How ESRB actually rates video games

Have you even wondered how ESRB rates video games? First of all, they do not play the games. Why bother right? They just watch a two minute video of the game. It could easily be just one person in a room. The video is being send by the game studio and the video should represent the worst in the game. The studios are only volunteer to do so. Honestly this rating system sounds horrible.

Basically the game studio has to fill up an application and send the two minute video, of whatever they want at ESRB. It doesn’t even have to be a finished game. Then some person sits and watches the video with his chipboard and checks the boxes. That is how video games ratings are done by ESRB.

Now I do not know about you guys, but to me, the procedure sounds ridiculous. Of course there have been some attempts to change this specific way of rating, but sadly nothing has changed over the years. The ESRB board is suppose to protect customers and have their interests in mind, not of the companies. But when a CEO of a gaming company, is also the chairman of ESRB, well, it makes sense. If you want to help change things up, you should consider contacting ESRB.

  1. that’s literally on the ESRB website.
it’s common knoweldge. at least it’s supposed to be, since it’s on the ESRB website. that’s how all rating systems works.

    1. But how many people know about this? I didn’t, and it’s insane if this is really how they rate games.

      1. “insane?” why? why is this insane? because devs can lie? why would they? ESRB ask devs “ey, do your game have any of these?” and devs answers “yes, yes it does” “ok, then. this rating” and that’s it. what else do they need?

play the game? at what extend? full? why?

  2. ESRB and PEGI should be dismantled. They have showed time and time again they are worthless organizations incapable of rating and assessing without bias the contents of a videogame.

    1. If there wont be ESRB, government will do it instead and then we all Fcked up!
Pray to gaming gods that ESRB will forever be indepandnt and run by businessman from the industry.

  3. Until recently I forgot AJ existed. His poon repellent posse is a bit too much for me and made me lose respect for him.

      1. I hold a standard amount of respect for any common individual. It takes something for me to actively disrespect someone.

  4. 2K or w.e CEO is same as CEO of ESRB . Why do you think Pokemon isn’t E for the same reason NBA2k20 shouldn’t be E . ESRB . Bob? Fuak both of you . (:

I may not have a girlfriend, but dude, you got your four boyfriends, and you still lost out . Yikes .

  5. I don’t believe what any of those gringos and the vampire say. This is just another outrage caused by some random channel to get views on their 10+ minute video, most likely even sponsored by the chair company they’ve seated their burritos on.

      1. No. They’re just labelling ESRB and the other as bad when all they did was midjudge NBA 2K20. G get over it

    1. Both on left are Peruvians both have roots in Peru, Alex have slavic roots just like you Master VOKSI…
      What a idiot.

    2. Gringo is a term for typically white, foreign people used by Hispanics. Its originally derived from green-go-home.

  6. hahhaha! 2 minutes! What do you think, Im curious, how they presented Mortal Kombat? Did they made “best of” compilation of fatalities, or they made 2 min fatality speedrun! Or did they made one mega brutafatalititastic finisher?

  7. i though how much money you can pour to them i mean they literally put loot boxing game simulator as everyone rating ….

  8. People dont understand that ESRB PROTECTS US from the government.
The only reason there is no offical censorship government body that deals iwth games, sensors them and decides witch age they Ok for or if they should be outright banned [something like in Arab Gulf countries and China] is due to ESRB
If there wont be ESRB, government will do it instead and then we all Fcked up
