It appears that the time has finally come. Bioware has announced that it will make an interesting announcement tomorrow on its blog. And, in case you didn’t know, tomorrow is the N7 Day, a celebration day for the Mass Effect franchise. So yeah, we can safely assume that Bioware will officially reveal tomorrow the Mass Effect Legendary Edition.
In addition, Jeff Grubb shared the following image which appears to be the new box art for this trilogy.

From what we know so far, Mass Effect Legendary Edition will release in early 2021. EA was planning to reveal this remastered trilogy in September 2020, however, its plans changed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Last month, the Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea rated this remaster.
My guess is that the Mass Effect Trilogy Remaster will feature the base games alongside their DLCs. Additionally, Bioware will most likely implement higher resolution textures, and some QoL improvements. According to an earlier report, BioWare is also looking into improving both of the graphics and gameplay mechanics of the first Mass Effect game.
Stay tuned for more!

go remaster the crappy ending of this otherwise great trilogy.
They already tried to do that with the “expanded ending”…which was some concept art gallery masked as a sequence to explain what happened after. I don’t expect any change in the script…they are “remasters” after all.
to me the ending isn’t so bad. especially after the expanded ending being added to the game. but to some people they probably hate it no matter what ending they got shepard still going to die haha.
Has nothing to do with Shep dying. It’s the non peer reviewed idiotic ending by Mac Walters who only solo lead wrote ME 3. He’s the Rian Johnson of Mass Effect. He made everything you did in the game from superior writers pointless and everything the starkid says is a logic fail. It’s why I even hate the happy ending mod where Shep lives and you have that stupid conversation.
Reasons the ME 3 ending will never work as is.
1) Edi disagrees with machines just like organics disagrees with humans. Also conflict within legion and the Geth shows that even a hive mind will lack consensus. The idea peace is secured with synthesis is therefore flawed. It also makes the entire premise for the creation of the reapers flawed. In addition any hybrid creature we have seen during the game is a nightmare puppet who appears to have no free will.
2) Control was offered to the Illusive man and he was never in control. The player has no reason to think he/she isn’t being lied to like he was.
Destroy is the only solution that makes any sense and starkid breaks all the logic in the game. Mac Walters tried to FORCE you into synthesis in the original ending where the geth and edi will die, which makes the ending even dumber. The end of ragnarok, Adam and Eve scene with edi and joker on a paradise planet also screams synthesis is the canon ending.
Summary Mac Walters is an idiot, Drew Karpyshyn was Mass Effect and he got put on the most expensive game ever (SWTOR) and Bioware lost so much talent Walters got promoted and that is why ME:A was a mess.
The complain comes from the false promises of how your choices matter…they don’t.
As far as endings goes..is pretty standard for a scifi story with the scope that the games have.
Choices in ME2 that resulted in a character’s death in the suicide mission affected the story in ME3 as the NPCs you were trying to save throughout died if the ME2 character wasn’t there but that was about it. None of the other choices throughout the previous games seemed to have any notable effect in ME3.
Pretty much, i think the peak on that aspect was indeed the suicide mission (where you and all your squad can die, of course it doesnt matter if your whole squad dies if you play ME3, you get a generic replacement).
Of course, there’s plenty of good stuff in ME3, some from the main game (the Krogan mission for instance) and the Citadel DLC, but damn that ending…
Pity, this game could really use a full remake, gameplay with things from the Andromeda game, consistent Citadel between games…
They will probably adapt the first game to be more in line with the sequels, that’s my bet…which is a shame since is the only one that plays like a proper RPG.
I want you to be wrong, but i gotta a feeling you are right.
PC gamers have modded multiple endings AND made Citadel DLC post game. You have the happy ending mod, JAM A, JAM B and LIME.
I prefer JAM B or LIME. Can easily search them on youtube. Those two skip starkid altogether. LIME skips the conversation with Anderson I think which I liked.
They should, their games look worst than the OG Arkham games (imo) and a lot more time has passed, including a new generation of shitboxes, it should be a bigger improvement.
Modding can do a lot to bridge the gap, but still…
Honestly go for broke and put it on Unreal 5, with Lumen and everything.
Return to Arkham despite some visual art change and downgraded cutscenes is technically superior to the OG games, better lighting, textures, models, shadows, rain effects and distant landscapes/skyboxes, but it performance issues were very important, sadly it was never released on PC so we can at least brute force the game by time.
With the absence of a PC version of RTA, the OG PC versions remain the best way to experience them though i agree
if they port it to UE4 that no longer a remaster. that would be remake.
More like a mix between remake and a remaster, just like Gears of War UE or Halo 1 & 2 AE
Pretty much everything except sound, level layout and animations are redone from scratch in the mentioned games, and i didn’t say Remake, i said a mix of the two
Hopefully it’s as amazing as the Need for Speed Hot Pursuit remake.
I’m not keen on ME1 being more like ME2 and ME3 mechanics wise. Unpopular opinion but I preferred when Mass Effect was more RPG than shooter. The ME1 inventory was a mess but Bioware went the wrong direction simplifying everything. I like complex systems, Larian’s Divinity OS games show what can be achieved when you go for more complexity rather than less.
Fully agree with you. RPG first, then other stuff
I feel the same way! Mass Effect 1 was the best! That feeling of planning attack or defending was everything!
Mass effect seems to have become the victim of try to please them all and end up pleasing few – Just for the reasons you described. Stupidification aka streamlining don’t belong in rpg’s and the watered down rpg experience have turned many fans down while the shooter part wasn’t good enough to entice that new wanted crowd.

I’m wondering what it will cost.
Willing to bet they slap a $50us price tag on this!!
It might be more. The 3 base games sell for a combined total of $60 and then you get all of the DLC plus the remastered effects. I know that you can mod the ME games but I’ve noticed over the years that quite a few people don’t know how to mod a game. I especially saw this on modding Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 on a site dedicated to modding those 2 games. It was simple to mod those games but so many people said they couldn’t do it and when I and others would take them through it step by step they still couldn’t.
And it would be a steal. $50 for three awesome, remastered games is an incredible value.
Console gamers – AWESOME
PC Gamers – already have 4 k textures with “alot” mod, already modded the ending with Happy ending mod or JAM A, B or LIME and modded post game citadel DLC. JAM B and it seem to work great together.
A 2080TI can almost play this game at 8k…
Apparently they postponed it for as long as they did because the first game is as clunky as it is and they wanted to work on it. I am of very similar view that you have. If the first game is reworked to play more like the second game I can see myself playing through this again.
When it’s on sale though. 😀
“If the first game is reworked to play more like the second game I can see myself playing through this again.”
The second game plays like a budget version cover shooter, the third one had the best mechanics if i remember it right.
You mean make it run worse on UE4? Here let me spoil this for you. They are gonna SJ// the female characters in the game like they did in ME:Androgyny. The additions to ME 1 are gonna be making Kaidan hit on you like they did with Cortez. They will spend the budget on that over new bases from the first game that repeated the same layout on every single planet and spaceship mission. THAT is what current Bioware thinks is wrong with these games lol.
Honestly, the female models in the original trilogy was never really good, and that was probably a conscious decision on their part, because in the future every human will be mixed race according to the official game lore.
Only the first game was good. The franchise turned into crap the second Bioware joined EA.
At this point they should have just remastered ME3 multiplayer, it was probably the only good thing in the third game.
True, the first ME was great. It’s easy to see EAs meddling in the 2nd and 3rd. The 2 co-founders of Bioware tried to say that EA didn’t meddle in ME2 or ME3 when they retired together but it’s easy to see that EA was. ME became just another shooter when EA bought them.
I miss the old Bioware. They made some truly great games.
to each their own. I thought Mass Effect 2 was the best one. Loved that game.
As an RPG game mass effect 1 was no doubt the best but the gameplay sucked a** , Mass effect 2 had a very nice balance of good story and RPG elements with some of the best DLC’s , while Mass effect 3 had the best gameplay but RPG elements were significantly cut down . Mass effect 3 felt more like an action game rather then an RPG game with the worse ending ever.
I blame Bioware for ME2 more than EA. ME3? That was EA. Before ME2 romance was main plot relevant in Bioware games outside maybe Liara which was just a nod to OLD Star Trek and Kirk. All the romance in ME is complete trash compared to something like Bastila from KOTOR and it’s trash because none of it has any weight.
ME2 is when the nerds started to get replaced by geek culture male femini$t ally clowns at Bioware and all those people pushed out real talent, brainwashed who was left and hired their no talent pals. Casey Hudson who made fun of lunatics who posted things like the Tali sweat thread started catering to them.
ME3 is when EA pushing too many projects caused a complete lack of talent on 3. SWTOR took a lot of the best people from previous ME games. SWTOR broke a lot of good employees to and they just retired, quit etc.
If you want to see the people who ruined Bioware look at someone like Patrick Weekes. The dude should be in a rubber room along with his swinger otherkin wife. The guy has had a complete mental breakdown and because everything he does now involves politics and gender studies insanity, he couldn’t outwrite a high school student. He cares more about his purple hair highlights as a 50-60 year old dude (calls himself them/they) than an actual good story lol.
I hope they add lootboxes so i can see people scream and cry
Such a pathetic existence you have..
Hey people keep buying into it. People only have to themselves to blame
Well, the people complaining are the ones that aren’t buying into it…so why having some enjoyment from that goes beyond me
Remaster just means repackaging the game and maybe adjusting the contrast a hair. BOOM!!! EA REMASTER!!! LOOOL!!! I really am not expecting much from this. It’s really just a way to sell copies of this game on next gen consoles. If you own these games on pc… most likely won’t be worth it at all. I only really like Mass Effect 2 anyways and I am perfectly fine with the copy I have on steam. So whatever!
Come on, now you’re just whining about EA for no reason. The Command & Conquer remake was awesome and they really did a ton of work on it. And you can’t really blame EA for milking remasters, because they haven’t actually released many of them. I’m all for giving them sh*t when it’s warranted, but so many just complain for the sake of complaining.
I hope they don’t remaster the female character face texture into wahmen…
in 2020.. i already lost hope with EA and Bioware. don’t forget sarkeesian visit to Bioware and claimed they are buddies.
Bioware was all about ghey culture from it’s inception, even in the Bauldurs Gate Era they had ghey writers and left leaning themes, so if you think accusing Sarkeesian of being bigoted is going to convince these people, then i have bad news for you…
ME1 and 2 where good story…and game play….not a master piece but good very good…engaging….after that everything went down the drain…EA..BioWare the whole system, what we got was ME3 witch was s*it…ME Andromeda i wont even consider that as a game….and Anthem a game witch can be surmised in a sentence (Failure of Imagination) so to all sports fans out there “It’s a little late” for any remaster of any kind
i really want Bioware to fix Ashley’s marksman skill bug where she keeps loading her gun instead of shooting. I love ME series. ME1 had the best atmosphere but crappy gameplay, ME2 had amazing story and character progression but shooting mechanic lacks depth. ME3 did the latter better but rpg elements were much weaker. Ending was trash but mods fixed that already and some contents were cut out from the main game too. There can never be a perfect mass effect game.
“i really want Bioware to fix Ashley’s marksman skill bug where she keeps loading her gun instead of shooting.”
In which game was this?
Stupidification aka streamlining don’t belong in rpg’s and the watered down rpg experience have turned many fans down while the shooter part wasn’t good enough to entice that additional wanted crowd.
Mass effect seems to have become the victim of try to please them all and end up pleasing few – It have lost its identity along the road.
