Halo Reach Evolved & Halo Reach Forge Collection are the first big mods for Halo: Reach PC

Last week, Microsoft and 343 Industries released Halo: Reach on the PC. As we’ve already reporeted, Halo: Reach supports mods from the get-go. And today, we are presenting you the first two/three big mods for it that are currently available for download.

The first big mod is no other than the Halo Reach: Evolved campaign overhaul mod. Halo: Reach Evolved is a sandbox overhaul of Halo: Reach that brings in certain aspects from the original trilogy of Halo games, re-balances the Legendary Campaign difficulty, edits some of the Campaign encounters, introduces brand new content, and alters the weapons and vehicles to give each tool of destruction their own distinct niche.

The PC version of Halo Reach Evolved currently features two missions. These demo missions are the Campaign level Winter Contingency and the Firefight level Beachhead. Players will have to use a program that applies PPF patches to other map files, like PPF-O-Matic, to gain access to this mod. You can download the mod from here.

The second mod we have for you is Halo Reach Forge Collection. This mod features 300+ maps that were retrieved from the original Xbox Halo Reach. The collection includes Fat Kid, Jenga, Indiana Jones and some others. Moreover, the mod includes all game modes corresponding to each maps.

Lastly, Halo fans can also try Reach Combat Evolved. This mod is a reimagining of Halo Reach’s campaign, featuring modifications to weapons, vehicles, difficulty balancing and more.

Have fun!

  1. after playing the pirated version of halo reach for 6-7 hours i just realized my hatred for halo as a franchise was just in all these years, i think they’re painfully generic to a point where you assume they’re the worst games ever made even though clearly there are shooters worse than halo (although they might not have the budget of halo).

    1. You are not alone in this take. Im glad that finally are on PC (where all FPS should be played) but..it will show how painfully bland (and im talking about gameplay, not lore-story) are. They are fantastic for a console FPS tho.

    2. The last time i played Halo was Halo CE, i had mixed feelings even back then.

But after all those i decided to try Reach, and holy sh?t its terrible, one of the worst gunplays i have ever seen.

The guns have no weight in them, they feel like waterpistols. Same for the sound department, because its an old game it doesn’t have to be bad on the sound, exactly the opposite, because old games were limited in the technical side they had some good sound effects etc. This one was trash.

I installed RE4 “HD” just for fun and damn it was so much better in terms of gunplay – a vital aspect of those games –

How can a game from 2005 on PS2 (1 gen before 360) 5 years before Reach’s release (2010) be so much better ? And Reach was first party too, MS’s company they should be able to optimize the hell out of it to.

Even the first pistol in RE4 has more weight, impact in its shot than those rifles in Reach wth.

    3. I donno,I mean i get it Halo is not for everyone, but calling it bland and generic is really over exaggerating.

I mean, those terms are used for games like Section 8, and Time Shift.

      Halo has alot of lore behind it and lots of details and love put into the game, {strictly speaking of Bungie days}

I have played many many FPS in my time, been gaming since the 90s, and i have never mistaken halo for anything else, its unique in its own right.

  2. im confused, what the is the difference between (Halo Reach: Evolved campaign overhaul mod) and [Halo Reach Evolved]

      1. Maker of Reach Combat Evolved here.

I aimed to imitate the features of halo combat evolved into reach. Problem was, it seems vadam was doing the same thing. So I decided to give him room as he’s.. yknow, been doing his thing for years on 360. Mine is going to be more of an overhaul in the end.
