The RPCS3 team has released a new version of its amazing Playstation 3 emulator. According to the team, this latest version brings graphical fixes for Uncharted 2-3, The Last of Us, and the Ratchet & Clank games.
Going into more details, kd-11 improved RPCS3’s immediate mode rendering and linear cubemap decoding which fixed broken lighting in many Insomniac games. This also fixed the dynamic shadows in Naughty Dog games and a handful of other titles.
Additionally, patch guru @illusion has been busy creating patches to uncap the framerates in Tools of Destruction, Quest for Booty, and A Crack in Time. For the rest of the Ratchet and Clank games, players can simply increase VBlank. By increasing VBlank, you can uncap the frame limit on its own, so you can enjoy the whole series with no in-game frame limit.
You can download the latest version of RPCS 3 from here.
Have fun!

Like always, awesome work on this emu.
Hopefully they fix the horrible trans-phobic dead naming of Elliot Page. How can the world sleep at night with transgressions like this going on all around us.
What ?
The character is not even based on Elliot Page. GTFO with your bs.
I wonder how much will it take for these guys to realize that they’ve been trolled.
There’s insane people everywhere…to the point that i would take that comment seriously.
They make fixes for all sorts of games except MGS4, which only works well on some old Alpha built and even that a custom built by ZeroX.
So how come? Do they hate MGS games or what?
They don’t work on a specific game.
And actually, working on issues on multiplatform games help the most. Troubleshooting an issue in a multiplatform title usually results in improvements across the board.
Stay salty Nintendo switch fanboy lmaoooooooooo

This might worth and article
I still cannot believe how the PS3 of all consoles, have a better emulator than PS2.
Not sure how RPCS3 will evolve in the future, in the current state it is far from being better than PCSX2 which has a way bigger catalogue of playable games
RPC3 did major improvements in a shorter spam of life than PCSX2..which barely did any progress since. PS2 also has a bigger catalogue than PS3…so that comparison is quite dumb, i personally care about the quality of the emulation and since PS3 has less exclusives hostages there, i get exactly that.
Thing is, most ports of PS2 games run way better than their native versions on the PS3 emulator, a console that by design was way harder to develop than the predecesor…unless you play on a phone.
Can people play PS2 games on the RPCS3?
No
What he meant is the PS2 game remastered for ps3 ( like God Of War 1 and 2 remastered, Metal Gear Solid 3 HD collection , ICO and shadow of colossus) played on RPCS3 run better than the original version on played on PcSx2. And I can confirm that, but probably, in my opinion thats due to that game already push the PS2 tech limit so on PCSX2 it wont automatically get better. Im also confused at first. but still CMIIW
RPCS3 have patreon page so the dev can fully committed to the project. While PCSX2 isnt. Maybe thats one of the factor
I get you but nothing is sure when it comes to how it will progress in the future, also harder to develop doesn’t necessarily mean harder to emulate, development and emulation are 2 separate things as you can see the original Xbox which is very similar to a PC when it comes to architecture it still doing it baby steps on the emulation scene, same can be said for the Xbox 360 which is way simpler than the PS3.
Don’t forget that low-level APIs that didn’t exist back then helped a lot for these new emulators and whatever you can say about the PS3, it’s much closer to a PC than the PS2
It’s because PS3 has no games. Ok but seriously my attempts at emulating PS3 was not very fruitfrul, and the emulator demands a beefier PC settings.
I can only speak from my experience, but most games in the RPCS3 run better than the hacky PCSX2 ones.
Did they fixed Condemned: Bloodshot already?
Hmm, thats weird, the one only game from many that I tried on PCSX2, only one that have major problem, which is Stuntman. All major Sony 1st party game works well as intended, while on RPCS3 a lot of games still have problem, especially 1st party one. I tried last of us with latest update of RPCS3 but still have glitch where the background are not rendered, only the character.
Tried last of us with latest updates but after initial cutscenes (or movie) the onyl one rendered is the character while the background in black void
it’s just a metaphor for you in the modern gaming world
Is the rain in Last of Us fixed too at this point?
Actually,i still waiting for proper xbox360 emulator that can play DOAX2 without issue…
