Witchfire gets an official gameplay overview trailer

The Astronauts has released the official gameplay overview trailer for Witchfire. This trailer dives deep into the gameplay systems of this new first-person shooter.

Witchfire is a dark fantasy roguelite shooter that is powered by Unreal Engine 4. The game also takes advantage of photogrammetry, and it supports NVIDIA DLSS 3 at its Early Access launch.

The Astronauts claims that Witchfire is a roguelite for people who hate roguelites. Since I’m one of them, I’m curious to see whether this new shooter will spark my interest. According to the developers, the game offers a challenging but satisfying gameplay experience, and with multiple roads to victory.

Armed with powerful spells and fearsome firearms conjured by the best Vatican sorcerers, your mission is to find the infamous witch of the Black Sea, destroy the phantom army that protects her, and retrieve a mysterious artifact that can finally turn the tide of war.

Since The Astronauts has provided us with a review code, we’ll be sharing our initial 4K and 8K performance impressions. We’ll be only focusing on these resolutions and on DLSS 3 (as the game is in Early Access). When Witchfire fully releases, we’ll publish a more “traditional” PC Performance Analysis.

Enjoy!

    1. funny because the dev wasted years of his life playing destiny and this is why he copied those ideas into this game but made it worse by making it roguelike.

  1. Looked good until the point it says “if you get killed you lose all your loot and the monsters you have eliminated come back from the dead”. No thanks to Souls or Rogue-like gameplay. That’s just a way of stretching out content and adding artificial difficulty. ‘Aint got the time or patience for that, sorry.

    1. exactly its a repetitive rogue like indie game that you fight hordes of enemies and have to run back at a teleporter to save your souls and upgrade because the game itself is too hard without updating and the gameplay consists of respawning arena enemies. Trash.

      1. Same here, I’m disappointed they’ve gone down this path. I remember watching the announcement trailer back in 2017 and it mentioned the devs from Painkiller and Bulletstorm were working on it. My guess is there was a story, but it was removed between now and then due to the success of rouge games (of which I detest).

  2. worse, its roguelike so no actual main missions or much of a campaign, just repetitive randomized arena combat sections until you run out of ammo and health, in which case if you diel you lose your souls which are used for upgrading which is the only way you can finish the game.

Bold statement and I wanna see if it will live to it.
Some very nice gameplay mechanics, but rogue is really quite boring. Let’s play the waiting game, which has been the only game worth playing these days.

  4. Ah, the DSOG comments section. Whenever someone needs a dose of negativity in their lives, this is THE place to go to, so they could listen to jobless kids who actually think they are cool!
