Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming out on the PC in two weeks, and the first graphics video comparison between the PC and the console versions has surfaced online. This video puts the PC trailer against the Xbox One X version, in identical scenes/environments.
Unfortunately, this video has a lot of compression artifacts. As such, there is no way to actually judge the visual difference of the game’s textures. Still, you will be able to notice the improved view distance that the PC version will feature. Moreover, some environmental effects appear to be “richer” on the PC.
Rockstar has stated that the PC version will have increased draw distances for better navigation, higher quality global illumination and ambient occlusion for improved day and night lighting, and higher quality snow trails. Furthermore, the game will have improved reflections and deeper, higher resolution shadows at all distances. Tessellated tree textures and improved grass and fur textures will be also added for extra realism.
As said, this is an early video comparison that will simply give you an idea of the visual improvements of the PC version. This video does not compare each and every aspect of the game as it’s not out yet on the PC. And let me say it one more time; there are a lot of compression artifacts so you should not judge the quality of the textures.
Buy anyway, I’m pretty sure that some of you will find it interesting. So, go ahead and enjoy this video comparison, courtesy of Cycu1!

Peasants be like:
The xbox looks batter.
They actually do. Just look at the comments from the video. Peasants are mad, as always.
Excellent!
Going to pre-order this from EGS on 23rd.
Steam here so it’s actually in my library of games.
I will also pay for the keyloger on 23rd
LMAO
like steam doesnt spy on you? lol
The fucc are you talking about?
Excellent!
Excellent!
I was expecting the difference on the PC version to be as huge as it was for the PC version of GTA 5 compared to the consoles. Need to wait for a better comparison video maybe? or is this it?
What do you mean “compared to consoles” ,you mean the old consoles.Right? That’s why it was a huge difference back then.GTA V pc version vs CURENT gen consoles they are not that different.Almost the same.Just the basic better AA ,more view distance and a couple of dynamic shadows. So it’s likely that Red Dead 2 will follow the same path. Unless they “RTX” the whole game.
Oh yeah i completely forgot it was a PS3 to PS4 upgrade. Am getting old.
No you don’t 🙂 Glad I could help!
Let’s hope for a much better experience in november. When I played the game on PS4 Pro with supersampling the imagine was superb.I only found some non accurate cube maps.Besides that I don’t know what else could they improve.Maybe the textures and a Rtx update could do the trick .But an Rtx card is still not worth it.To much marketing ,so little difference.
Agreed also the price tag versus the performance is another topic. I rather have RTX-ed games from 90s till PS3 era…anything beyond that…maybe after a better RTX card comes out.
Do you know why every car is locked to max 140mph in the game???
Cuz consoles cant render higher speed…. Watch some videos where some guy somehow goes faster and the game cant keep up rendering the building. …thx consoles for F ing up the game what is about cars going fast….
Is that true? lol
Yep. Look up any old ps3 gameplay when ppl just going fast in the city and you can see the renders poping up left and right cuz consoles are sh.t
Thx ps3 and xbox 360 for limiting games even today……
While cool and all… the person that made this video wasted their time. The trailer alone you can tell the graphics are waaaaaay better. why even bother. who is questioning or wondering if it even is?
rockstar are known to use realtime actual gameplay in there trailers
their* trailers, you mean.
The difference really is not that large. The One X holds up superbly.
Oh. Ok. I guess there is no difference Between 30 and 60+ FPS.. OR 30 and 144..
*Hastag* peasants cant see above 30fps….
Are you trolling? This is a graphics comparison, not performance.
When you play on Pc you wont lock it to 30 fps… Right??
FPS is part of the Graphics
You may start saying things like oh different resolution and preformance and graphics its all different….
And i say. No. Its the whole thing that matters….
And for the start Pc have minimum 2x more fps from the start… Witch makes it mutch better overall experience…..
+if you dont like how the pc looks than just go back to your 30fps. Netflix machine or just set the pc version graphics to medium lock the fps to 30 and you will have peasant experience…..
Your spelling, grammar and punctuation is absolutely atrocious. The way in which you use upper and lower case letters is even worse. As a result, I’m much less likely to be persuaded by any argument you may present.
Nonetheless, “how it looks” and “how it runs” are in fact two different things. If you’re comparing the image quality of different graphical settings or platforms, frame rate is not relevant within the scope of that discussion.
Can’t see above 30fps, or actual high textures, etc. It is a well known fact that peasants can’t read, or see.
RDR2 on Xbone X can’t even maintain its pitiful 30fps, lol!

Hahahahahah yeah so right
Ahahahahahahah
In my eye, compared to what i saw, it does not. On top of that, that video wasn’t that well made. I expect more in-depth ones that’ll clearly show what the pc version will be able to offer.
Yeah it would be good to see real time FPS and sh*t… I bet there will be a huge difference Between 30 and 60 fps
I mean, fps isn’t a “feature” but for many if not all of us it is a major point for getting a pc. RDR2 @60-90-120-144hz with the gfx i saw ? Man it’s going to be epic. Now takes makes many wonder if we’ll need a titan rtx to get maxed out 40fps lmao.
You “bet” there will be a huge difference between 30 and 60 FPS? How would you not already know this based on previous things you’ve said? Of course there’s a huge difference. A difference of 30 frames. Is there any “betting” necessary?
At the end when all set and down the setting of the X will be around medium/high settings compared to PC or lower who knows
LMAO ! The PC version makes the console version look like a dated game! AND this is without talking about the framerate !!!
It kinda is. I mean, look how much different it is on PC.
It is wasting time for sure
Dude everyone know that you can get better graphics in a PC than a console.
OMG even ever think on it Jesus
Why compare it even?
Don’t get fooled by Rockstar’s clip or the early video comparison. The weather is super dynamic and textures could be sharper or softer depending of the time of day, fog, smog, etc.Remember Gta V. Also objectively speaking, besides the view distance nothing is change.Let’s hope for the better.
The current gen can’t even run a game in 1080p at 60fps so yeah, the next gen will be just as bad.
@John Papadopoulos you need to check Digital Foundry vid from Alex Battaglia

Worst comparisson I’ve ever see!
And we know that this is the final version, of course the peasant boxe’s version sucks compared to the Master Race™ one.
Night and day difference, though I cant help but feel they’ve only put effort into the PC version so that they can re release it to PS5 and XB1…2.
