about that, subterfuge by the masters no doubt.

    1. I’ve been using a site for years called howlongtobeat

Links go to moderator approval but copy/paste into google.

The site provides some useful data to give an idea how much play time there is. I usually end up playing longer than the average but it’s still useful.

Right now there aren’t many results reported but so far around 20 hours average for RoboCop and Terminator had around 13 hours average for main story and side quests.

  5. I haven’t played this but his is game like RoboCop not on rails because the MF move so slow. RoboCop doesn’t run or take cover he’s just out in the open pew peeing. Don’t eat me alive here, just curious. RoboCop seems like a great concept for a movie but not so much for a video game. This dude moves like molasses. Besides all that, it looks like a graphical monster.

    1. he can actually jog a little which I constantly turn on, makes it a little better traversal wise but yeah, it looks beautiful imo 😉

  6. Performance on this is all over the place on higher settings. You can have a rock solid 90fps (what I usually shoot for) for most of a level but then turn the wrong way and plummet to 60-70 because of some random lighting effect. Frustrating.

  7. Odd how no one seems to notice how bad the facial expressions are and even worse is most of the voice acting. (The exception is Peter Weller but he just makes it even more obvious how bad the rest is) Granted it’s only 50 bucks but still I’ve heard much better voice acting from Skyrim mods. This is almost embarrassing in terms of voice acting it’s like they just pulled a random dev’s name from a hat and said go for it

  8. I got to this after deleting Alan Wake 2 it was so cringe, I made it to the final sequence and a fair bit there but it just became a stutter fest and I knew there wasn’t much more left of it. Watched the ending, smh.

I have to say I don’t know what people are smoking including jonnyboy. Outside of robocop himself and a couple of the major npcs this looks nothing special graphically and the reqs and jet fan noise for it at high/60 locked smooth are laughable. UE5 looks to be a disaster in this case, not good for the future. I get no stutters at all so far, smooth as butter. Testing at ultimate levels like here is a fools game or car salesman tactics nothing more. Turn it down to high, fancy stuff off and any of those older graphics cards would easily do 60, and you have fsr support too. This game seems to use a lot of power, for what? These companies talk about efficiency and eco stuff but then put out hundreds of watts per hour cards and terribly unoptimized games using UE5 etc smh

I thought this was a corridor shooter but that was just the tutorial level, it’s more beat cop lite rpg with likely arcade shooter here and there and major missions. I like it, it’s fun but it’s not the be all it’s presented as. 50$? base game? pass the blunk scrow lol 40-50gb size? I doubt there’s any replay value though, maybe reinstall terminator game as it feels like an updated reskin here just different source ip. There’s always coj gunslinger from 2013..

Edit: also use a trainer hack to speed this tank the he# up, oof.
