Grand Theft Auto The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition new screenshots-4

GTA The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition has major performance issues on all next-gen platforms

Take-Two and Rockstar have released the remastered versions of GTA 3, GTA Vice City and GTA San Andreas. However, it appears that these remasters have major performance issues on all next-gen platforms, including the PC.

Numerous PC users have reported performance issues in these remasters. Grand Theft Auto 3 Definitive Edition, particularly, appears to be running awful on high-end PC hardware.

Below you can find some videos showcasing all three games running on high-end GPUs. As you will immediately see, GTA 3 Remaster drops at mid-40s on high-end Intel CPUs and high-end NVIDIA’s GPUs.

It’s also worth noting that GTA The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition also has performance issues on both PS5 and Xbox Series X. This basically means that all next-gen versions underperform. I mean, seriously now… Xbox Series X can run Forza Horizon 5 with constant 60fps but cannot handle a remaster of a really old game? Rockstar, what have you been thinking?

Things got even worse earlier today as Rockstar has disabled the PC sales of GTA The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition. Apparently, there were major issues with its launcher and PC gamers could not download their copies. Ironically, the game has already been cracked, meaning that pirates can already play it.

In short, this is a clusterf*ck and we suggest staying  away from it. While we still believe that most of its graphical improvements are great (with the exception of the new 3D character models), its performance is all over the place.

  1. Huh. I installed GTA III yesterday at lunch (before Rockstar went offline) and it ran well on a 1080ti last night.

    1. They probably have lost their source code and too shame (did they have one … ?) to use the reverse engineered code to create the remaster so they decided to slap the android version on unreal Engine and this crap created

        1. Too lazy then to commit on fully build a new version from the ground up and rather choose a cheaper way by placing a wrapper (UE4 in this case )on an existing android version. And they even leaks their own source in Switch version, probably a desperate attempt to plea to already dissapointed modder that promise not to touch the definitive edition

  2. Anyone with 2 brain cells intact had to see this coming when you take into account the last 2 years at least of “AAA” and “Remasters/Reboots” release disasters…big studios trying to dIvErSiFy and cut on production/testing/and of course least we forget to Not Offend the lunatic 1% mob….here is the result a insult to paying customers,a insult to the older generation who enjoyed these games….sad is the state of gaming industry these days…long time ago i was hyped for a game to be released, these days i am hyped not having to install trash

  3. Rockstar… gonna rockstar.

When GTA V came out, they had a copy protection system so nasty that it decoded the game’s assets on the fly, causing major slowdowns on PCs.

      1. The f*ckers are so full of themselves, they only have like 10 relevant games tops and they think that’s enough to justify their own launcher.

  4. “In short, this is a clusterf*ck and we suggest staying away from it”
We knew this since the first screens John, but thanks anyway

  5. this demaster is so incredible sh!t, that even the Leftoids NPC SJWs hate it lol. What a clusterfvck of ReMAsTerED.

PD: If any of you doesn’t have physical copies, you can download the isos from myabandonware, that’s where I got them. OG 1.0 Modded is THE DEFINITIVE EDITION PERIOD

  6. i’m guessing most new Rstar games these days always need updates.
the character models though, sad that they didn’t put enough effort into them.
at the very least the game engine supports mods. yet again mods are what’s saving the GTA games.

  7. Imagine being so incompetent that you can’t properly recreate games made 20 years ago.
Friendly reminder that a lot of people here found these remasters aceptable or even good before the release to the point of defending them.

  8. Meanwhile the devs of Mafia 1 took the time and built a proper great game from the ground up, and the Rockstar clowns can’t even make a retextured version of 20 years old games run smoothly on new hardware. I mean, wtf??? I don’t like to hate talk but come on. No one tested it before they released it?

  9. Gee-whiz, it looks even worse than previous videos.
Not sure modders can save it anymore after all.
