Two hours of leaked gameplay from METAL GEAR SOLID Master Collection Vol.1

“Irriducibile 86ss” has shared two videos on YouTube. These leaked videos show two hours of gameplay from METAL GEAR SOLID Master Collection Vol.1.

The leaked videos are from the first Metal Gear Solid game, from the European/Italian PS5 version. The downside is they have Italian voices, which some might not like. But, considering this collection isn’t packed with lots of extras, they can give you an idea of what you can expect from it. Spoiler alert, it looks exactly the same as the original PlayStation version. So no, I wouldn’t really call this a “remaster“. This is more like a mere re-release of MGS and nothing more. But hey, at least you can now pause the cut-scenes. Oh, what a glorious QoL improvement. This definitely justifies spending 59,99€ for it, no? Okay okay, at least we’ll get an official PC port of Metal Gear Solid 3.

Metal Gear Solid was the first 3D game in the METAL GEAR series. It introduced a new kind of sneaky action with cool movie-like scenes, and creative gameplay. Well, that’s what its description says, at least.

Konami plans to launch METAL GEAR SOLID Master Collection Vol.1 on October 24th. Just so you know, this collection will be locked at 1080p, even on PC. And here’s the bummer: the first Metal Gear Solid game won’t go above 30fps.

After the PC outrage over the lack of K&M controls, Konami has clarified that Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater will get proper K&M support. The second MGS game will also get some mouse support. And as for the the first Metal Gear Solid game, it will only support keyboard.

Enjoy!

  1. Duckstation’s PGXP handles the wobbly textures and models like a champ, for the money they are asking at least they should deliver basic PS1 emulation features. Not even the 40$ Instant Gaming charges for it.

  2. Inferior visuals comapred to any emulator out there, and no keyboard and mouse support. As if anyone with two braincells was excited for this trash.

  3. Well, I played the original PC gog release with mods and its way better looking already. Just waiting for MGS3 & 4 from this release.

    1. I really doubt they’ll touch mgs4, that would require an extra effort to port it, and as you can see, they are already making half-assed port with vol 1 collection

    2. I tried looking up the mods for this game but I wasn’t able to find anything beyond enabling widescreen. The PC version I hear is inferior since certain elements were removed in it. I even compared the vanilla versions of both and there’s not much which differentiates them on a visual standpoint beyond slightly sharper textures on PC. Obviously you get those strange warping/wobbling environmental effects which can be seen in basically every 3D PSX game but with an emulator you can easily turn that off.

Plus, you get the benefit of having achievements via RetroAchievements when you play it on an emulator, if you care about that kind of thing.

    1. the original windows release seems to be far superior, which had no jitter and cleaner textures. very odd this seems.

  4. Metal Gear Solid on PC is irrelevant.
We always had much better stealth games, like Splinter Cell and Thief.

This is for console gamers who don’t know better.
The same kind of folks who think that Golden Eye is a great FPS.🤣

  5. Depends on how this turns out, the only worthwhile entry is Snake Eater, without the pressure sensitive nonsense for CQC from PS2. You could avoid that using Xenia, but I never tested.

For the first 2 games, Twin Snakes emulated from GameCube and MGS2 from PS2 were already perfectly emulated years ago.

The original MGS2 on PC was missing some shadows and reflections on PC.

    1. You can’t compare Twin Snakes with MGS1 on PS1, because the cutscenes of Twin Snakes were directed not by Hideo Kojima but rather another Japanese director who is known for ridiculously over-the-top action scenes, and as a result the cutscenes in Twin Snakes are a joke, literally…

      1. silicon knights made twins snakes while some cutscenes were over the top overall it’s the best version of metal gear solid 1 you could play.

  6. lmao, $60

    maybe try $6

who does Konami think they are, go make some more pachinko machines, and get out of gaming already
