Microsoft Flight Simulator also coming on Steam, will support TrackIR, VR support coming post-launch

Yesterday, we informed you about the launch of the closed beta phase for Microsoft Flight Simulator. And today, Microsoft revealed that the game will be also coming to Steam. Not only that, but Microsoft Flight Simulator will support TrackIR at launch day.

TrackIR is the premier head tracking solution delivering full six degree of freedom (6DOF) camera control. TrackIR will allow simmers to enjoy a low latency mouse free look around with Microsoft Flight Simulator in full 4K/HDR. Furthermore, it will also allow easy interaction with a suite of hardware peripherals.

Microsoft has also announced that the game will receive VR support via a post-launch update. This is something that a lot of simmers have been asking for, so this is definitely great news. According to the team, the VR update will be available for free to all Microsoft Flight Simulator gamers. It will also support the HP Reverb G2 which will be available later this Fall.

Microsoft Flight Simulator will be available on Steam, Windows 10 and Xbox Game Pass for PC on August 18th.

  1. l’ll wait for the VR first. I personally think that not having VR support at launch is pretty ridiculous at this point in time with a simulator as big and as expensive as this. VR is very popular and we’re way past the “fad” stage. Sim fans, especially flight sim fans, love VR and a LOT of them own VR, me included.

I mean, I just don’t get how one of the most popular sectors in PC hardware in the sim sphere couldn’t be finished in the time it’s taken them to make this game. Not like the hardware wasn’t available or something. Not like there aren’t easy to use tools to do it.

    Meh, what ever I guess.
