Back in June 2019, CI Games announced that Defiant Studios would be developing the second part in the Lords of the Fallen series. However, and almost a year afterwards, the publisher announced the termination of its partnership with Defiant Studios.
According to CI Games, the termination of this partnership is mainly due to the quality of the work being lower than expected by the company.
“The termination of the agreement was submitted due to inadequate execution by Defiant [of] a key work stage (milestone no. 11), a so-called vertical slice. The quality of the work was lower than expected by the company, as precisely described in the agreement, despite three calls to improve the quality of this stage of work.”
On the other hand, Defiant Studios disagrees with CI Games statement. As founder and managing director David Grijns told Eurogamer.
“We categorically disagree with the portrayal of Defiant Studios made by CI Games. The team that was working on CI Games’ project was comprised of exceedingly talented developers whose work we fully stand behind. Our team knows how to build quality games as is evident by their key roles in Just Cause 3, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Far Cry 5, Devil May Cry (DmC) and many other top tier projects.”
CI Games will finish Lords of the Fallen 2 in-house with outsourcing help.

Because CI Games is known to only ship games of highest quality. Lol I bet Defiant Games got too expensive for them.
Who knows what kind of behind the scenes BS has occurred during the production of our favorite games. At the end of the day the only thing that really matters is if the game turned out good or not.
Who knows that “continue working in-house with outsourcing help” make the game quality worse than what Defiant Games made…
Can’t believe this garbage is getting a sequel.
battlefront got a sequel
So the sequel’s going to be pretty much just like the original… inadequate execution.
I kid… I actually enjoyed the game for what it was.

I work with clients and i know exactly what this means. Their work must’ve been sub-par. The 3rd strike was the lucky one. https://media0.giphy.com/media/X1aI800CRXLzi/giphy.gif
