Borderlands 3 will feature microtransactions for cosmetics, 45 minutes of gameplay footage revealed

Gearbox has announced that Borderlands 3 will feature micro-transactions for cosmetic items. Randy Pitchford and Paul Sage made it clear that the game won’t have any “pay-to-win microtransactions” that can give gameplay advantages to those that acquire them.

As Randy Pitchford said:

“As you can plainly see, we’ve made a commitment to what Borderlands is and supposed to be. We’ve made a commitment to the story, style and design that our fans have told us loud and clear that they cherish and want us to preserve in Borderlands 3. There is no microtransaction-y, free-to-play kind of stuff.

We’re gonna do some kickass campaign DLC. And I’m sure we’re going to do all kinds of fun customizations like heads and skins, but we’re not doing any of that free-to-play junk.”

So yeah, while players will be able to buy cosmetics, there won’t be any purchasable items that can affect the actual gameplay.

Moreover, you can find below a video showing 45 minutes of gameplay footage from Borderlands 3 so go ahead and take a look!

  1. why even post this it’s not on PC if the games isnt on steam it doesn’t exist until it hits steam pirate bay and the other torrent sites i will not name.

  2. How I miss the days when games just had skins locked behind mere challenges and secrets to unlock/cheats.

  3. So sick of the word ” microtransactions ” it should not even exist in the PC gaming world. Lazy a*s greedy developers, making horrible game and charging money for its pieces .

  4. i watched it live, everything that came out of randy dandy’s kunt mouth made me want to punch him, unappealing low iq baboon f4gget.

How did we get to this being an acceptable compromise? Slow burn manipulation. Bordlerands 3 can go f*** itself.

Not like I have any faith in B*tchford anyways. Who honestly thinks this game is going to be even half as good as the priors? If you do, you’re delusional.

  6. “our fans have told us loud and clear that they cherish…”

…the opportunity to pirate Borderlands 3.

    1. It’s going to be nice watching this game do really well while you’re all salty about it because of EGS.

      1. Salt is useful. A swift kick in the proverbial nads is exactly whats needed. EGS and its anti-consumer tactics benefit no one but Epic – no not even you. Support fellow consumers; dont be impressed by the well dressed scam artists and their snake tongues.

        1. “A swift kick in the proverbial nads is exactly whats needed”

And no one is getting that. BL3 will sell great, because it looks to be exactly the BL game people want.

      2. Lol it will never do as good in the EGS as it could on Steam, no matter how well it sells on Epic.

  7. “there won’t be any purchasable items that can affect the actual gameplay”

But there are XP and Loot Boost mTx. Which affects the balance of grind and loot in the game (ie…. actual gameplay).

Shadow of War, Mortal Kombat X/11, BattleFront 2 and etc has this same bullsh*t

  8. Doesnt matter if it is p2w or not. Full price, singleplayer games especially should not have ANY microtransactions. They think stealth price gouging the art through monetization is ok because the “cosmetics are fine” morons like self-absorbed journalists, youtubers, and streamers dont mind due to being sponsored (or given undisclosed, lucrative industry favors), convincing their little fanboy followings to regurgitate this same message everywhere online, right next to community managers.

And after watching gameplay yesterday, gotta say that nothing screamed day one anyways. Just looked like old af Borderlands with some slight tweaks. Now they just do level scaling for everyone, which means there arent any actual levels, but just a number change. Get ready for level 40 chickens and tons of level gating – a problem they created – but the solution in the form of “boosters” can be purchased.

    “Player Choice!” *wink wink*
