Take-Two CEO, Strauss Zelnick, shared some interesting thoughts about the potential PC sales of the company’s games. According to Zelnick, the world has changes and the PC format can now account for 40% or 50% of a multi-platform game’s revenue.
As Zelnick told GamesIndustry:
“The world has changed. When we consider a console release, the PC format can be 40% or 50% now of that revenue. Ten years ago, that number was 1% or 2%. Clearly, the world is changing. A previously closed system is indeed turning into an open system. That means hardware is going to look more like hardware and less like hardware taxing software, which is great news for us.”
This basically explains why Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming to the PC, and why all future Take-Two will find their way on our platform. Speaking of RDR2, Rockstar and Take-Two claimed that a PC version was in the plans from the get-go. Yeap, despite not announcing the PC version at first, the companies had already plans to release it on the PC.
To be honest, this does not surprise us at all. After all, it’s the exact same thing Rockstar and Take-Two did with Grand Theft Auto 5. And you can bet your asses that they will – most likely – do the same thing with Grand Theft Auto 6.

While he is a die-hard PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved – and still does – the 16-bit consoles, and considers SNES to be one of the best consoles. Still, the PC platform won him over consoles. That was mainly due to 3DFX and its iconic dedicated 3D accelerator graphics card, Voodoo 2. It doesn’t matter to me. I’ve already bought the game and I’m waiting for the premiere and I’m going to have fun. I’ve never played any game in the RDR series before. Patience pays off??
Um… has your patience paid off, when the first entry you just bought, is one of R*’s worst games ever, which is littered with online/money gouging/artificial wall bulls**t? How has your patience been rewarded here?
Might consider stop treating us like second class citizens then…
Yea he wont. Im sure GTA 6 will come out years after the console version. They make good games, but their attitude is total TRASH!
There still gonna be people who gonna pay up a full priced price for a dead game lol. No matter how much they shiet on the community
just look around here man, everyone is excited for all 160 GB’s of Red Dead 2. The same crowd that probably pre-ordered every UbiSoft game. You say anything and they jump right down your throat. One thing is for sure; they love to pre-order these same games from these same greedy publishers and then complain in the comment section.
I’m sure it’s just one big coincidence that this publisher is finally saying positive things about PC at the very same time he wants PC gamers to be lining their pockets with our money by purchasing the needlessly delayed RDR2. /s
I actually prefer if no one buy that garbage. Rather pirate it, let them go f@@k themselves with their delayed garbage game
Yep, that celestial aligning in the stars. The coincidence is just oozing out of this. I have complete and total faith in “Strauss Zelnick”. He’s forever been a champion of the PC.

Yeah funny how that works.
One of the devs said the only reason we never got a RDR1 game on PC is because the source for that game was a real mess and would require a near total re-write. It’s also why we’ll proabby never get one.
We will, emulated, but we will play it on pc. No worries.
Yeah that company made the rage engine, RDR had the first version of that engine and it was a mess. We saw how much of a mess it was on pc with gta iv and then you got max payne 3 which had the latest version of the engine NOT gta v. The next gent gta v release had the latest upgraded version which was used on pc gta v.
They still can make emulated version from PS3/Xbox 360. Just like what Konami do with Silent Hill HD collection…
Not something surprising…
For a company like Ubisoft, PC is #1

These figures make perfect sense.
WTF is wrong with you man? What’s going on in that head of yours ROBO?
If you have the IQ of a rotten cabbage, yes, they make perfect sense. Looks like you are working as intended, bud.

I still will never like rockstar, they always show the middle finger to the PC community, 0 news, left in the dark, not knowing if we gonna get it, even tho they are huge as f*k and could make pc release the same day as the consoles but nuhhhh f@@k pc community they can wait and get spoiled.
***Ten years ago, that number was 1% or 2%. ***
BS
Otherwise you wouldnt release Bully, LA Noire, GTA games, Manhunt games, BioShock games, Mafia 2 etc. on PC.
I wouldn’t really doubt that claim
Ports usually had a bad rep at the time due to the severely different hardware and architecture between various platforms and marketing usually only happened in one platform, even with multiplats.
While still very different today, PC gaming and Console gaming at the time were two nearly isolated and completely different a ecosystems.
Games developed for PC sold more than ports or multiplats, same way vice versa.
And all those games you named are still alive today BECAUSE OF THE FUQIN PC. 100% with you dude, these people are scum.
Ten years ago, that number was 1% or 2%. LOL they must be joking
Comical the lies the people in this industry can just casually get away with. 1% or 2% is just so f**king absurd, you’d have to be an intellectual vegetable to believe a single letter of that statement.
I was reading the numbers and I was like wtf, their sh**ty games like san andreas and gta 4 were all played on pc a lot. What the hell are they talking about, not to mention hello 2010 I remember steam was moving pretty good with pc games, f*king clones lol
of course he is he’s a rich power hungry jew. what else would you expect of him.
Fascinating insights.
Much like your posts are a fascinating insight into mental illness.
Vacuous PR piffle so to butter up PC gamers after having made us wait much longer for no good reason for GTA V and now RDR2.
Expect the shills in the access media to dance to his tune given that Take-Two is one of the industry’s heavyweight paying advertisers whose advertising dollars help keep said games ‘journalists’ in employment.
On a semi-related note, it’s truly heart-warming to witness the current ongoing implosion at Kotaku whereby the new owner is wisely seeking to save the sinking ship by ridding the site of hateful SJWs masquerading as games journalists before #getwokegobroke claims yet another victim. So many tears, so many tantrums. Glorious! ?
Yeah cuz here on pc we are not Limited to 1 game / month…
And we are not as stup.d a*s console peasants who buys what ever a TripLeAaA trashcan sh.t out……
EXACTLY, we have so much more to chose from. Even if its shovelware, we have more options. COnsoles have limited options. It’s sad how they skew numbers and people don’t have the brains to do a little analytics and realize that they are full of garbo
1 or 2 % WTF. Maybe for sports games but other than that this is BS.
We love PC now (until our next announcement that we don’t even mention PC for 1 or 2 years), buy our game NOW!
That’s what he said.
While not 100% accurate lets simplify this.
1. PC gaming market has gotten ALOT bigger
2. New consoles are PC Arch. Saves on dev
3. Most importantly shark cards etc make a sh*t ton of money
Language, John! Language….
