Halo Reborn is a custom Halo campaign that will cover the entire trilogy with re-imagined missions and better graphics

A team of modders is working on an ambitious project that aims to cover the entire trilogy of the Halo games, called Halo Reborn. Halo Reborn will be using the Halo: The Master Chief Collection Engine, will take advantage of photogrammetry, and here are its first screenshots.

Halo Reborn will be using photogrammetry, 1k-4k textures, new foliage, skyboxes, and more to create beautiful vistas and environments. Furthermore, the team plans to revamp/improve all characters, vehicles, and weapons.

The modding team will be creating completely new levels and level layouts. As such, some things will appear in different places. The team also claims that it may cut some things (like for instance the large amount of backtracking in the first Halo game).

The team also plans to revamp the sandbox of the series. While the Halo gameplay loop will remain, it will still make additions and tweaks to open up for new possibilities.

Again, this sounds really ambitious and you should not expect this mod to come out anytime soon. Realistically, we are looking at a 2024 release (and I’m being optimistic here).

  1. Definitely excited for this. 343 is an incompetent company that has no idea what Halo is and why people love it.

    Hope these modders can show them how it’s done.

  2. This is a double edge sword. On one hand, the fans of a franchise get to relive and experience three best version of a game. But on the other hand, the fans crave this because the franchise has become Dog Sh*t, which they STILL BUY & SUPPORT everytime a new game in the franchise has released. Because of some sense of nostalgia/hope. I’ve never been a halo fan, never saw the appeal. But I know it was quite the following, almost unmatched. They’ll say, “I’m glad this is happening because 343 is the worse”. But, if 343 announces a new game, they’ll all be there to gobble it up. So are we glutton for punishment or just hopeful fools?..

      No, they really didn’t. Halo has been on the way down since Reach. Especially in terms of the multiplayer playerbase. Halo 3 was more popular than any Halo after it. Halo Infinite has settled for a 5k playerbase on PC – roughly the same amount as the Master Chief Collection! Considering how old MCC is this probably means Halo Infinite will drop below MCC at some point. So much for the long-running “live service” plans they had. “Last Halo game” they said. Well, maybe it will be. But not for the reason they had in mind.

    2. I’m glad it’s happening because these same people ruined FPS Games and popularized a ton of garbage like paid map packs and paid online.
      They will suffer and the smarter ones will just move on.

    3. Halo is pretty dead, dude. Infinite’s launching in a glorified early access state + shxtty live service roll out + the awful TV show have been nails in the coffin. I don’t think many people are going to come back for future games unless there’s a huge amount of good word of mouth.

      I paid $2 NZD for a Game Pass sub and played the Halo Infinite campaign
      through that. Got my money’s worth, IMO. The gameplay was solid, but it
      definitely felt incomplete and/or had a lot of content cut. Definitely
      not worth $100 NZD ($60 USD) it would’ve been brand new, but was good
      for $2, IMO.

      1. This dude is really weird, trying to connect modders improving a game to the usual consumer sheep behaviour. I’m quite sure even the best mod doesn’t get the same number of downloads as game sales.

  3. Impressive that they are able to build and script levels in this engine. But the person in charge of the art direction needs to dial his monitor brightness down a peg because this sht is DARK AS F. Also the elites talk too much. Don’t turn them into comic relief, they’re supposed to be the serious enemies, just like brutes. Grunts and (non sniper) jackals are for comic relief.

  4. The last time someone wanted to “remaster and re-imagine” Halo CE the guy ended up bringing in every weapon and gimmick from the later games and shoved his furry fetish into the lore.

        1. I played it, didn’t notice any furries. And Halo trilogy timeline is just 3 year apart, so it would make sense to have the entire trilogy arsenal and enemies included in the mod, purists be damned.

    1. SPV3 has more issues than that, what they did at a technical level is impressive, but it’s a complete slog to play.
