After a rocky launch, Crytek has done its best to improve the PC version of Crysis Remastered. And today, the team released a new update that brings back to the game the Ascension level. Yeap, Ascension is now available in Crysis Remastered.
Alongside this level, Update 2.0 brings some small CPU optimizations. It also makes improvements to the shadow quality and lighting on ‘Very High’ and ‘Can it run Crysis settings’, as well as to Ray Tracing.
This latest patch also packs a huge number of bug fixes. For instance, it fixes some flickering shadows on Recovery – Village. It also fixes a crash that could occur when exiting a mission to the main menu.
As always, Epic Games Store will download Update 2.0 the next time you launch its client. Below you can also find its complete changelog.

Excellent, I will buy this from EGS X-mas sales now.
Get the “original” title instead of this remastered version (assuming u don’t have it in your Library).
I have the original already. I would pick it up just to play and see the difference. He is perhaps in the same boat.
Remastered has better CPU performance actually after 1.3 and 2.0 updates than original.
The original is still better in 90% other things, from physics and AI to overall graphics….. and yeah, even DLSS is still not there
Yeah, I think when it comes to better CPU optimization, this Remastered version does have an advantage over the original game.
But for other gameplay aspects and features, the Original is still better IMO.
A polished turd is still a turd.
They are German
So now at least this remaster is singleplayer content complete and runs better than the original.
Now release this on steam with the sandbox 2 editor.
Crysis Remastered is currently 7,99€ on EGS with free 10€ coupons they are giving during holiday sales.
Have you tried it with the patch? Any thoughts on performance?
Thnx for the tip buddy! I bought it for €7.99 on EGS i have the original too. But i was very curios how it will run in 2.0 and for that small price of €7.99 i wont grief.
Thx 4 the tip bro, I bought it out of curiosity
“Crytek has done its best”
“Some small CPU optimizations”
I started playing the Original CRYSIS with the Enhanced Edition MOD recently, and the game looks pretty good in some of the levels and areas. Much better than this Remastered Edition.
So many BUG fixes are packed, as you can see from the above Patch notes ! The game was rushed, and released in an unfinished stage. The original looks and plays somewhat much better than this, at least in my opinion.
Did you tried the free version with existing texture packs or you paid for the remastered textures ?? Never found a comparison between the free and the paid textures
Nope, I have the Mod installed from NexusMods itself. All the 5 .rar parts. Is there a PAID version as well, behind a paywall ? Is it better ?
Edit:
Never mind. I found the paid link as well, Patreon/Discord paid membership options.
Yep, they made an 8K texture pack for the guys who supported them on Patreon, the free version of the mod includes existing textures packs (Rygel, Maximum Immersion, Upscaled Vanilla Textures…)
They’re still good though, just want to know how they compare to these paid textures
Yup, I just found the paid link as well. I edited my reply. Btw, 8K textures are going to be VRAM hungry as well. The Free Mod version is still worth downloading..
But like you mentioned, we need to see how much of a Visual difference is there between these 2 versions.
Amen
Hard to comment on this one actually, but for the original Crysis, I haven’t tested the BlackFire’s Mod recently, but the Enhanced Edition appears to be better in some aspects than the Blackfire, imo.
But again, I’m not much proficient with Game mods, so my taste and preference might differ to some extent.
Good. What all game mods you have made ? Did you also upload the mods On NEXUS or some other site as well ?
crysis was always a buggy mess with horribly buggy ai though
Seems like the shareholders slapped their azzes, good, bu still no custom maps support, no manual saving, Denuvo protected and Epic exclusive, so keep trying
Like 3 months now, still the DLSS they promised isn’t there
God damn, they really are patching the game really good. Hopefully the Ascension level contains the fix that repaired performance in the original Crysis.
Idiots who pre-order or buy before reviews come out.
Epic access version. lol
Considering the depth of the bug fixes on this project at least one person, likely several on the team know Crysis 1’s singleplayer code inside out now. What a shame that the next Crysis will be a BR and not singleplayer.
My God what is it with nearly every damn game that comes out taking months and sometimes even over a year to actually work out the bugs and perform like it should at launch.
Console gaming ruined Crysis. Removed the excellent MP, neutered modding… everything.
hahahahahhahahahahahahhahahaha
lol
anyway i was watching some youtube channel that does the whole cool kills things like clonker with far cry or when taking out outposts. He was playing cyberpunk and then i went to rabbit’s respawn who also does things like that and he had some crysis 2 adn 3 cool killls. Gotta say crysis 2 is holding up fine and crysis 3 looks like a ps4 game, heck it looks almost as good as cyberpunk. its amazing how consoles hold graphics back.
Stupid crytek, made most of their money with pc gamers from crysis 1 and then wasted it all for crysis 2 and 3 that did not make money, they were made with crysis 1 money. So much for consoles.
Imagine what crysis could make instead of porting the console version of crysis 1 to pc.
Btw, do the original CHEAT codes, all the console commands, and CVARS also work on this “Remastered version” ? I presume they should, unless the Devs have done some changes to the ENGINE.
Can anyone confirm this. Just some examples:
God Mode - g_godMode = 1No Target - ai_IgnorePlayer = 1
No Weapon Limit - i_noweaponlimit = 1
Unlimited Ammo - i_unlimitedammo = 1
You can also modify your suit stats. For example:
g_playerHealthValue = 400.0
g_playerSuitArmorModeHealthRegenTime = 0
g_playerSuitArmorModeHealthRegenTimeMoving = 0
g_playerSuitEnergyRechargeDelay = 0
g_playerSuitEnergyRechargeTimeArmor = 0
g_playerSuitEnergyRechargeTimeArmorMoving = 0
g_playerSuitEnergyRechargeTime = 0
g_playerSuitHealthRegenDelay = 0
g_playerSuitHealthRegenTime = 0
g_playerSuitHealthRegenTimeMoving = 0
g_suitArmorHealthValue = 400.0
g_suitCloakEnergyDrainAdjuster = 0
g_suitRecoilEnergyCost = 0
g_suitSpeedEnergyConsumption = 0
g_suitSpeedMult = 2
yes, though there are some new ones as well, some have changed names slightly, and some are missing
I mostly just wanted to tweak the High settings to get a constant 60fps so I’m using these in an autoexec.cfg:
e_lodratio=15
e_ViewDistRatioDetail=70
e_ViewDistRatio=80
e_ViewDistRatioVegetation=60
e_ShadowsMaxTexRes=512
r_ShadowJittering=3
r_ShadowmapCutoffpixels=10
MM you should get the game in the Christmas sale and try it out – I’ve noticed many many places that are running at 60fps minimum where the original would dip below 40fps. Definitely CPU optimizations in this version, despite the complaints.
Hey,
Thanks for the reply, and the info ! Much appreciated ! Alright, let me see if I can grab this Game now itself, or wait for some more time.
I definitely want those Cheat codes to function properly, along with other console commands to Tweak as well. Yup, according to reports, the CPU optimization appears to be better in this game.
Credit where credit is due but why couldn’t they have just waited until now and then released it?
They completely botched their own launch and EGS and Denuvo was just the icing on the cake.
FFS they gave us the console version. Why remaster the worst version of the game? Crytek Failed their fans …again.
