Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster feature

Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster is locked at 30fps on PC

Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster is coming to PC on May 25th and from the looks of it, it will be a barebones port and nothing more. Not only that, but the game will be locked at 30fps on the PC.

According to some early reports and gameplay footage from the PC version, there won’t be a 60fps or unlocked framerate options. Instead, PC gamers will have to play it at 30fps.

This is the second upcoming PC game that appears to be lacking major PC features. I mean, seriously now, a 30fps PC game in 2021 is inexcusable.

I’m almost certain that the game won’t even feature proper K&M controls. It would be a pleasant surprise if it does, but I don’t really expect much from Atlus. And, if Persona 5 Royal ever comes out on PC, it will most likely follow Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster’s example.

The other upcoming PC game that is a mere console port and nothing more is NINJA GAIDEN: Master Collection. As we’ve already reported, this collection will require a gamepad, and won’t support keyboard & mouse. It won’t also have extensive PC graphics settings, though it will at least support 4K/60fps.

  1. It seems a bit unfair to compare this game to Royal. This is a PS2 original and unlocking the frame rate from the long ago probably posed a lot of issues. Not justifying or anything but I’m fairly certain they wouldn’t have those restrictions on a current game. Strikers sadly doesn’t have an unlocked date but it is at least 60fps.

    1. Oh I totally agree. $50 is definitely too steep for a barebones port. That’s why I was just commenting on the assumption that a Royal port would be of the same quality, when these are very different circumstances.

    2. Stop defending them!
PC ports is made from Switch version.
There is plenty of games that were on PS2 that on PC are in 60fps!

      1. I’m in no way defending them. I’m just point out that many of the old PS2 games FPS is tied to physics. It was probably too much work so they didn’t think it was worth it. I’m in no way saying 50 for a 30 FPS port of PS2 game is good deal. Just look at P4 Golden. Unlocked FPS and only 20, that was the proper way to do things.

    3. They made Persona 4 Golden port have 60fps and Super-Sampling. Also from PS2 era. Oh, and they priced it at $25…

  2. 30 Fps game in 2021.
Lazy CON JOB and nothing more.
If you buy this crap you are part of the problem.

    1. You can bet the rabid fanboys will glad buy this, and defend it to the death on the Steam forums. Pretty sad, tbh.

    1. New content + content that prior wasn’t available to non-Japanese speaking audiences.

Still I wouldn’t touch this bare minimum effort port at the current price. $20? Yes. $50+? Hell no.

  3. The jap school of coding never ceases to disappoint. It’s a good thing you can easily emulate this crap on pc.
