It appears that Baldur’s Gate 3 is selling like hotcakes. According to the Belgian Embassy in China, the PC sales of Baldur’s Gate 3 are currently over 5.2 million.
According to this translated report:
“So, can we say that Baldur’s Gate 3 rolled a “natural 20”? Let’s take a look at the numbers as of August 16th when this article was written:
– The game has sold 5.2 million copies on the PC gaming platform Steam, with more than 870,000 concurrent online users and a 94.3% positive rating.
– On Metacritic, a site that collects reviews, Baldur’s Gate 3 is already the eighth highest-rated game of all time, with an average rating of 97%, and the highest-rated game since 2010.”
Do note that this number also includes the game’s Early Access PC sales. From what we know, the game sold around 2.5 million copies in Early Access, meaning that Larian may have doubled the total PC sales of Baldur’s Gate 3.
A couple of days ago, Larian released the fourth Hotfix for its RPG. Furthermore, the team is working on a massive Patch that will resolve around 1000 bugs and issues. Larian will then follow this update with another that will incorporate some of the biggest requests it has received from the community since launch.

I believe early access sales were around 2.5-3 mil already.Then they didn’t sell well at all. People who are jumping in fresh are around 2-2.2 millions. Hmm… PS5 will definitely help but the honeymoon time is about to end, and Starfield is around the corner.
I am really wondering the settled down numbers when the all hype process ends. Time will show how useful those “all time best rpg, pc orianted game” labels were. Even going by very conservative european salaries, thats 40 to 50 million dollars per YEAR in just wages. For a game that was in development for 6 years. As i said, they took the numbers from vg insights, they dont actually have sale numbers from Larian. They looked at a website that makes estimations then for some reason posted them. They’re not true because it is not possible to have almost 1 million concurent players with only 2.5 additional million buyers over the early access ones.

The game had a potential cost of 200 to 300 million dollars. It’s one of the most expensively produced games on the market. It’s more AAA than 99% of the games that exist. There are asterics regarding this game. Its an extremely expensive game.

If it doesn’t have DRM, then it is even more easy for these games to end up on piracy sites. Anti-drm should admit that you can’t do much about it and argue that the damage is minimal if they are to be taken seriously.
Yeah. Afaik, on GoG you can just download the offline .exe installer. All you have to do is to share it and the game is pirated.
I love GoG. I love being able to actually own the game without DRM.

It’s been lowered for decades really, back in the days they couldn’t patch games like they can nowadays when everybody and their cats have internet – It wasn’t easy to patch games _at all_ so they had to do proper q&a prior to release.
Easiness of patching is both a blessing and a curse at the same time – Lazier dev’s / non existent q&a but also often better end result when the dev’s care about what they do rather than just bare minimum to screw you of all your hard-earned green.
Considering its complexity BG3 was in a pretty ok state at launch, if you ever coded you would know what I mean.
Larian has yet to surpass devs and publishers that treat their customers like garbage in terms of sales(microsoft, activision, blizzard… oh wait those are the same entity now). Also ubisoft.

All characters are there to please the player regardless of the gender. Low effort romantic fantasy. Cyberpunk 2077 did it better.
There should be a mod to customize the sexual preferences of NPC’s so you could end up with a less f@ggy experience.

I’m sure this game deserves it. Playing remnant 2 ATM and trying to finish it before Starfield drops. I don’t think I have the time to plunge into a 200+ hour RPG even though I am sure the game is amazing I will probably snag it on a steam sale.
