First Spyro Reignited Trilogy PC mod adds support for ultrawide resolutions and custom Field of View

Spyro Reignited Trilogy has just been released on the PC and its first mod has surfaced online. This mod adds support for ultrawide resolutions, something that a lot of PC gamers will appreciate. Moreover, it adds a custom Field of View that players can adjusts on the fly.

All you have to do is install Flawless Widescreen, unpack the archive included in this link and copy the folders to the main Flawless Widescreen folder in Program Files. Then, you’ll have to launch Flawless Widescreen. Make sure the fix is active as it will remove the black bars and allow for FOV adjustment through the UI or hotkeys.

According to reports, there are also some issues with some animations when playing at high framerates. Fore example, Spyro may slide unnaturally on every surface. On the other hand, high framerates can also introduce some game breaking issues (like the following Druid Bug).

Spyro Reignited Trilogy - Alpine Ridge - Druid Bug Above 30FPS

The only solution right now is to play the game with 60fps and V-Sync. However, if – and when – you encounter a game breaking issue, you’ll have to shortly switch back to 30fps.

Here is hoping that Iron Galaxy will release a patch to address these framerate issues!

  1. John, can you do a PC performance analysis for the port? There’s very little info on how well the game runs (I know it breaks above 60 fps right now, but hopefully they’ll patch that soon).

    1. It runs butter smooth on 1060 6GB/i7-2600K, but i actually had a few crashes, not sure what’s related to, maybe GPU drivers…

  2. So they released a console port featuring the option for higher framerates but didn’t properly check if the physics still worked correctly. Or they knew the physics don’t work correctly but still chose to release it anyway.

Rank incompetence or wilful negligence, take your pick.

      1. Yeah it’s insane, still having said that it does look awesome on the PC with the fixes. I am playing it in a multi screen config it’s pretty crazy!

I have been a part of the WSGF crew for long time and will never understand these PC ports that just drop the ball on so many things. Also why FOV is not mandatory in every 3D game on the PC is beyond Me.

          1. Yeah Man, there needs to be some sort of comity and games need to be certified. It be very similar to how it is to get your game certified on the Xbox One and PS4.

I would actually take it one step further and every PC game would have to have the following check list certified:

            – FOV slider to 120(if it is a 3D game)

            – M&KB and Xbox One controller input support
            – rebinding keys for both input types
            – invert Y and X axis

            – can disable: motion blur, DOF, AA, screen shake, head bob
            – must support: Ultra Wide and multi screen configs

            – can disable: political content
            – directors cut mode: this would be a pure vision of the dev uncut or altered by social media and any groups that seek to alter the original art
            – difficulty settings: easy, medium, and hard
            – official indie seal: this would be a seal that X game is really made by a indie dev or group of indie devs
            – AAA seal: categorize the game as AAA needs to have certain req
offline mode: unless the game is a MMO every game would require this
SP mode: unless the game is a MMO it would require this. In case of a BR or MP type game you would launch a local server and have it filled with bots so you can play by your self or practice and get good.
Screen modes: full screen, boarderless, window
Align screen: be able to align the game window in you resolution, so if I have 5760×1080 I can move a 1080p screen of the game rendered to the centre, left or right of the screen

Basically something similar to that list. I think it make a massive difference for the consumers/us gamers and for even the developers.

I know it is a pipe dream of mine but as a hard core gamer and legit indie dev that is what I want to happen one day. Sucks it will probably never materialize 🙁

          2. Basically make devs view the classic Totalbiscuit videos on the subject where he outlined the various do’s and do nots.

Seeing a ‘Totalbiscuit-certified’ emblem on a game’s store page would give consumers some confidence in the devs’ competence and level of care.

    1. The pre release build had broken lighting, the shadows and lighting were over exaggerated and more realistic and at long distances there was darkness.

Suffice to say the game still needs patching.

  3. Excellent i was looking for this. Regarding those bugs, i’m around 70% into the game, and i still haven’t found a single noticeable bug, and surely no framerate issues or such. The game runs perfectly and it’s very well done from what i could see until now.

Edit: The mod doesn’t seem to work for me, i followed the instructions but nothing is working, besides flawless widescreen is a messy program, and i can’t understand sh** on how to use it.

Nvm, fixed, just needed to extract the zip with the function, it wasn’t working for me because i did it manually, file by file.
