In 2018, CI Games announced that Defiant Studios was working on Lords of the Fallen 2. However, in 2019, the publisher terminated contract with Defiant Studios. And today, almost a year afterwards, CI Games announced that Lords of the Fallen 2 is back in development by a new studio.
Although CI Games did not reveal any major details, we do know that Hexworks is now working on it. Hexworks is a brand new studio based in both Barcelona and Bucharest. The studio comprised of around 25 veteran staff with triple-A game development experience.
Saul Gascon, Executive Producer at Hexworks, said:
“As a dedicated gamer myself, I can feel when developers are passionate about the games they make. And this is what our studio is all about: Creating games we love to play ourselves. We’ve gathered a kickass team of senior developers with a deep fascination for mature fantasy games. The path has been intense, especially with the global lockdown situation. However, and by working shoulder-to- shoulder with Marek and Cezar, we’ve gathered a great team mostly from our networks.
I can’t wait to share more information on the studio, and show what we are working on!”
Cezar Virtosu, Creative Director at Hexworks, added:
“For many months now, the three of us worked defining and scoping the project, to find the right DNA that would grant us a competitive edge and still remain in the realm of feasibility. It is challenging to develop combat-focused games remotely, but this is offset by the ease of contacting and working with massive Soulsborne fans scattered around the world. It is an intoxicating mix of indie production and fanwork, since we are not a big production block and we all come from the genre’s trenches, thus, regardless of nationality, we are speaking the same game language. We are enthusiastic about our mission and we are aiming to deliver a creatively charged gameplay experience within the genre’s framework.”
There is currently no ETA on when the game will come out. However, CI Games plans to release Lords of the Fallen 2 on next-gen platforms (including the PC).

John is the founder and Editor in Chief at DSOGaming. He is a PC gaming fan and highly supports the modding and indie communities. Before creating DSOGaming, John worked on numerous gaming websites. While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2. John has also written a higher degree thesis on the “The Evolution of PC graphics cards.”

Missed an important part on how it’s developed in UE4 and was given a megagrant worth $7 million by Tim Sweeney.
Nice! Tim Sweeney is the saint patron of gaming lmao.
Souls clone this, Souls clone that. My God! This f ucking shiity genre for low IQ faqqots should just die already.
how is it low iq? Its the only genre of games in the past decade that don’t hold your hand and make you watch gratuitous cutscenes
Whilst I’m not a fan of these games a lot of other people are, so i’m not sure why you’re raging so much.
Whoever it is… it shows as blocked for me. most likely some toxic turd. Block them and be graced to never see them in the comments. It’s nice!!!
just did it. As someone who rolls eyes at DS clones.
Lol, relax.
This one wasn’t a “clone”. The setup was similar but the gameplay was different.
My feeling EXACTLY!
First game looked nice but was janky.
I just hated the shaky camera
