The Last of Us Part I – PC vs PS5 vs PS3 Comparison Videos

While we wait for the next major PC update for The Last of Us Part I, we’ve decided to share two interesting comparison videos. The first video compares the PS5 version with the PC version. As for the second video, we get to see how the PS3 version, running on the RPCS3 emulator, stacks up against the PC version.

From what we can see, the PC version features better shadows and LOD settings than the PS5 version. Additionally, some textures appear to be sharper. However, the water effects are not as advanced as the ones found in the PS5 version. I don’t know if this is a bug, however, Naughty Dog should definitely look into this.

As for the second video, it’s really cool witnessing the PS3 version running at 4K. This video shows off the major lighting changes that the remake has. It also shows off the improved character models.

A couple of days ago, Naughty Dog released a hotfix for the PC version. However, that hotfix lacked the promised mouse camera fixes. So, it remains to be seen whether the Friday Update will include them.

Lastly, you can check out our PC Performance Analysis for this game. You can also find another article in which we ran the game on an Intel Core i9 9900K CPU.

  1. The game recommends an i7 9700K to play with 1440/60 at high settings; yet the frametime is so bad that there is no way in hell to even play this turd of a port. The screenshots by John even prove what an utter failure the port is.

      1. 3080ti, just look at John’s article on the 9900K. As soon as he enables more threads the frametimes are fine. 9700k meanwhile is SOL.

  2. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me! Only a madman will keep on grabbing games early and expect different results 🙂

  3. Amazing how well the PS3 version holds up. Obviously it’s running at 4K via an emulator but even at 720p the game still looks great. Same goes for GTA V running on the 360. IT boggles the mind that they can have a game that looks and performs like that running on 18 year old hardware and yet this game (tLoU 1) on PC looks like sh*t running on hardware literally 31 times more powerful (TFLOPS wise) (360 Xenos vs. RTX 2070) and with 16 times less VRAM).
