Remedy’s Control releases tomorrow and since 505 Games has lifted the game’s embargo, we can finally talk about its PC performance. As we’ve already reported, Control is taking advantage of real-time ray tracing and supports NVIDIA’s DLSS. And we are happy to report that DLSS looks great in this title.
Before continuing, I strongly suggest opening the images in new tabs so you can more easily spot the visual differences.
For starters, a single NVIDIA GeForce RTX2080Ti is unable to run the game on Max settings with constant 60fps at either 1080p or 1440p. The game is fully playable at those resolutions, however there are drops below 50fps even on 1080p. As such, DLSS is really important and necessary for those that want to enjoy the game’s ray tracing effects.
For instance, at 1080p on Max Settings and with High Ray Tracing, our NVIDIA GeForce RTX2080Ti was able to run our benchmark scene with a minimum of 50fps and an average of 59fps. At 2560×1440 with High Ray Tracing, we were getting a minimum of 38fps and an average of 43fps. However, and once we enabled DLSS, our RTX2080Ti was able to push constant 60fps at 1440p.
Not only that, but the image quality (between 1080p and 1440p) appears to be similar. There are some extremely slight changes, but most of you won’t be able to notice them while playing the game. For instance, here is a comparison between 1080p (left), 1440p DLSS (middle) and native 1440p (right).
In fact, the DLSS implementation is so good that it is also difficult to spot – while playing – the visual differences between 1440p DLSS and native 1440p. Below you can find some comparison (DLSS is on the left whereas native res is on the right). As you will see, the only way to really notice the visual differences is by closely examining the images.
In some cases, DLSS eliminates aliasing better than MSAA. Below you can find another comparison and as we can see, DLSS smooths more jaggies than MSAA 4X. 1080p with MSAA 4X is on the left, 1440p with DLSS is in the middle, and native 1440p with MSAA 4X is on the right.
You can also find below some comparison screenshots between native 2560×1440 and 4K DLSS. In these comparison we have disabled Ray Tracing, something that may interest some of our readers. As we can see, there are less jaggies in the 4K DLSS screenshots. You can easily spot the 4K images from the smaller MSI overlay size.
Our full PC Performance Analysis will go live later today or tomorrow. In that article, we’ll also talk a bit more about the game’s Ray Tracing effects. Naturally, we’ll also have results from more GPUs on the most common resolutions.

And it only costs a measly $1400! I am telling you people nVidia is going to go broke if we don’t do something soon, they are practically giving their GPUs away!
LMao 🙂
Only 1400$ woowee… For that money you can also buy a ship in scam citizen
I never understood people complaining about the price of high-end video cards. Do you also moan and whine every time a new Lambo/Ferrari/Bugatti comes out?
There is a limit about how much a gaming videocard should cost the max i ever paid was for a new 980ti at around 799$ when it just came out and even then people were calling me crazy becaus they knew i would use it only for gaming.
An expensive video card for work is normal but for gaming anything Above 600$ is too much.
Similarly, wouldn’t you say paying over 10 million dollars for a Rolls Royce is ‘crazy’? 2 million for a purse? Yet you don’t see people complaining about it. They just buy a cheaper car/purse/house/whatever and that’s it.
I think moaning is a too strong of a word, I am dissatisfied especially when that tier of performance could be had for around 500-600$ a couple of years ago.
cars can be modified and upgraded though, the price of a stock supra now is really high because very few ones exist, a tuned supra can compete with a Gallardo, can you say the same for a video card from 10 years ago? Cards cant be upgraded only replaced.
The point is that you have a wide range of products to choose from. I don’t get my panties in a twist because I can’t afford a Ducati motorbike, I just settle on a Benelli and move on.
Beneli makes bikes?
Yeah, since the early 1920s.
then don’t play on high resolution or ultra setting.
Yeah, my comment wasn’t directed specifically at you, it was more of a general thing.
You’re full of it dude…. the 2080Ti is 1000-1100$ , its 30% better than the 1080 Ti and the 1080Ti was 700$ when it came out , not 500-600$ , and good luck finding one at 700$ during the mining craze.
0 knowledge and full of bs , as all amd shills.
Pretty sure people just want prices to stick within the realm of reason. GPU prices have been bloating out of control for long enough now.
just don’t chase crazy high resolution like 4k + 144FPS + everything on ultra. if you stick to 1080p for example even the likes for RTX2060/ RX5700 should do the job well. the problem is i see people want to have all best stuff but wanting “reasonable” price for it. the high end is never about value. and most often it is not even the absolute must have before you can play the game.
Stupid example. Lamborghini made tractors, he was disappointment with the quality of a Ferrari car he bought so built one that didnt break down as easily. This is how Lamborghini overtook Ferrari. The highest selling Lamborghini is the Gallardo which is a cut down nerfed Murcielago. Still making those cars wasnt profitable so Lamborgini is owned now by Volkswagen just like Bugatti.
By the way Ferraris and Lamborghinis are supercars with Galardo being a exotic car like a Porche or a Aston Martin. Bugatti is a hypercar just like Pagani and koenigsegg. You comparing different tiers.
It doesn’t matter at all. You totally missed the point.
It’s not about “cars”, it’s about products available in a wide range of variety. It can be cars, houses, clothing, video cards, etc. Get it?
High end GPUs used to cost way less, people still remember.
Actually people don’t remember.
The year is 1987, and ATI released the ATI VGA Wonder, to the tune of 449 USD, which adjusted to inflation equals to… 1014 USD today.
tfw you have to nitpick a GPU from 4 decades ago before PCs became mainstream to sound correct
Everything had an insane cost back then, 1GB HDDs costing like 500 bucks. 32mbit ram costing hundreds, PCs were archaic compared to now and not mainstream.
You are not naive you know for which era i was talking about, the modern era where the high end cpu costed 500$ tops but nvidia decided to pump it up starting with the Titan.
I didn’t have to nitpick anything, it’s just available data. According to you PC gaming became mainstream when exactly? Before Nvidia’s Titan? Ok the first Titan card released in 2013. In 2012 the release price for a GTX 690 was 1000 USD, which equals to 1117 USD today.
But I guess you’re going to have to nitpick something, so here’s more:
2011, GTX 590, adjusted price: 800 USD
2006, Radeon X1900 XTX, adjusted price: 825 USD
2007, GeForce 8800 Ultra, adjusted price: 1025 USD (!!)
And I could go on. So you see, extremely high prices on high-end video cards is nothing new, on the contrary.
A simple 1min search just because it was obvious that you were lying
Go to anandtech /show/2069 and read the article which is from 2006
Enthusiast – ATI Radeon X1950 XTX – $449
ATI Radeon X1900 XT 256MB $279
825USD btw.
So much lying and inaccuracies on disqus and in general holy molly everyone tries to prove himself via lying.
“Lying” lol, that’s rich. First of all, I never mentioned the X1950 XTX or the X1900 XT, I mentioned the X1900 XTX, which is a different card.
And I’ll explain to you why you’re wrong. That Anandthech article is from August 23rd, which is a whopping SEVEN MONTHS after the X1900XTX’s release, so by then its price had dropped significantly.
With articles dated on January 2006, Inquirer, Guru3D, GameSpot and many more put the X1900XTX’s launch price at 649 USD, which accounting for US dollar inflation equals to 825 USD today.
Get it now or do I need to draw a picture for you?
Go to Mwave, over 2K+ Australia, that is your future .
You can get one for 1000 at EVGA for the 2080 Ti black. $1400 will get you a pretty high end AIB partner 2080 ti
i cannot see any difference, how about something that you can see, i heard the gameplay is nonlinear and there is alot of exploration and backtracking, is that true?
I pretend this game release date is next year,so i still have alot of time to finish tons of games…
If you’re willing to wait that long you might as well just pirate it, Timmy Tencent already paid for your copy anyway.
Seems that EGS +denuvo is avoid by “Jack Sparrow”,so its the same situation. Thats why i prefer it come to Gaben castle, even if i must wait a year..
Do we have confirmation on it using Denuvo though?
I don’t know, but considering this is an AAA games, why wouldnt they use it?
Robo-Fernando, will be checking in any minute now 🙂
“Excellent,i will buy once it out on EGS because steam is taking 30% and thats too much. EGS is care about developer and Tim will shower me with Fartnite dollar because i become his shill”
Thats what he will say 😀
LOL I forgot the game isnt coming out on steam for a year ehhh no loss
Great dlss implementation? Have you even seen the blur introduced?
Ya, native 1080p looks better. Maybe he’s just looking at the edges, DLSS is blurring all the textures losing the fine details.
Yes great implementation by professional team unlike Code? in F1 2019.
I am the only one getting Pole overall in my Renault, No TCS, ABS and have no issues without DLSS @ 75FPS, Max Settings, LMAO, 3840×1600, on my G920, Envy me, like they all do .
I don’t care . When you have power, and talent, issues do not exist . Reject .
1440p DLSS, 1440p… RTX 2080 TI .
I rather play 30 FPS, Native 4K with Reshade than that joke . Then again, I don’t expect people clicking to 16:9 Aspects, having any sort of worthwhjile aspect on “Pure Fln’ Quality Sense .”
DLSS looks truly fantastic. I simply could not tell the difference without side-by-side comparisons.
DLSS seems to look even slightly better which is surprising.
Nobody cares about a boring SJW Epic Exclusive game.
You seem to care since you opened this article.
no denuvo DRM executable in only 18mb
Not surprised, since 505 Games or Remedy has never used Denuvo.
18mb? WOW, last game i played with denuvo was like what? half a gigabyte for a exe, jesus.
“For starters, a single NVIDIA GeForce RTX2080Ti is unable to run the game on Max settings with constant 60fps at either 1080p or 1440p”.
And it’s likely to not look much different from the console versions, I’m sure.
Glad I dropped the game when they went EGS exclusive, because now their “It won’t run bad like Qb” part rings flase, because an RTX 2080ti should be eating that game at 1080p/1440p, and the fact that it isn’t shows that they’ve hindered their own game.
You can disable RTX effects if you prefer performance.
Really impressed with the physics engine in this game that you showcase in the 2nd video. Remedy and Nvidia really did great job on the technical side of things it seems. Can’t wait to play tomorrow!

DLSS isnt supported by the RTX 2080Ti cards @1080p according to Nvidia.. so how is it possible to enable it ? Or am i wrong ?
It’s not supposed be used with low resolutions such as 1080p.
maybe not supposed .. but as you can see it is very hard needed on that resolution for 144hz users who aim the highest possible fps. Every fps we can get extra is a welcome one.
If you know how DLSS work since the very beginning you should be aware that DLSS @1080p is never impossible. Just that the focus for DLSS is primarily for 4k where it can be very taxing for GPU so the image are mostly being trained for 4k res. But since we know the image for 4k is being trained it should also possible to train images for other resolution. There should be no limit at what resolution DLSS can only work. It all depends on nvidia effort to train the image.
I hear they blocked males from streaming on the 24th as part of some gender “””equality””” stunt, that’s a huge red flag as far as I’m concerned, as if the EGS crap wasn’t bad enough. I’ll pass on this one.
Max settings with rtx on does not count, do a more realistic comparison without raytracing most people don’t own rtx cards
Speak for yourself!
And for me too, this time!
“The game is fully playable at those resolutions, however there are drops below 50fps even on 1080p.”
Not according to this
https://wccftech.com/control-pc-performance-explored-all-in-on-rtx/3/
You have drops because you still use ancient cpu and ram. You’re wasting the 2080Ti on this comically unbalanced system.
The game does not come with a built-in benchmark tool. The first minutes, as showcased in our video, are easy on the GPU and WCCFTech tested those areas. Once you progress and cleanse two points, you start encountering more GPU-heavy scenes. We benchmarked those scenes. Oh, and our “dated” CPU runs the game with constant 120fps at 720p (so we’re talking about a GPU bottleneck here).
Beside DLSS and RTX what this game has to offer. Gamers now days is all about how the game looks and how the game runs.
I wouldn’t necessarily say that. It’s just that these new wave of games have exciting tech behind them. Once RTX becomes the norm and is affordable it’ll be just like any other PC setting. Although there is some air to truth behind your statement in a lot of cases. I’d prefer a good story and gameplay over these shiny graphics myself.
Damn that’s rough. I play in my living room on a LG OLED and anything below 3200×1800 looks soft. Hopefully this DLSS implementation is better than what we have seen before.
On the other hand it’s nice to see a developer pushing the limits and making a game that’s really for the next generation of gpus helping move the industry forward
Release Ampere in the fourth quarter of this year and end this nonsense
Here John GPU test on ZEN2
Game is not optimised well even on DX12 😉
Needs a lot of patching.

Oh yeah im so ready with my 2080 Super EVGA FTW3 Ultra. And this is the game I have waited for the most. Bring it on!
this will run like crap on anything other than RTX 2080ti….
we are at a stage where fanboys think overpriced highend videocards is equivalent to premium fast cars. lol
its just a gaming card, thats all.
if its not doing anything more then it should cost above 1k$
in my case at 1440p with dlss it looks bad, jesse hair looks horrible https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/1f4be9ed64ba404a49e68cc2f935b7dc4dee200cb674953db4211494a643a0b3.png
similar thing on my rtx 2070… i don’t understand why dlss seems to change from pc to pc
